Of course its very realistic....Hey, its my dream laptop :)

I actually own my own dream laptop, MBP 2.4Ghz 4gb ram 200HDD 8600 256mb nvidia, planning to upgrade to 128gb SSD when i can get it for $100 or less.

Dream laptop would probably be a new 15" MBP. I'm not big on the performance, but that aluminum body with that size screen is perfect.

A MacBook Pro with the thickness of a MacBook Air and with the following specs:

8GB RAM
500GB SSD
3.2GHz Intel Quad Core processor
15" Full HD Backlit display
Blue-Ray player/burner (built in!)
Touch screen display
Some advanced graphics card (like Atari or Nvidia)
12 hour battery life per charge

Well, nothing's impossible. :D

Just give me a portable computer that doesn't exist, but I think about it, I can do any computing I need. Screw existing technologies; my brain can be the storage and I have enough parallel computing power; as for external storage, well... you don't want to know. :D

My dream laptop would get crazy but, realistically speaking, give me the 17" unibody MBP with a blu-ray drive and a better GPU and I'd be happy.

Mine was better :)

13" MacBook Pro. Same enclosure as the 13" MacBook (maybe slightly thicker), but with FireWire 800 and eSATA.

- 1440x900 resolution
- 2.4GHz up to 2.8GHz Core 2 Duo
- 4GB DDR3 RAM
- 250GB and 320GB HDD, SSD available too
- NVIDIA 9600GT with integrated 9400M
- Multi-Touch Trackpad with a freakin' button
- Black keyboard but no black bezel or glass display
- Glossy and matte options

That is my dream Mac. Basically, the MacBook Pro squashed into a MacBook with the same specs.

Ion is not a GPU, it's a marketing platform for nettops and netbooks with certain components in them (Nvidia 9400M, and an Atom CPU on a Pico-ITX motherboard).

So, if a computer has a Atom CPU in it, then it's not using the Ion platform.

The 9400M does not have "Ion" in the name though, regardless of what platform it's on.

The MBP of my dreams:

-15'' LCD screen with LED backlit using S-IPS or H-IPS. High Resolution, more then 1080P if possible.
-3,0 GHz or higher Intel Processor: Duo or Quatro.
-8 GBs of DDR3 RAM @ 1666Hz or Higher.
-nVidia 9800m GT or anything new by nVidia.
-500 GB SSD
-A better battery.

Annnd that's about what I can think of.

If I were to buy one now, I would love it to be something like this. Probably won't be replacing my Penryn MBP till 2011 or 2012 though.

15.4" Unibody MBP
Remove the black borders and glass

C2D P9700 2.8GHz
ATI 4670 Mobility
4GB DDR3 RAM
256GB SSD Drive

1680x1050 matte screen
External DVD drive

Ports:
3 USB
1 FW 800
Ethernet
Mini DVI
Headphone/Mic Jack
ExpressCard Slot + Remote

With the DVD drive + HDD gone, I'd like Apple to make the footprint smaller too. Also, lighter as well. Maybe around 2kg?

I'd have something like the existing 13" macbook, with a 2nd and 3rd screen than slide out from behind the first one. I'm hoping that the techniques and materials developed for Macbook Air can be useful for future products :)

...and since this is an "ideal" setup, these secondary screen should be detach-able. I'd also like all this with matte screen finishing and all in black aluminium.

A 17" MacBook Pro that folds down into something the size of a MacBook Air whenever I want it to. 1TB high-speed hard drive, 4GB RAM (doubt I would use any more than that).

The Thinkpad X200S with WXGA+ (some models have that) 3G (7Mbps) and firewire – the latter so I didn't have to use an expresscard for FW-connectivity, and the 3G so I didn't have to tether my phone or use a USB-dongle to get 3G.

Oh, and a 256GB SSD (but I will get that in due course).
