One critique on the 2010 BBC version, I'm not yet sold on Moriarty. He seems slightly miscast, first impression.

Really?? I don't feel the same way. I think Andrew Scott did an amazing job playing Moriarty and I thought he was suitable for the role. It's a shame we won't be seeing him in the third season.

Sherlock on the other hand is extremely arrogant and occasionally really irritating. Sir Arthur Conan Doyle did depict him as arrogant and pompous, but not to that extent.

That being said, I really enjoy the show, however, I dislike that we only get 3 episodes per season.

He seems a bit mousey to me. Who knows maybe he'll grow on me. I have two more shows to watch in the Second Season. :)

Mousey? In look or overall appearance? Because if it's the look I think it'd be fine. Haven't seen an episode though.

Always thought Eric Porter to be a very fitting Moriaty.

3 episodes per season, and 1 season every TWO YEARS! Considering the wild popularity of the show, based on only 6 episodes total so far, you'd think the creators would feel pressed to make more at a faster pace than that.

Watched the second season of Lilyhammer that just came out on Netflix streaming and is their original series. Just as good or better than the first season. Highly recommended.

Am I the only one who really enjoyed Frozen? I think Disney did very well with this one... reminded me of classic Disney far more than their most recent releases.

Well, Benedict Cumberbatch is quite the hot commodity these days. While I'll agree the wait can be maddening, the quality of show is excellent. If that requires patience, so be it.

Seems the reason behind only three episodes is this:

"[The format is] very closely held," Eaton told Collider. "Steven [Moffat] crafts them, and Mark [Gatiss] writes some of them. It's a lot of work, and [Steven] also does Doctor Who and he worked on Tintin, so there couldn't be more than three."

Eaton argued that Sherlock co-creators Moffat and Gatiss use up all of their "creative juice" on the show.

"I think there will only ever be three at a time, if we're lucky," she said. "It's getting harder and harder to do another season, not just because Benedict and Martin [Freeman] are getting such high profiles, but Steven and Mark are busy and in demand."

I have a feeling the series will end soon despite its huge success. It seems that Cumberbatch and Freeman are starting to get recognized and also the creators seem to have a lot on their plate.

Clues to Sherlock the Movie

Steven Moffat, creator of the hit BBC TV show, has hinted that Sherlock could follow Doctor Who into the multiplex.

"If there was a really good reason [as to] why this story needs to be told in that way, then yes," said Moffat in response to a query at the screening. "[But] we [already] make films – we make three every 18 months!"

He added: "There would have to be a significant reason why you'd do it. Films, for some reason, take much longer to make, so you would be reducing the amount of Sherlock you're getting. So, I'm not sure.

I don't think it's the actors' other commitments, so much as production issues. Regardless, 2 years are a lot to ask of a TV audience. That's really pushing the limits of patience.

All six stories so far were based on Doyle's original Sherlock Holmes stories, meaning the basics were already written, and just needed tweaking to fit modern times. So there weren't that many "creative juices" being exhausted.

1- A Study in Pink - A Study in Scarlet (Long story)
2- The Blind Banker - Mostly based off Five Orange Pips (Short Story)
3- The Great Game - Mostly based off The Adventure of Bruce Partington Plans (Short Story)
4- A Scandal in Belgravia - A Scandal in Bohemia (First short story in Adventures of Sherlock Holmes)
5- Hound of the Baskerville - The Hound of the Baskervilles (Long Story)
6- The Reichenbach Fall - Final Problem (Last short story of Memoirs of Sherlock Holmes)

I agree with you.

Last night, I watched 'Unforgiven' again. As good as I had remembered it, in fact, a modern classic.

I totally agree one of the really great classic westerns, the feel of grit and grime of a killer for hire, no romantic rose glasses. Pure Magic. Did I mention that I really do like this film.

On a totally different theme.

I took my granddaughters to see Frozen in 3D, pure Disney magic. :)
Just listening to the audience of 350 children laugh.
During the intermission it was like herding cats, but no children were lost.;)

Finally watched Gravity.

Awesome movie.

up next: Blue is the Warmest Color

Finally got around to watching it. Highly recommend if you like French indie films. Cinematography is impeccable and the main actress is gorgeous. Warning though: contains graphic lesbian scenes.

Cool. I just got season 1-3 yesterday.

I loved it when I was young (watched it in German) but now watching it in English will be so much better!
It's probably the greatest sitcom ever and my favorite sitcom of all time.

Seasons 1, 2 and some of 3 are weak compared to how good it gets although there's some signs of it's hilariousness in those seasons specially in season 3 where there's some episodes which are just hilarious.

Anyway, I'm currently watching the Backchat Christmas Special.

Streamed The Mortal Instruments 2013- ehh, Shadow Hunters, Fairies, Werewolves, vampires, demons, forgot what the point was, oh yeah a bad dad Shadowhunter who consorted with demons and something or other. I did not read the book, but the movie was forgettable.

The Hobbit was great! Its mostly about the character arc of Thorin the dwarf king and his shedding of the old ways.

I thought the second hobbit movie (just came out) was somewhat mediocre and not worth spending money at the movies (I would rent it on Blu-ray when it comes out). The main problem I had with it is that it only followed 20% or so of the story in the book.

The Hunger Games Catching Fire movie was excellent and my favorite of the year.

...

It is outstanding.

Watched XMen Last Stand and I still have issues with what they did to Jean Grey. :p

Yeah, I did too; amongst other things (killing off Scott WTH?!?)

If I can say something polite besides liking Kelsey Grammer as Beast, at least Jean's demise dovetailed nicely into The Wolverine.

>>>

Watched Pacific Rim for the first time since seeing it in the theater. I still like Mako's character and the concept of the Jaegers, but I lost interest whenever both Charlies were on screen (Hunnam and Day.)
