Though, some of the opening scenes were identical to the original. For instance, the old man getting his hand covered in it, then running down the road and having the young kids find him and take him into town, was pretty much exactly the same. I'm halfway through it right now...

I like the twist in this plot as compared to the original, the role of the scientist... That is if I remember correctly, this aspect of the story did not exist in the original. :)

Awakenings. I love this move :)

"Awakenings is a 1990 American drama film based on Oliver Sacks' 1973 memoir of the same title. It tells the true story of British neurologist Oliver Sacks, fictionalized as American Malcolm Sayer (portrayed by Robin Williams), who, in 1969, discovered beneficial effects of the drug L-Dopa. He administered it to catatonic patients who survived the 1917–28 epidemic of encephalitis lethargica. Leonard Lowe (played by Robert De Niro) and the rest of the patients were awakened after decades of catatonia and have to deal with a new life in a new time. The film was nominated for three Academy Awards."

Scary Movie 4 (2006)- deliciously aweful comedy, lol. I chuckled a couple of times. Includes parodies of The Grudge, War of the Worlds, The Village and some others I was not sure of. I love the parody of Tom Cruise on Ophra. :p

Magnolia (1999)- Saw this in the theater, but my wife had to remind me. :p Described as an epic mosaic of interrelated characters in search of love, forgiveness, and meaning in the San Fernando Valley. Well it tries to be epic...it did not draw me in. Better described as a menagerie of troubled souls seemingly all trying to implode at the same time.:D All star cast. Tom Cruise is male chauvinist inspirational speaker, but he is just one part of many.

Hereafter

Watching Hereafter right now. It is bad, well I don't think it. It is so bad I am on MacRumors right now while it is still playing.

I enjoyed the first part of it last night before I fell asleep. I'm about to park myself in the recliner and watch the last part in a few minutes. Around 21:30 now and I'll probably be asleep before it turns midnight …

Postscript

I enjoyed the whole thing :)

Well, I think I might have mentioned this particular movie earlier today, ever so briefly. In a discussion about microphones, I seem to recall…..

….Anyway, enjoy. By that I mean enjoy the movie (and it is a good one), and enjoy the microphone…….

I seem to recall having a conversation about this film in the not too distant past! It was a good recommendation too.

I had forgotten about this movie.

In fact, the basic premise is so intriguing that the very title as an expression to describe that concept has even crept into everyday language and speech. There is no greater measure of a movie, or book's success in influencing popular, or everyday culture, than this.

Yep and it's now one of those contemporary classic movies too. Always a good one to watch.
