My iPod is named Def LepPod because of the excess of Def Leppard on it. And I have yet to name the Snow iMac G3 I bought.

wow people name their computers and ipods? doenst that come off as slightly weird?

What's weird about it? It's not like we talk to our products and call them by the names we give them, it's just for when they are plugged into our Mac. For example my old iPod was called Jerry so it just showed up as Jerry in iTunes, simply a random name for it. My hard drive is called iBanez because that's the manufacturer of my electric guitar, and I just though it'd be cool and quirky. But I don't call my laptop iBanez. It's just the name of MacHD. It's not weird in the slightest.

What did you name your macbook/macbook pro? =]

Still haven't given this 15" core i7 aluminum body of absolute sexiness a name yet.

Anyone named theirs? :p:apple:

MBP was called 'Sophie' by my girlfriend and it stuck. All of my network devices have names because "macbookpro-83" and "win-s4b29sh" don't do anyone any good.

But before the trolls come out in full force , i'll mention that there is a thread already dedicated to naming inanimate objects: What Is Your Mac's/iPod's Name?

Jesus II

No, I am not really catholic, it is just holy to me ....

PS: Jesus I was my first MBP, still alive and kicking but a gift for my mother :D

I named my MacBook Pro....MacBook Pro.

Seriously, it's a laptop. Why would you form such a close attachment to it as to give it a name?

I think they are talking about the physical name- like in the settings when you go through setup the first time....i hope.

This maybe?

The ability to read seems to be not existing with some I assume?

Example for a computer name:

As Eddyisgreat (I hope you meant Moose) already said, a unique computer name might have an advantage in a network environment.

Here is a guide on how to change the name of your computer, but attention, it uses letters: http://osxdaily.com/2007/02/15/changing-your-macs-computer-name/
