They must have reaaly changed a lot then. I had a 1997 Maxima GLE (top of the line) and the seating materials were very cheap. After a short while the seat trim was rubbing the seat and squeaking. The leather was some of the thinnest i have seen and the leather/vinyl match was very poor. Besides that the cornering was just not there. I was glad to get what i owed when i traded it in and will never buy Nissan again.

yeah, EVERY car company has come a LONG way since 1997. Nissan actually started it all by giving consumers high quality interiors for a reasonable price. They sold a shitton and the other car dealers followed suit

Perhaps, but all of the car magazines were raving about the Maxima back then and I was very disappointed. I'm glad you are happy with yours.

My first and only car, 2004 Honda Accord EX-L

^^

Love the way the 03-07 Accords look (minus the spoiler). Had a silver one but it got totaled :(

I really didn't care for it that much, but my first car, an '03 Ford Escape XLT. I put that car through some hell, and it never failed me once. Waaay too much fun to take mudding and racing, that V6 had some get up and go.

My favorite is my '88 Ford Ranger, but I poured nearly $5,000 in two months in repairs for it, and then the engine blew. Always had problems, but I'm still in love with it. Maybe someday I can afford to get it running instead of letting it rot in silence.

Probably my '06 Jetta. I really enjoyed that car. The interior was really nice, and it was just the "little things" about that car that made it really enjoyable. I now have a '10 Scion tC, which I like, but i think next time I'll go for another VW.

I still miss my BMW Z4 which I had to leave in Germany when moved to Japan.

Changing from a nice little two seater into an overcrowded subway was/is quite a change

The second best was the Audi TT convertible I had two cars before the Z4

Bringing this thread back to life.

I'm on my 3rd car right now in my life, and although it wasn't my first new car, it was the first car I've ever ordered. My 2011 BMW 135i. I ordered it while I was stationed in Germany, took delivery a month later, and have loved every minute of it. It is a huge step up from my last car (2006 Subaru Impreza 2.5i), but I went to Germany with the intent of getting a new car, and I had a few requirements: at least 300hp, turbo, sunroof. Yep, thats it, I like to keep it simple, lol. My BMW fits all those requirements and more. And yes, I did take it to the Nürburgring, immediately after my break-in period was done, lol.

I've done a few things to it since buying it. Wheels, tune, intake, etc. I have a lot more planned, just takes time.

2001 Ford Taurus :p

It's not a nice car by any means, but it was my first brand-new car and even after 10 years it's in great condition and has only needed the usual maintenance work. I don't drive much unless I'm going out of town so I haven't really bothered replacing it.

Sylon,

I really like the 1 series, but I think BMW needs to lower the price to really make a market for them.

I would rather have 4 doors, more leg room, and AWD of the 335xi, for only $4000 more.

If the 135i started around 34k, I think it would be a lot better deal. That or they should offer x-drive and the 135i @ 40k should be AWD.

Nice looking car none the less, really like those wheels!

Does your state require front plates? You should look into the possibility of getting Euro plates... they look much better on cars when you are required to run front plates imo.

Thanks.

Euro plates do look better, however I don't think they are allowed here. But I'll look into them. I would rather not run a front plate at all to be honest. Although cop activity is light in my area in OH, with my constant travels to and from MI, there is 1 area that is very cop heavy and I would rather just suck it up and not draw their attention to me.

yeah, we have to have front plates here in CO too... they just take away from the look of cars so much, i despise them!

A CF front lip would really make the nose of your bimmer look great tho :D;)

Funny you should mention that, lol. I am actually about to pre-order a CF front lip, Hamann-style. I used to have a different style CF front lip before a fox ran into it at 100mph on the Autobahn. So hopefully I can place that pre-order for the new lip sometime today.

Same here in NY. I guess you need to buy a corvette, if you don't want to use a front plate.

best car: 1999 Toyota Camry, at 200k miles it still runs like a champ and it is great on gas for it being a midsized sedan and the only maintenance it needs is oil changes, it also has a good amount of power for a 4 cylinder.

why do people blur out their numbers? I mean, I can go outside and look at hundreds of plate numbers right now lol

Because it connects their MR account to their real-life self. The plates outside don't really connect to anything.

Anyway, my favorite car has to be my current one: Honda CRV. Over 200K miles, over 10 years old, no problems, versatile. Honestly, I'm sick of it, but can't justify getting rid of it until it becomes a headache in some way.
