lub me some silent films...faust, the golem, metropolis, battleship potemkin, nasferatu and of course the aforementioned title...

all great ones! you should give "Frau im Mond" (Woman on the Moon) by Lang a try. One of my favs when it comes to silent movies. Mabuse is great too, both parts. Since you liked Caligari (20s) as well I suggest Vampyr by Carl Dreyer. one of the very early non-silent movies so you can barely understand what is said :D amazing atmosphere and cinematography imo.

will do! Mabuse i am somewhat familiar with... cheers!

i left off M ... Peter Lorre is the best!

I saw Mockingjay, Part 1 last night with my family. Really enjoyed it. Can't wait to see the final movie.

Caught this today. Enjoyable, but I still don't like the changes in perspective from the first person narrative in the book. Feels like they could have made a single movie out of it.

Just finished Silverado, a good western.

Dr. Mabuse, the criminal mastermind :D

I've seen the first two Mabuses: Dr. Mabuse - The Gambler [1922], and The Testament of Dr. Mabuse [1932]. They're both excellent and the actor of Mabuse, Rudolf Klein-Rogge, is totally awesome! There are many more, and at least on - 1000 Eyes of Dr. Mabuse - was directed by Lang as well. think it was during the 60s.

As is Peter Lorre...

...anyone seen his Mr.Moto movies? Always curious about them.

I was so dissapointed when I first saw this movie... but I matured and saw the error of my ways. :)

Haha. "Open the pod bay doors." "I'm afraid I can't do that Dave." That scene just played a couple of minutes ago.

The weak point of that movie, seems to be when Dave blasts himself into the hatch without a helmit, exposing himself to a vacuum, even momentarily. I can overlook, but have always questioned it.

Agreed. Suspension of disbelief fails at that moment.

Apparently you can survive something like that for a few seconds. Not sure how long and I'm sure it would hurt like hell but it's supposedly possible.

I seem to remember things like your blood boiling and eyes popping, basically a debilitating, then lethal state. I go with SOD. :D

Maybe I stand corrected: http://www.geoffreylandis.com/vacuum.html :)

According to Scientific American:

Animal experiments and human accidents have shown that people can likely survive exposure to vacuum conditions for at least a couple of minutes. Not that you would remain conscious long enough to rescue yourself, but if your predicament was accidental, there could be time for fellow crew members to rescue and repressurize you with few ill effects.

Any fans of Sin City see the sequel ? I'm thinking about watching it but I don't wanna be let down. The original movie was so good.

While I wasn't a fan of the first sin city, I saw its niche appeal. The second movie is garbage though.

I just finished watching Saving Private Ryan, and it was great! I also watched Shooter (2007) a few days ago, also a great movie!

Death Race (2008)- Jason Stratham: STUPID.

Battleship (2012)- Absolutely Fun escapism, USNavy against the aliens with the help of the Japanese. :):) Pleasing visuals. Highly upgraded version of The Last Ship. ;) My only issue with this movie, would be an advanced alien civilization using ballistic weapons, although I can't say it's absolutey impossible! :p
Taylor Kitsch is good. My favorite role of his was Gambit, in X-Men Origin: Wolverine. He really had a prescence in that film.
