What measures will you take to protect yourself from iPhone X-inspired crimes?

  • Hire a bodyguard or become friends with one

  • Never take it out of pocket, ignore calls and texts from jealous wife and angry boss

  • Always leave it at home inside a plastic container in the fridge with the label "not iPhone X"

  • Only use in bed, under blankets, after midnight, after your deranged wife starts snoring

  • Upon UPS delivery, leave the box unopened until your next-door neighbor gets one too, circa 2020

  • Put it in a case mimicking Nokia 3310

  • Chain it to your ear, arm, neck, foot, or other body organ

  • Wear dirty smelly clothes pretending to be a bum who clearly does not, can not, and will not have X

  • Become an iPhone apostate, convert to Androism

  • Buy iPhone 8

You're looking at about $1500 for an iPhone X 256GB with applecare and a case. People will be getting rolled for their phones for sure.

Nu-uh! I'ma gonna roll with my homies on the 3rd. When fools see my X I'll get mad respect yo.

Nothing has more street cred than an iPhone. They'll know I'm ballin and leave me alone.

I’m from the UK dude..I have no idea why I keep spelling it like that when i use that in a sentence.

My fault. Should have checked your bio before making sarcy comments. Still, any Americans who read that comment: it still applies. :p

Wait, are you saying that Brits are allowed to make this heinous mistake?? But why??

Oh absolutely not, kind stranger. I was merely apologising for not realising he was UK based, he also stated that he is in fact aware of the correct form of this saying and made a typing error in his message here on MacRumors. Americans can seldom be forgiven so easily. ;)

Ummm, none. The phone is no different then a Samsung Galaxy, and I'm not going to walk around paranoid. I think most people outside of fan sites like MR, probably couldn't care less.

I don't get the "heinous mistake"?

If I "Could care less" it just means that yeah: I could care less. And sure, maybe I couldn't, if the situation were different, but as it is: I could potentially care less, so that's what I said.

Or:

If I "Couldn't care less" it simply means I couldn't.

Are you the intention police as well? Genuinely curious ;)

I am over 6ft, 17 stone and was a bouncer for 10 years. Had plenty of knives and things pulled on me. They all regretted it.

I will be fine.

I’m going to use my iPhone X as normal, no one is anymore likely to rob you for the iPhone X than they were for the iPhone 7 Plus.

OP isn't entirely wrong. People have been held up for phones and other possessions.

I have a CHL and pretty much have a gun on me whenever I have pants on so that'll have to do.

Not sure what people in the UK or Second Amendment-unfriendly states will do but there's not much I can do about that.

This reminds me of when I got the original iPhone and people would always come up to me and ask to look at the phone. Those people usually followed up by asking if I was afraid someone would try and rob me for it.

I don't think people really care anymore and it also depends on where you are and your surroundings. Personally im not worried about.

It's no doubt that if you are lucky enough to get your hands on iPhone X this year, you will be a huge target on the streets of wild Wild West. The unlucky ones all around you will salivate with envy and desperation at the sight of your fairy-tale iPhone X. What measures will you take to protect yourself from iPhone X-inspired crimes?

I doubt it, they will be laughing that you paid over a grand for the phone.
