nonprofit

I currently work for a large nonprofit managing its relationships with health care, mental health, and substance abuse agencies. I do a little bit of policy work and research, grant writing, and lots of public speaking. I have a BA in theology and will graduate with an MPA in May. Couldn't be happier.

I pick things up and put things down....

leaving the semiconductor industry and starting in the biotech industry tomorrow

I am a freshman in college and this morning I was talking with one of friends about majors and I decided to change mine. I wanted to be a nurse since pretty much middle school. I know I won't be happy being in the medical field. I am just trying to get some ideas. I know I might want to do something in the technology field, I don't know. Can you list your job and what exactly you do. I don't care that much about the salary. Thanks

the most interesting people don't know at 40 yrs old what they want to do with their life...

just follow what interests you and things will work out.

I'm a self-employed boss and manager of a female escort service. It's a small business, so I'm involved in nearly all aspects of the business: human resources, finances, debt collection, profit collection, driver, security, and employee health checks. As the business is an escort service, so employee health and well-being are a top-priority, seeing as how I don't allow my girls any sick days. Unless the circumstances are extreme, sick girls can usually still perform escort duties.

Interesting that this thread came along just now. I'm sorta semi-retired, at a very young age (late 40s). Was an options trader on an exchange floor for many years, did ok, now I just invest, and play poker, both live, and (until recently) online.

Now that online poker is dead (for the time being) in the US, I'm sort of looking around for something to do. I was considering taking a cue from one of my brothers: He lives in central NJ, also semi-retired, and he keeps himself busy driving around and degunking/maintaining Windows systems for home business/small office environments.

I was thinking about doing something similar, but oriented around Macs. I'm sure I could pass the Mac certification exams fairly easily. The real question is: Is there a market for this kind of service in OS X land? Seems like so many people are just conditioned to take their Macs to the local Apple store for service. I'm not sure how well-received a non-Apple employee who makes house calls would be valued versus the local "Genius Bar".

And Yeah, I did think about getting a job at the local Apple store--I don't need the money , but it does seem like a fun place to work. The only problem is that it's been so long since I've punched a time clock, I don't think I could ever get used to doing it again.

I had a good friend of mine work at Apple Retail. He was a "Genius" and sales person. He absolutely hated that job. His least favorite part was "the snobby people that think they know everything and demand to have it fixed, replaced, etc"

Me? I work part time in a doctor's office as their IT guy. HIPAA and HITECT suck balls. On the plus side, I got them to pay for my Apple certifications and switched to office over to Mac.

I'm a supply chain analyst for a large scale power tool manufacturer. I work with one our customers to help them with reordering for their stores so they stay in stock with carrying too much or too little inventory at any given moment. I also forecast production for my factory in China on an annual scale so they can buy all the proper raw materials. It's not what I want to do forever but it's leading me in the right direction and I've only been doing it for a year so I have little to complain about. I have a business admin degree with a supply chain management minor (APICS) certification as well as a concentration on quality management. I pretty much live on my computer(s) all day so I get to hang around here more than I should.

My major is marketing and supply chain management. I hope to start with the same type of job, but in the technology/computer field.

Sales professional for Tourneau. . . Peddling high-end timepieces for commission. . . Money is good, hours are LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG.

Study Philosophy, Politics and Economics (Undergraduate).

No paid work, just loans, government grants and a few academic grants :D

I'll be interning in the summer though. Thankfully that's paid - I want an iPad!

Majored in Computer Science, graduated in August 2009. Hired into the software engineering department of an aerospace company, but while called a "software engineer" I do very little coding and work more with systems engineering than anything else.

I am a web designer. I love my job and I’m doing web designing not only for a living but also just for pleasure. I couldn’t find myself for a long time and then for my happiness I did it and I enjoy it) that’s cool I think)

Nowadays I am happily back to piloting my cab. I love it! (night times - no traffic, no sun, random drunken people)...

Used to be a Software Configuration & Deployment Manager, but got fed up with the stressy people in high-IT so said stuff it and got back in my car.

What, seriously? Why has no one else commented on this? What is it like being a female escort service manager? That must be a weird job.

I am a medical student who should be studying right now.

I'm an engineer for a defense company working on remote sensing. I did my PhD in Materials Science and now get to apply that experience solving some really cool problems. :)
