Heheh. Actually I'm a math professor and she's a financial specialist for an insurance company. But my first degree was in classical literature (Greek emphasis), which explains some of those names (as well as my screen name), and the same interests led me into Norse mythology and modern philosophy, which rounds out the list. :)

Crap, you wouldn't happen to be a professor at a Memphis college?

My Macbook is called pleiades.

I also name the hard drive partitions. The Mac OS X partition is also called Pleaides, and the Windows partition is called Alphekka.

My cellphone is called Aldebaran.

Stars.... interesting!

IMO MacBook is a real nice name! I call my machines that way only!

Macbook: Myrtle Macintosh
Ext HD: Helga
iPod: Irene

I name all my other stuff as well, like my Blackberry. Her name is Brenda. My car's name is Scooter. And checkbook's name is Chiquita.

On my laptop, it's still named Macintosh HD. On my desktop, it is named Mothership. I had to distinguish it from my other data drives.

Use to have "Mac OS X", then put it back to "Macintosh HD", now "Snow Leopard" and my external "Snow Leopard II". Backup drive is "Time Machine" (lol) and Boot Camp "Windows XP" (soon to be Windows 7)

My external drive is partitioned in half. The HFS+ part is called "Mac" and is used for TM and miscellaneous storage. The NTFS part is called "Windows" and is used for Windows backups and some storage.

How do I rename the Boot Camp drive?

Mine says BOOTCAMP, and it bothers me. I'd rather call it Windows 7.

I'm 99% sure that you need a Windows computer to rename it, so just do it in Bootcamp. Right-click and then go to properties I suppose.
