same thing you know what i mean that they have some kind of backup near by the white house

I know what you mean. But as a Marine, I take exception to being "the same thing." We are not the same thing as the Army.

The question is how many are sitting on standby alert and how long would it take to round up a meaningful sized group for an assault? That is probably classified in some manner.

That is something I don't know. But I have to assume there is a quick reaction force on standby at all times.

Watched The Machinist with Christian Bale yesterday. This is the movie for which he lost 60 pounds. He's one intense actor. It's a dark but excellent movie.

woke up early to see

The Eyes of Laura Mars on TCM. Worth losing sleep over, I want to find the script for this because it's John Carpenter writing a Dario Argento style giallo (although nowhere near as gory.) This was a lot of fun. :D

Rasputin by Louis Nero. A recent Italian arthouse take on the death of Rasputin which was mostly disappointing despite Francesco Cabras' slimy perf as the title character. He is not in this short film near enough for the annoying c.g.i. shots and weak attempts at sensationalism featuring other characters - it should have been called Yusipov frankly. I could have watched another 10 minutes of the Khylsti sect business, but that's me.

And finally, Solomon Kane. LOVED it. Why the hell this film languished without a distributor for 3 plus years in the U.S., I do not know. Violent and supremely entertaining swashbuckling sword and sorcery with an absolutely ruling performance by James Purefoy. This film did Robert E. Howard very, very proud ah if you go by John Milius (I almost felt as if John Milius directed it - although there was no T&A so I guess not :D - it's not letter perfect to Howard but that's another reason why I loved it.) I want a sequel to this badly, alas that won't happen. Rented on iTunes, promptly bought on blu ray as the end credits rolled. Probably the most entertaining film I've seen all year.

and now zzzzzz.....

I remember that movie, but it's been so long, I can't remember if I liked it. Maybe I can stream it...

Watched Star Trek into darkness. Good follow up to the reboot movie. Loads of winks to original trek both obvious and nerd-level.

I just saw this one. I'd slipped away from the franchise somewhere around the second or third crossover movie, and I haven't seen the first reboot movie yet, but this was pretty and loud and overall enjoyable. I had trouble with Benedict Cumberbatch as Khan, but I thought the cast did a good job.

Streamed Django Unchained last night. Spoilers!

It was better than I anticipated although a bit over the top. Christoph Waltz walked away with the movie. He is a superb actor and was very sad to see his character expire... My critique is that people don't have pints of blood pooled just under their skin for magnificent blood explosions when shot... and I question whether someone who had basically never shot a gun could be a dead eye shot, although for suspension of disbelief purposes, I guess it's possible. I was expecting some masser/slave sexual encounters and thankfully there was none. Samuel Jackson's character deserved what he got. :)

Spoiler free:
Watched Gravity earlier today, and it was absolutely phenomenal. I rarely feel so strongly about a movie to recommend it like that, but it's a must see, especially in 3D (stunning visuals). So simple, yet so powerful. My only gripe was that the characters' back-stories could have been better, but that's a minor detail.

I agree with everything you wrote about Django Unchained, but especially that last bit about SLJ. :)

I guess over-the-top is one of Quentin Tarantino's signatures. ;) I guess I need to stream Gravity! :)

Loved the movie. Saw it in theatres on opening day. Actors were fantastic although agreeing with the above.

Hey Kazmac, wanted to thank you for bringing X-Men First Class onto my radar! Just finished it and really liked it. This and the first Hulk by Ang Lee are by far the best superhero flics I saw recently. Only drawbacks were the very mediocre soundtrack and the villain side, which wasn't fleshed out well. But that the latter is even excusable for such a genre movie speaks volumes.

Fassbender is a great actor!

Not a gamer, but I always thought Halo looked pretty cool, and I stumbled across the Halo movie on Netsux. Wow. Very very well made movie. I thought it was pretty awesome. Wait, did I say Netsux? I meant Netflix.
