I love every season except summer. The latter just means heat, humidity and horseflies where I live and I genuinely hate it. As Galactic Emperor Pollaxe the First, I'd ban summer.

Autumn is lovely, the cooler days and nights, the beauty of the leaves changing. We live in the countryside so I also look forward to hearing the stags calling through the woods around us. Most importantly, we get back the hour they steal from us in spring.

I love winter and everything it brings; the darker nights, frost and snow. Spring has all the sense of life returning, the fresh greenery of the plants but I know as May rushes into June, the horseflies will be back.

I managed to dodge the heatwave we had this summer by heading off to Norway on honeymoon. It was blissfully cool, there. :)

Yep, right there with you. I'll take cold over heat, humidity and bugs any day. I moved away from Florida last year for exactly this reason.

The fact that I live in an area with four distinct seasons is what is best for me.
Not one favorite over the others, but always glad to see the change whenever it decides to come.
Now its a glorious time for trekking in the mountains and seeing all the colors at this time of year.
Next month it is to put on snow tires and prepare for the dark times ahead.
Good times to be had on the slopes and in the tracks:)

Always fair and impartial our twietee. :)

ha, I might quote you on that. :D

I discussed that some time ago, and while I don't enjoy what at times feels like 6 months straight winter time, I prefer having different seasons vastly over a homogeneous climate. Always depends on the context though, Winter in Berlin is harsh while here in Munich much more enjoyble (damn those icy eastern winds! :D)

Slightly off-topic but I finally got that Heroin Busters DVD. Haven't watched it though.

Please do quote me sir. Winter can be brutal in NY, but I love it. It's the humidity and heat of summer that make me dislike it. I prefer different seasons myself, but am always grateful to see the summer end.

and YAY! on the dvd arrival. Enjoy it.

Never been to NY (yet). But I know that a complete summer in Paris or Milan would be unbearable for me - staying alive for one week was bad enough (but was wonderful at the Atlantic coast on the other hand).

I don't really mind a strong winter too (my boots do), I guess it's mostly the fact that it means most of my friends won't play football/soccer outside. I love snow, but the one in Berlin is mostly cold mud after two hours. :D

I was talking with my wife a while ago and this topic came up.

I have to say that Autumn is my favorite time of the year. I absolutely love the cooler weather, the leaves changing and all that is fall.

We recently talked about moving to Florida (nothing serious just doing a fun what-if type of conversation), what we both realized is that we'd miss this time of year.

I'm planning a camping trip next month just so I can fully enjoy the weather :D

So what is your favorite time of year and why?

Trust me when I say maybe you should look a Class A RV because it will open your retirement !

Summer. As a Brit, any extended period of sunshine is something to celebrate.

Though I had a soft spot for Autumn. It marked the beginning of the new academic year, and I always started on a high. You feel super optimistic about term, all your books and whatnot are fresh, and campus would always look beautiful with the old stone buildings and leaves about.

Fall. Cooler weather, changing of the colors on the trees, football season, etc.

Sadly I've pretty much given most of this up, moving from Wisconsin to AZ (I hear we'll get some cool crisp weather eventually, but I don't get to "see" the changing of the seasons). But that's a fair trade to me considering I won't get the 5 months of snow/ice and freeeezing temperatures from November to March. :)

Depends on where I live.

Southern California - spring or winter

Colorado Springs - spring

Philippines - has only three seasons - winter, summer, and typhoon. Summer starts in April here and rainy starts around August. I prefer December & January months for being the coolest, so winter here.

SoCal has the best weather so far for me. I started hating snow and rainy days thanks to Colorado and the Philippines. SoCal has the most balance and only maybe three months of the year when it gets really hot (July-Sept) and maybe a month or two when it rains. Dec-May are my favorite months in SoCal. I like 65-75 F degrees. Anything higher than 85 F and anything colder than 60 F becomes annoying. But San Diego has cooler weather than LA. That's the place I would like to retire.

Three years in Colorado Springs (1996-1999) made me hate snow. Fun at first with snow fights and making a snowman. But I went through a great blizzard there in 1997. I did like the school cancelation during snow days. I had spring break last two weeks once. But you can ruin your car if you live there. And cold weather in the backseat of a car won't exactly help you with coitus which is ironic because I've seen the most interracial relationships there being a boring army/air force town.

Philippines has tropical humidity. It isn't as bad if you can go to the mall alot, shower every day, or have a swimming pool. It isn't Nevada or Palm Springs hot that reaches 115 F. About 95-100 at most. What kills it is sticky humidity, lack of wind when it is sunny, pollution, and overpopulation. And rain comes out of nowhere. Only country where some people can shower in the rain and light up fireworks at the same time. I remember playing basketball outside while we got soaked. Pretty fun and it does make the weather cooler. But not something I would want every day for ten months of the year. It rains here more than Seattle but at least Seattle is cleaner, less populated, less polluted, and much cooler weather.

Generally overall - WINTER (except in Colorado)! Why? Christmas bonus and the cool lights and cheerful Christmas music. The season when we can splurge.

WTF?

Anyway I like fall here in MN the best. Crisp air, the crunch of the leaves, Halloween, bonfires, hayrides, apple orchards, football, new TV shows, fall fashions, and I actually enjoy the longer nights and less daylight - I like it when the night feels long and you get home from work and it actually feels like night time because it's dark out. I don't really like that it's light til 9:45 in the summer, generally. I also like both the sunny warm autumn days when the sky is ultra blue and the leaves are at their peak, but I just as much like dark cold rainy/reary autumn days, especially sleeping in with the window open, or curling up in the corner of a coffee shop.

Winter is brutal, -40 windchills here every January, and the older I get the more I realize we don't get much snow. I like winter (again, only like winter days that are cloudy/dreary/snowy, HATE blinding sun and bitter cold in the winter) but more and more I'm realizing that it's often "too cold" to snow here and we just get the brutal cold with not nearly as much snow as most other places.

Spring is nice too, but the summer heat and humidity is unbearable.

Yes sir, I am in full fall mode at the moment.

Feel that 100%. I lived in Wisconsin for 29 years. Spring and Fall are just unbeatable. But man the winters are just long and brutal, and the summers are so freaking hot and humid. I felt like I was enjoying 3-4 months out of the year and "dealing with" the other 8-9 months.

Definitely fall.

I just recently moved to texas from florida and florida has no fall if you will. Texas really doesn't either from what i hear but i really enjoy cool/cold weather. I am weird like that.

Also, the combo of thanksgiving, the best time for sports in the year (college, nfl football, mlb playoffs) its just the best.

I prefer COLD weather over HOT weather because even if your heater is broken, you can still control your body temperature by wearing thermal clothing, layers of clothing, or electric blanket. You can sip on something hot. With 115 F heatwave and no ac, you can walk around naked in your home and it still feels like hell. You can eat something cold or take a shower, and after a few minutes, your body will still heat up again and you become dehydrated losing body fluid, and prone to exhaustion faster and headaches.

But there are a few things I like about the actual summer season. Back as a kid, I would love it because we took a 2.5 month break from school. I like summer because I can taste my favorite cold drinks, frozen yogurt, ice cream, and fruit shakes. The activities goes up like going to the beach, amusement park, movies, etc. My favorite fruit, Philippine mango, is in season those months. And the girls dress a little less, so there is another of something to taste there. :p

I also enjoy the longer daylight. I remember going to Paris back in end of June 2006. We stayed in a villa near Disneyland Paris and I will never forget when the sun was still out at 11:30pm. I was playing going ping pong with my relatives and we could still see the sun near midnight. There are moments when I love summer because of the refreshments and activities but I still prefer colder weather over hot. So winter it is for me thanks to the Christmas season, 13th month pay, Christmas bonuses, and New Year's Eve parties.

My favorite part of the year starts with Thanksgiving and ends on New Year's Eve. So late-fall to early-winter. I can't enjoy Halloween as much as I used to. It is for cosplay addicts and children. But Thanksgiving, Black Friday discount, Christmas, and New Year's Eve parties can be timeless for any age.

I've never been able to answer this question well. I find pros and cons to every season.

I DREAD the onset of fall - the days get shorter, the morning are dark, and that really screws with me. Seasonal Affective Disorder. I'm very in sync with the sun and hate waking up in the dark. Every morning is a challenge. I get moodier, less energetic, more tired, less motivated, less social, etc. The problem is not so much depression in the sense of hopelessness and poor self esteem- just the significant drain of energy.

I love fall days though- a nice cool breeze, leaves rustling in the wind, the leaves changing color, etc. It would just be nice if the mornings didn't suck.

I need to move out of New England.

I just scheduled a camping trip for the white mountains area in New Hampshire. One thing I love about camping in October (the trip is in a week) is cold nights - something about camping in the cool weather like that is really fun. The hiking in the fall is wonderful, not just because of the foliage but there's less people generally and of course less bugs :)

I like summer even though they are hot and humid here in Texas. But I like the summers because it gets dark at about 9 pm, I like seeing the sun from 6 ish am to about 9 pm everyday. :)

Summer is my favorite season because I love only having to wear shorts and tee shirts. I don't like all the bulky clothing that you have to wear in the winter and I hate driving to and from work in snow and ice.
