Ok just seen the keynote
Very underwhelming. I have the 15pm and I need to upgrade to 512gb
But I can’t see what’s changed??
Same screen, minor size increase
Slightly faster processor
Camera control
4k120 video

And that’s pretty much it??
Even the Apple Watches and AirPods barely improved either ……I know people say this every time but I really can’t see all those “innovations” they talk about

I was just on Apple's site comparing the two and honestly...it's the smallest of incremental improvements between the 15 Pro and 16 Pro. I have the 15 Pro and watching the keynote, I was underwhelmed with the 16 Pro. Sure, the improvements are neat and impressive but not enough to make me upgrade. I could see people who are using 14/14 Pro and earlier jumping on this though. Its obvious that the every OTHER year upgrade is more worth it IMO.

If I had the money back then, this is how my iPhone upgrade should have been:

2011 - iPhone 4s [1st iPhone]
2013 - iPhone 5s
2016 - iPhone SE 2016 or iPhone 7
2019 - iPhone 11 Pro
2021 - iPhone 13 Pro

I'll probably upgrade in 2025 or 2026

After watching the announcement, I am convinced that you should not expect the older models to receive the same set of features as the newer models... If you want the best hardware and software, then go with the latest model and upgrade the next year... Upgrading iOS version is not the same as getting the full experience on a new iPhone...

I‘m on the yearly iPhone upgrade program because I can afford to do so, no other reason. I don’t expect year over year upgrades to be major. I assume Apple knows most people don’t upgrade their phones every year. What’s the point of comparing the 16 to the 15 when most people upgrading probably own a 12, 13 or 14?

If I didn’t have to give my iPhone 15 Pro back to my current employer (starting a new job in two weeks), I would definitely skip this upgrade. I have to go and buy a new phone anyway, so might as well well get the 16 pro, but I am not very excited about it.

I just finished watching the keynote and I’m surprised they didn’t do much else to the camera. I was hoping for a 5X upgrade with a larger sensor and higher ISO capabilities. Of course, Apple sometimes doesn’t disclose during the keynote additional features in the cam system until you actually get it and try it out yourself. For example, I’m wondering if night mode with the new sensor is improved two times better or not. As many of you said the upgraded features are minimal and its kind of is an “S” upgrade. I always upgrade to the next iPhone based on the cameras. I don’t shoot ultra wide all that often at all so having 48 megapixels on the 13 mm lens really matter much. Especially if they didn’t change the optical design. They supposedly put anti-reflective coatings on the new lenses to keep ghosting and flaring down, but they didn’t really touch on that very much. I was working during the keynote so I’m gonna have to watch it again later to see if I missed anything.

I'd be careful before upgrading. I saw the presentation for the iPad Pro 2024 on May 7, and, since I had the 2018 12.9" iPP, thought it would be worth upgrading to the 13". The presentation made it look as if the 2024 version was a huge improvement over the 6-year-old Pro. It wasn't. I still have a 2018 iPad Pro 11 and the older 2018 Pro 12.9" Pro. The only thing I notice about the newer iPP is that it's lighter. Otherwise, for me at least, using it feels exactly he same as the older machine. The presentation for the new iPhone was very slick (not surprisingly). But it's easy to be taken in and spend money you don't need to on features you may never use. Do you really need to take a picture of a restaurant sign and then see the menu? All you have to do is google it. I suppose if you were a professional photographer it would be useful, but for me my iPhone 13 pro max is more than adequate. If, next year, they come out with a much lighter iPhone with a large enough screen, I will be tempted.

What the 16 Pro can do with photographic styles… is that exclusive to the A18Pro and the 16? Or is that an iOS 18 option?

I have a 14 Pro and was hoping the 16PM would have a better main camera sensor but it's the same. To get 48MP ultra wide, I can buy a wide angle lens for the very few times when 12MP UW isn't enough. Or I can shoot a bunch of 48MP ProRaw and stitch them together. The screen sizes are just a few mm larger, CPU speed up a tiny bit in real world use.

I can wait a year...
