Pro max orange but I don’t get how color really matters as most will use a case anyhow, people who pay $1200 for a phone and use it without a case I just don’t understand

I have never been more torn about which model to get!!!

I had the iPhone 15 pro max and then I've been using the Galaxy s25 ultra since January. I'm ready to head back to iPhone, but I'm so torn.

The air is really speaking to me lol, but I'm a little worried about battery. I'm not a crazy heavy user, so I'm ok with having less cameras. The speaker doesn't bother me because I mostly use air pods anyway.

My heart says the air, and my head says the pro max. I guess I'll have to figure out by Friday morning!

Anyone else this torn?

I got a Tangerine iMac G3 as a gift for Christmas in 1999, complete with the wallpaper that's in my avatar-- so the Cosmic Orange iPhone 17 Pro Max is legitimately a full circle moment. I've always loved the color orange anyway! The silver model also looks really nice. Strangely, I like the orange better on the larger model...maybe because there's more space in the "plateau" to separate the camera elements? On the smaller model, I'd probably lean towards Silver. That's just me.

My favorite out of the Air lineup is definitely the Cloud White and out of the regular 17, the Sage looks great. I may not pre-order this year...I know that I won't be able to get my hands on one for a while in that case; but seeing them in person and reading the reviews beforehand will be nice (for once!). I'm using a 1TB 16 Pro in Black for now, along with an AW S9 in Midnight, so I'm not itching for the upgrade JUST yet. Trying my best to look at it logically which is easier said than done. :p

Blue PM for me.

But IMHO these are the ugliest pro iPhones ever. I’ve already promised my 16PM to a family member and ordered cases etc or I’d probably not upgrade this year.

I’m still torn! I’ve got a 16 Pro, and I’ve already prepped a pre-order for the Air because I’m super excited about the design. But now, I’m starting to think about getting the 17 instead. I’m a little concerned about the heat with the 17 Air, and whether the device might slow down if it gets too hot. I’m also starting to worry about battery life, potential for bending, etc. Plus, the main reason I’ve been using Pro for so long was the display, and the iPhone 17 now has the same main display. The cost savings of just going basic would be nice.

Black Air. I am so ready for a large screen phone that doesn’t weigh over half a pound. I’m fine with some of the corners they cut to make the phone lighter and thinner.

heavily debating between the orange and silver Pro Max

initially i was all silver but the orange has grown on me a bit.

Pros of the Silver: neutral color, looks classy like my silver 14in MBP, if i drop it or scratches appear it will be the least visible (i don’t use a case). timeless (chance i get bored/sick of the orange color? ). not sure i like the orange side rails popping out when looking at the phone head on

Pros of orange: the new color. not sure i like the “two tone” of the silver + white glass back

so leaning heavily toward the silver. reading this thread, it looks like most if not all are going for orange.

i went with desert titanium last year because it was the new color (didn’t want to get natural titanium again) and was slightly disappointed that it was not really “desert” like brown but more rose gold. in some lights it looks pink. not enough for me to replace the color with something else or put a case/skin on it but still

so kinda hesitant getting this new orange color which is pretty bold

i think i might skip preordering this year until i can get into an apple store and see it in person

thoughts?

The Air in Sky Blue was an instant decision for me from the keynote, upgrading from a 14PM. The ProMotion display, Pro chip, and polished titanium deliver a premium design. The 17 Pro looks like a massive design downgrade from the stainless steel of the 14PM. It’s a technically impressive device but that cutout design and the colour options are simply hideous.

The Air’s battery life isn’t a concern, and I don’t care about cameras as I have a big Nikon for serious photos. The only things that I will likely be a bit sour on is the single speaker and lack of cinematic video, but for the later there’s my wife’s 16 Pro.

Gonna go with the 17 Pro in Silver. It gives me this industrial, brutalist concrete vibe that I like:

If I had to rank them:
1- Silver
2- Deep Blue
3- Cosmic Orange

I don't use a case with my iPhone. I have AppleCare+.
On the upgrade program so i do as well. I guess i never thought of what happens next year if and when the phone is scratched up or dented, would that prevent the trade in? How much does it cost if you shatter the back or screen, etc?

iPhone Air in Sky Blue

I will have to see it in person at the Apple Store before I'm 100% sure, but I'm about 95% sure currently. The Light Gold is also nice, but the blue is a new color and I think it will look really nice.

Before the event, I was fairly certain I was getting a Pro, but that changed.

I skipped only one iPhone, the 5S - it was the first year there was NOT a subsidized upgrade offered by the carrier. So, I upgrade every year. It's my only camera, and I really could use better battery.. but I'm so in-tune for a change (not going to go Android OS, alas) .. so I'm honestly considering the iPhone Air for a change. It would be a one-year commitment, and I can always go back Pro next year

Is anyone in the same boat? No macro camera, I'll have the Air battery pack to help out.. but wow, the form-factor and weight - that seems AWESOME for just a break from the nearly-usual fit and feel of the phone for me

Is anyone else considering the Air, but is normally a clearly Pro user?
