2) Fabio has very tiny roles in Barbarella and OUATITW. He was still a stunt man then (and boy did he earn his lira in his 1 minute stunt for Once. Ouch!) Not worth buying those films (if you do not own them already) for him.

3) Enzo Castellari made a couple of great westerns and killer 70s police films. He produced a couple of fine works with Franco Nero, but his films with Fabio Testi are fantastic.

If you can find an Italian Dub/German/English subtitle dvd for The Big Racket - go for it. The film looses a bit of it's very nasty punch with the English dub.

My personal favorite Castellari/Testi film is The Heroin Busters. Most people prefer Racket, but I am not most people. :p Fabio has terrific chemistry with David Hemmings (Deep Red, Barbarella and Blow Up), the film is funny, crazy and has a nearly 30 minute chase scene.

4) Yes. If you can find What Have They Done to Solange? Go for it. That is my favorite non-Argento giallo and considered one of the best ever made. I agree with that 100%

Thanks! Excellent recommendations... *rubs hands*

Last weekend I caught Draft Day with Kevin Costner, Dennis Leary, and Jennifer Garner. I really liked it. It's one of the first professional football movies I've ever seen where the NFL actually agreed to participate and allowed the real league to be represented in the film. I jokingly told my wife that it was funny they used the Browns as the main team. It's like they were trying to give their fans something to be excited about after years of disappointment. :D

If you are a NFL football fan I think you'll like the movie.

LOL...yeah, Barbarella was pretty darn bad. I still can't get poor David Hemming's leather hot pants out of my head (it's not a pretty sight.)

Hope you like the other recommendations.

Going to watch The French Connection (again) tonight. I love Popeye Doyle; he was rocking that stingy brim long before Walter White.

I saw this painting (Sunday on La Grand Jatte) a decade ago at The Smithsonian (on loan) for an Impressionist show. Usually I love Impressionists, until I saw a Monet show in Minneapolis, highlighting his "Blue Period", apparently when he was depressed. :)

What's wrong with his Blue Period?? Not too much into Impressionism/Pointilism anyway anymore but
the pic I posted is a photograph of my fav Thomas Struth. It hangs on my wall. :)

Saw Only God Forgives (curious whether it's related to God Forgives...I don't in some form). Excellent film, absolutely loving it. Best Widn-Refn flic I've seen. Some sort of existentialist/modern Western like revenge flic and great at that.

God: "What's your excuse?" - then punishes :D

Captain America: TWS- Pretty good. I guessed who was the behind the scenes bad guy as soon as I saw him. :)

Glad you liked it. That guess was pretty easy and a nice wink to that actor's history.

Re: Only God Forgives and God Forgives but I don't = perhaps in title and western themes only. The original spaghetti western is not as vicious as Refn's film from what I have heard. Glad you liked.

For scientific purposes :p I forced myself to watch that one scene in Barbarella where Testi might be. I am not sure it is him (never a clear shot of his face, but I could be wrong, if that is indeed him right body type does not quite look like him face-wise though.)

Have you seen it? Very viscious indeed - but beautiful at that! So beautiful - score goes hand in hand. Very effective. Very curious what you'd think of it - and I know you're not into Refn at all. Still would be very interesting. He's hit and miss for me, but when he hits (Drive but especially Only..)..OMG!:D

I too welcome the movie being only about 90mins - formally a nice length imo.

I love the movie How The West was Won and the Cinerama experience, here is a link to the Eli Wallach thread where I posted 5 other images. An idealizied, but still an incredible movie and viewing experience. Look at the full size images. :)

Me too! I love that house, and oh the actors too! :)

I didn't. The long hair really threw me off. I also never read any cap'n america comics so that didn't help either.

Not referencing the assassin although that guy was a surprise too. :) Always pick the most authoritative, best buddy, or least likely character, to be the guy you had no idea was the bad guy, although as previously mentioned the actor in this case had a very thin facade. :):)

I have not. Just read about it. Glad you enjoy it though. If it's a .99 rental at iTunes, I'll give it a whirl.

As someone who loved the storyline when I stumbled into it 9 years ago, the assassin was no surprise for me, but I loved how the movie did the reveal. This and the movie evil overlords made a great storyline even better.

The character you are referencing was easy to see in the big bad role, especially since he was playing the exact opposite of the characters from his roles in political thrillers. In fact, one of his first lines here revealed the whole scenario. I only noticed that on viewing # 15. :p

Thor 2: The Dark World - I don't know why it took me so long to finally watch this. It started off slow, and had a handful of cornball one-liners (as expected from Marvel), but turned out to be alright by the end.

Guardians of the Galaxy - "I AM GROOT!" It definitely had a few funny moments, and was pretty entertaining. But honestly, I don't agree with all the reviews. I mean, it was good but not great. And despite all the big CGI, it looked cheaply made (or perhaps that was the intention?).

Neighbors - It's your typical "neighbor from Hell" movie with a few laughs, but nothing original.
