What is Your March 11th Game Plan?

You'll have to ask the reps in the store. They might make people form a line outside and/or pass out numbers.
There's always a possibility the line to ask the managers where to stand in line might be longer than the line to buy an iPad :D

Just called my local Target store (small sized town) and they said they have not been told of any certain time that they have to hold the iPad 2 till. They said they will start selling them first thing in the morning when they open (8am).

I take this as a grain of salt, but at least going to give it a shot and if they say No, not till 5pm, then ill be headed to the Apple store like most.

I'm kinda dreading the long wait

Yeah, truth be told I am too. I plan to get to the apple store between noon and 1pm, so that's a 4-5 hour wait regardless of line. But, I have a few books and new games loaded on my phone so I'll have something to do to pass the time.

Don't be upset if he doesn't come through, but good luck ;)

He actually called me back not to long ago letting me know the inventory for tomorrow so it looks promising!! thanks :)!

worse comes to worse, I will go across the street to the part of the shopping area and stop by the best buy :)

I work from my laptop, so I will just work from the mall food court, checking the line from time to time and get in line if it starts to get long. I remember for the launch of the first iPad, the lines were not really that long (compared to iPhone lines) and don't really anticipate the iPad 2 line to be that bad. I think if Apple thought the lines were going to be really long, they wouldn't wait until 5pm to put them on sale.

It didn't even hit me until today, but my game plan might be changed. I'm going to pay with cash. Does anyone know if BB allows that? I know that some places have started changing their policies with that.

I have an Apple store, Best Buy, Verizon, AT&T store all in my town. I think most people will be at the Apple store waiting in line on launch day so I am going to try the other options first. I don't have a lot of time to wait in line since I have to pick my kids by 6pm so I am going to get off work at 4pm, head straight to Best Buy and hope they have the model I want. Worst case scenario, I will go out saturday and try to get one. Worst, worst case scenario, I give up and order one online.

How crazy/accurate does this sound:

A Best Buy service rep told me that they typically don't get a a huge rush on launch events. My local BB is pretty close to an Apple store, and there are 4 Apple stores within about an hour of each other. She advised that for the last iPad launch, the nearest Apple store sold out before they did, and for the iPhone 4 launch, crowds didn't really show up until about noon. They sound pretty organized, and will be selling the 3g versions.

Does this sound nuts? Possible that it will be totally different this time around, what with the lack of preorders?

I can't decide whether to go to the Apple store (which is insanely crowded on any Friday night) or try Best Buy. I can arrive at my desired location around 3pm. What would you do? I humbly ask for your opinion. :)

Edit:

She also advised that they've been getting a ton of calls on this one. I'm hesitant because the iPad attracts people who don't normally go ga ga for Apple. More crowds?

kept going back and forth with trying out walmart at midnight tonight, but after reading these threads and calling the walmart earlier tonight, they said it won't be selling until 5 p.m. which is what i knew, but it was worth a shot i guess. the guy on the phone at the walmart said they expect to see a lot of people since a lot have been calling about it lately he said.

so i think i'm gonna either drive around to the targets tomorrow or call them and see how many of each kind they have in stock and then i'll probably get to either one of those or the walmart around 3 and wait around til 5 to buy it. i just hope there aren't people waiting at 3 in those areas, at least not a lot. i really don't want to try going to best buy.

i'm pretty sure i'll be able to find one somewhere tomorrow, but i guess if all else fails, i'll just suck it up and go saturday.

Work until 2:30 - 3. The only reason I am going that early is I want a 16gb Wifi.

Head out to Best Buy and see how the line looks.

If crazy walk next door to Target, or Wal mart.

Buy an iPad if I can, but if not on try again Saturday if that's a no go order online.

To many stores selling and I would think Apple the king of knowing demand and how to supply it has this together. They don't need to make artificial demand to get hype, and further more only the hardcore fans are lining up. Joe consumer will waltz in late in the day, or over the weekend trying to buy one.
