Watching Twilight: Breaking Dawn Pt2- hard to believe that the head of the vampires, Aro is the same actor who plays grumpy Dr Masters in Master of Sex, Michael Sheen. TBDP2 is an ok wrap-up of the series, which I found to be a little too mushy overall- a romance novel for teenagers. :)

I watched "The Painting" (or Le Tableau), a French animated film which was really lovely. Beautiful story and animation. Love, death, cruelty, existentialism & paint.

If you liked this one I think you are going to like these too.

The Rabbi's Cat (Le Chat Du Rabbin)
The Illusionist (L'illusionniste)
Tales Of The Night (Les Contes De La Nuit)

Watched a couple of 'space' movies lately.

Alien for two times in two wweks actually, just got me the new bluray which has an incredible picture! Brilliant movie but most know that anyway.

Prometheus - once again. Got better the third time actually. Still my main issue is with the crew being presented as some sort of rock-stars with some rather unbelievable actions / details.

Interstellar - pretty dissapointing. Good cast, although I don't rate Anna Hathaway that high, but a Nolan story is never really good imo and gets always worse the more one thinks about it. Cinematography is ok most of the time. Score is horrendous imo and put me out more than I could take. Wouldn't watch again because of that alone (Zimmer type of score) :( Some scenes were quite amazing though.

Moon - watched it again today and it's what Interstellar would like to be. Pretty perfect in my book. Simple story (not simplistic) beautifully presented. Also no need to have about 2.5h to makea point (which is ultimately failing anyway - looking at you Interstellar! lol) just about right in everything.

Sadly missed an Argento Dracular screening in our little neighborhood backstage cinema by two days.

Watched interstellar.

Beautifully made movie. Some parts had me scratching my head.

Saw it yesterday atoo and ya, a lot of head scratching was involved! :D

I loved those robot designs though! Fantastic. Also liked their lines - up to 95%! lol

Spoiler: to clarify: I sort of really enjoyed Interstellar (not the score though) up until the point when he jumps into the black hole to end up behind his bookshelf. that's just ridiculous and killed the whole plot in the end for me.

I saw Mockingjay, Part 1 last night with my family. Really enjoyed it. Can't wait to see the final movie.

I'm temped to wait until next year and watch both together.

I saw it yesterday. It was decent, but not much happened. I guess I should have expected that since the last book is split up, just like they did with harry potter.

Also watched Theory of Everything on friday. Movie was pretty good, but the acting was the highlight. Can't remember the last time I saw a movie with super strong lead male and female roles.

I agree. It was really good, but I wish they hadn't milked the series and split the final movie into 2 parts. The more I think about it, Part 1 doesn't seem to stand as a movie on it's own, it's basically a long build-up to Part 2. Enjoyable, but somewhat incomplete nonetheless.

Also saw Life of Crime. It was pretty good overall. A few laughs here and there.

This morning I finished Dark Shadows. I haven't seen the TV show or original movie, so I don't know how it compares. I thought that the story was a little weak, with the moment of character development falling flat. For me, the tragedy is that I really liked the Killer's cover of "Go all the Way", but it's not available on iTunes or Amazon, and it's not on the soundtrack.

That is actually the same exact part that had me at "wut."

Up till that point, i thought it was a great movie.

That 'speech' by Hathaway about love caught me really bad. 'Woah?! You serious? Lol!"

Too bad, was actually really exciting in parts. *shrugs*

I saw Mockingjay Part1 on Friday morning. It had some great parts but is just a big set up for part 2 obviously. We'll have to wait until next November to see how Katniss kills.... i won't say.

Also saw Interstellar again in IMAX. Terrific film. Very well crafted storywise. If you look at it for what it is, a stand alone movie, its very very good. The second time thru I noticed a lot more emphasis on the "ghost" where I may not have picked it up the first time thru.

At the end of 2001 he's in a art deco living quarters and it didn't ruin the movie for me. When Cooper is in the tesseract/5th dimension inside the blackhole it didn't bother me at all! Maybe its easier for me to just "go with it".

That was the Tesseract, a very Scifi plot device, a means to reach across time, you either buy into it or not. :)

I have no problem with multiple books, multiple movies, however the most heinous example of "milking it" is the Hobbit, an approximately 300 page book turned into 3- 3 hour movies. The third movie consists of a one or two chapters in the book. For the Hungar Games, splitting the third book into 2 movies is an abuse of the audience.

I think audiences have tired of Johhny Depps quirky characters, and I did not like the story either. :)
