Let me quote from the press release.

Just saying the way it is reading or maybe better I am reading it is that it is not clear which one is the $349. Usually they list their products from low price to high.

Its pretty clear with the materials in all three lines of the watches that the Sport is starting at $349.

Sure, I understand and I am not saying that's this is the way it is. Could be sports is the cheapest.

Look how the organized the gallery

They start with the regular watch and then the sports and then the edition....

Ya know, even though its crazy I was thinking this lately, because it sure seems lined up like that. They're very vague about it, so maybe one of those surprises they've got up their sleeve is in pricing.

Really ? Where do you get this from?

For one, the Sport is made of aluminum case, Ion-X strengthened screen. Apple Watch is made from 316L stainless steel with sapphire crystal display and ceramic back. Watch Edition is made of 18K Gold, sapphire screen. Pretty clear that the Sport will be entry model, then Apple Watch, then Watch Edition based on the materials used.

Also, if it is referring to the stainless steel model, does "Apple Watch will be available in early 2015..." mean that the Sport & Edition models will be coming later?

For sure not. It will be interesting. I am stopping the guessing now. After all we are all fishing in the dark at this point in time.

Clearly the edition is the most expensive. Between the other two you really expect a high difference in manufacturing cost for Apple ? To me it is not clear.

If the Sports Watch is the mid priced model then it will be confirmed that Tim Cook has out mastered Steve Jobs with his manipulation of the Reality Distortion Field. :D

What if the  Watch comes out to $349, then the sport comes in at $250-$300.

:O

Right now anything is a possibility. Come on Apple, if you're reading this, we're dying!

The cost for sapphire crystal is definitely more and is used in high end watches. So yes, I believe the cost will go Sport, Apple Watch, Watch Edition.

Apple have two meanings for the phrase "Apple Watch"…

Apple Watch (the range of watches) will be available in three collections. Apple Watch (the model), with a polished or space black stainless steel case and a choice of straps; Apple Watch Sport, with a space gray or silver anodized aluminum case and Sport Band; and Apple Watch Edition, with an 18-karat rose or yellow gold case and a choice of straps exclusive to this collection. Apple Watch (the range of watches) straps include the Sport Band in black, blue, green, pink and white; the Classic Buckle in black and midnight blue; the Leather Loop in bright blue, light brown and stone; the Modern Buckle in midnight blue, brown, soft pink, rose gray and bright red; the Milanese Loop in stainless steel; and the Link Bracelet in brushed stainless steel and polished space black. Apple Watch (is this describing the range or the model?) will be available in early 2015 starting at $349 (US).

I think it's clear that the phrase in purple is describing the range rather than the model because the Apple Watch Sport will start at $349, based on the materials.

I will say that $349 sounds like they were working hard to try to hit a price. Most mainline Apple products are price around $100 increments (well, $x99), so putting this at $349 seems like that is really the lowest they could go. That makes me think it is possible that the Watch and Edition models could go significantly higher to help make up margin. I think they would be foolish to charge $1000 for the SS, but it wouldn't surprise me if it did. As of this point, no price would really shock me.

Interesting, we'll see. Regardless, it's difficult to fathom one price level being $700 higher than the previous one. But who knows?

That's also how I see it. I think the doubt on show from some members is a result of wishful thinking.

Actually I am interested in the sports version because that's what I intend to use it for. I hope everyone is right and I can get one for $349. Selling it higher could be typically Apple upselling.

I think it's more likely that the low-end SS model (with the Sport band) will start at just $100-200 higher than the base Watch Sport price and the high-end SS models (with the Milanese Loop and Link Bracelet) will be around at least $400-700 higher. Easier to fathom the price differential in this way.

I concur

Most I'll spend is approx. $550. I don't think I'll spend more unless there's something it does that I decide I just can't live without. Sorry Apple.

Presently, my Pebble Steel does a good job with notifications. I don't think my wife will have any interest in an Apple Watch, so I don't need to "share my heartbeat" with my guy friends.

Thus unless there's something really spiffy it'll do that's worth $700+, I just don't think I'll be buying one. Can't say for sure, but presently I think my limit is around the $550 neighborhood for the SS.

I can probably go up to $7,000 for the Edition (rose gold 38mm). I don't know if I can swing $10,000. Financially I could, but I'm not sure I want to. I'd get two stainless steel models instead. I'm guessing those will be around $1,000, maybe $1,200 with the link band.

Apple Watch (mid tier) 42mm with black leather band and biggest size. $600.

If the SS watch starts at $500, and there's a $50 upcharge for the 42mm, I could see paying $550+tax. If the SS watch starts at $1,000 then the max I'm paying is $399+tax if there's an upcharge on the aluminum for the 42mm.
