Ok its good to see people with the name themes. I know now that I'm not alone. My pods don't follow the theme, but they do have nice names so yeah.

Airport Express = The Net
Blue & white G3 = Mainframe
Powerbook = Megaframe
3G 20GB = Nostromo
1GB shuffle = BoomStick

OK ... this is a pretty obvious Alien reference.

Army of Darkness? Please tell me that it is. That would be quite clever.
Maybe he's just a Joseph Conrad fan. :) (Nostromo, Sulaco, and Patna [from the Alien³ novelization] are all from Joseph Conrad's novels.)

My iPod Shuffle's name is Besser!
Why the name Besser? 2 reasons:
1) first song i heard on the playa was by the band Dressy Bessy
2) i was going to name him Curly after the "Curly Shuffle" but i thought other people would name their iPod Shuffle "Curly". So I went with the other "3rd Stooge", Joe Besser

hence the name of my iPod Shuffle---> Besser

10GB 3G: Harmony
40GB 4G: NatPod (signed by Natalie Portman herself)
60GB Photo: Melody
1GB Shuffle: DaShuffle (for the moment until I can think of a cooler name)
Powerbook: Max
Power Mac: Maximus
3x LaCie 250GB: Columbia, Discovery, Challenger
60GB 7200RPM 7K60 in FW800 enclosure: Excalibur

My new 6GB mini is iDon. I engraved this on the unit as well.

Not so clever, but the guys at work have started calling iDon by name. :)

I really think MY ipods name is very good

My ipod's name is Hamish.----> My name is James, in latin my name in Jacob, and in Gaelic Jacob means Hamish. :D

HAHA.... too bad it has no reference to Conrad's books... that would just be too cool.

my ipod has "cole groff and kilgore trout" etched in the back.

kilgore trout is a character in kurt vonnegut books. cole groff is me.

i don't know if that counts as a name.

My 2G 10gig's called Ummon (goes with the WinterMute reference) I'm looking at a new 40 gig, but it means I have to ge read some Gibson again to find another name...
Use Count Zero. Best. Name. Ever.

Or figure out what the cube is called in pattern recognition. I can't remember if it had a name or if it was just "<character name's> cube".

I call my 4th gen iPod Megatron. Not original, but I can't recall the clever names I gave to my other 3G iPods that wound up being sent back to Apple. Megatron's been the healthiest so far.
I'll give you two you might like and you can pay me later. These are both noise bands, one from Chicago (or maybe detroit? I forget) and one from Japan:
Gravitar
Negatron (see, you just change one letter, instant creativity!)
