All of your stories got me excited and I called Apple to complain. The woman I spoke with was nice enough and offered me a $25 refund for the mistake.

As usual the Mac forums get my hopes up, Apple does something good, and I still walk away disappointed. :(

Now if you add it in the shopping cart, it just list them item name and item number. No more spec descriptions. They probably did that to clear up the errors. I should of ordered when I saw the error. :(

If it makes any difference, you just made me much happier with my $50 refund! :D Just look at the glass half full. That's what I'm doing. With others saying they got $100, $150, upgrade... whatever. It's money you didn't have in your pocket after you placed your order. No one else is going to get these "on sale" in the near future. I just think Apple should be more on top of things and make whatever they are doing even for all customers. Sounds like most support reps don't even know about the mistake when first called.

Why do all you silly people claim there's only a .4GHz difference between the two models?
Last time I checked, the processor was dual core, meaning there's a .8GHz difference.

I'd expect Mac people to know this, since OS X takes care of multiple cores beautifully.

I called back and was on the phone for an hour, but I was able to get a $100 credit toward the purchase of the 2.4 and free overnight shipping. With my education discount I ended up paying $150 extra, but eh... better than $250 (plus tax on that extra $100).

Weee!

So now were labled "Mac people" huh? I guess we're not human like you are. Do the math, 4000 Mhz minus 2000 Mhz equals???! 400Mhz which is the same as .4Ghz. Dual core or single it's still 400 Mhz.

Actuallly, I'm a Mac person as well (24" iMac, 2.0 White MB, Mini, had a Mac Pro at my old job).
It just seems as if there's a few silly ones here.

I'll walk you through this in small steps.
The processor has two cores.
For all intents and purposes, the cores are basically individual processors (bla bla except for memory architecture bla bla).

Simplified, this means that a 2GHz dual core processor will give you...
2x2000MHz.
This means that a 2.4GHz dual core processor will give you...
2x2400MHz.

Now, I may not have gone to the same fancy school as you, but my maths teacher taught me that 4800-4000 is 800.

If the entire platform were single threaded, the extra core wouldn't matter - but since it's not, it means you get 2x400MHz extra.

Now go back to being silly.

I guess I really did get a deal then... Maybe I called them just in time. They cancelled my order, and upgraded me for only a small fee. They sent me the $1599 model ($1499 with student discount) for $1349. No complaints here.

I think 99% of the people could use both and not notice a difference. 2.0? 2.4? Who cares? Just enjoy your new Macbook. People here are too much into nitpicking specs.

Woo just called and they gave me a 129.95 bose stereo system for free, ($169 with tax :D)

I have to return the 2.0 they already sent, they're giving me a prepaid envelope to send back to the canadian warehouse.

Then she sent out the 2.4 ghz with 4gb ram and apple remote expedited at the same time, I was really happy that I didn't have to wait for them to recieve the first messed up order before they sent out my correct order.

And the girl was awesome I asked if she would give me the 8gb nano (169 in canada) and she said sure I can do that. But, I decided I needed the speakers more, I always have music on my cell phones so it's fine.

Pretty happy with how they dealt with it!
