The spin of the space station which gives the illusion of gravity to those dwelling on it would also keep the atmosphere in.

Neil Blomkamp is known for his hyper-realism mixed with political metaphor. A space station with only mansions in it is there to emphasize the gape between the two societies.

Overall I really enjoyed it. Yes I'll give you there are some strange situations that would never go over but it works within the storyline.

When I was a kid I had this book:

Inside there were some illustrations by John Berkey and Syd Mead of a torus style space colony from which the director got his inspiration. Some amazing design work in this movie.

Its about as watchable as District 9 which I thought was pretty good too. :)

I really enjoyed District 9. That mech was kick ass. :)

James Coburn in "Our Man Flint" & "In Like Flint", early 60's and wonderfully campy.

It's been a long time, but I remember liking that movie. :)

Earlier today I noticed that Riddick was available on iTunes early so I bought it. I'm about to start watching it now. I hope I like it as much as I did Pitch Black and The Chronicles of Riddick.

I loved Pitch Black but thought CoR was the pits.

Gonna be seeing Anchorman 2 in exactly one hour. :p

Good luck. I thought the original was working hard to be funny but did not succeed. One of the problems is that I have a difficult time tolerating Will Ferrell for an entire movie. Bit part, no problem. :)

Currently watching 1939 John Ford film "Stagecoach". A dandy Ford Western...certainly more interesting and complex than most Westerns of the time.

Elysium: Worth a rental for sure, not sure I would buy it.
2 Guns: Fell asleep but was entertaining. Would recommend it, was just very tired.
Pacific Rim: Better then I thought, I would say rent it for sure.

The Wolf of Wall Street was in a word, debaucherous.

All in all great movie. Had me laughing and horrified at the same time. Dicaprio's character, Jordan Belfort, was a mixture of Patrick Bateman, Gordon Geko, and Hunter Thompson rolled into one.

The story was, like so many of Scorseses movies, the rise and fall of a extraordinary person, however the fall wasn't so bad.

Also Margot Robbie is flaming hot hot hot in this.

I've watched Sunshine a few times already and watched it again last night. I really enjoyed this science fiction flick as it's a bit different from the norm.

I just finished Event Horizon.

I'm surprised I hadn't seen it previously. It was okay, and not fully what I expected it to be.

I saw it a while ago, and felt that it was so-so at best.

In ½ an hour I will once again watch 1944 "Gaslight". Such a wonderful film. Bergman's eyes tell everything! Boyer was fine, but I thought Joseph Cotton was miscast as the Scotland Yard inspector. The American accent is jarring, and he is a bit bland for the intense ambience of the film. He wasn't bad, but someone else might have been better cast.

This film is everything that Hitchcock wants to make, tries to make, and consistently fails to make... because of his need to be annoying cute and unsuccessfully tricky.

Stumbled onto The Secret in Their Eyes, the 2010 Best Foreign Language Oscar winner. This Argentine film is a crime drama about a washed up criminal investigator and a judge who open a rape/murder cold case and their feelings for each other.

Very engrossing characters and the shifts between the 25 year span from original crime to the present was very done.

The zinger involving the resolution of the crime was quite good and I liked how the film ended.

I can see why it won the Oscar.

It had potential, but in the end disappointed me. On the other hand, having just watched Avatar, I'm going through Pandora withdrawal. ;) Love this movie... a unique technical achievement with a great story.

Yup, the way it ended was a disappointment for me too. I was hoping for more about a Black Hole than what it was.

I like Avatar too and saw it twice at the IMAX.

The Wolverine extended with mom. I loved it, she loved it. She cannot wait to see it again. I've trained her well. :D

I will be very happy if Jackman and Mangold do one more together.

I enjoy both versions of the film. I love it more each time I watch.

For a long time Wolverine fan who has not been a fan of the comics for the last dozen years, I'll gladly take Hugh in the role for as long as he wants to play Logan.

Great movie indeed. Most of the films with Darin (lead actor) are great.

What's in the extended version?

a little bit more

What's in the extended version?

Mariko being able to protect herself and Logan (to an extent.)

A little bit more dialog between Wolverine and Yukio (always welcome.)

Some additional hints about why the villain pursued Logan. In case anyone did not pick this up in the theatrical version (I thought it was clear, but I can appreciate the extra info.)

A little bit more blood when Wolverine went berserk.

The ninja fight was extended; I thought the theatrical version of that fight was significantly better.

To me, both cuts were really good when it came to Logan. As a long time Wolverine fan, that's all I ask. Everything else was just a nice bonus.

I was blown away the first time I saw this. Totally enthralled with the first 2/3 of the movie, getting really invested in the mission and survival of the crew members. You know what happens next, of course.

The Wolf of Wall Street - It was not at all what I expected, which was "Wall Street" meets "Great Gatsby." Instead it was more like "Wall Street" meets "Superbad." It was interesting, and entertaining, but not nearly as good as reviews make it out to be. There are definitely funny parts (notably the red candle scene and the "cerebral palsy" scene, which was terrible but hilarious at the same time), but the movie is WAAAAY too long. Leonardo DiCaprio does a great job though, excellent versatile actor.

It was raunchy and funny, and then the next day, I read this open letter by Belfort's partner's daughter, and now the movie seems very inappropriate.

Thanks for the info. It sounds like the extended version is really worth checking out.
