Since "Tusk" was made available on Prime video, I watched that last night. The first half was Very good, and Very well put together. After Johnny Depp showed up, it just got REALLY bad.

I probably would not advise watching it- I just watched because I like Clerks, and Kevin Smith usually has some good heart to his movies. Not this time.

Introduced the kids to the original Jurassic Park last night. It was fun. :D

Introducing our kids to classic movies from our past can have mixed results. Sometimes my daughter loves them, other times she says they are dated and rubbish. I seem to recall Jurasic Park didn't go down well with her.

Currently watching Valkyrie. Quite a watchable story.

Furious 7. It was fun, completely unrealistic, but I still enjoyed it a lot. The ending just takes this movie to a whole different level. A fitting tribute to the late Paul Walker. RIP :(

Ah, excellent. Do, please, let me know what you think of 'The Fantastic Mr Fox' - it got very good reviews.

My brother gave me a DVD of 'Grand Hotel Budapest' - as I had expressed an interest in seeing it - which I have yet to sit down and watch.

I'd demand to know what's not enjoyable about JP!! :p

Watched The Silver Linings Play this morning (Mrs AFB choice!). What a strange movie I'd never heard of with an all-star cast. Actually quite enjoyable.

Silver Linings Playbook, I assume. A great movie. :)

Too stylized for both me and my wife. Neither of us cared for it and were surprised it was up for Oscars, not that this is the only opinion conceivable regarding this movie. ;) Obviously some people liked it.

Watching at the moment Banditskiy Peterburg (Бандитский Петербург), consists of 10 seasons (22 DVDs). Will be a long run.

What's it about?

I rented Interstellar (2014) on the Apple TV a couple of days ago and watched it. I thought it was really good, despite being nearly 3 hours long and an ending that went a little beyond what I was expecting. But, overall a very good film.

A team of explorers travel through a wormhole in an attempt to ensure humanity's survival.

Sorry, thats probably the correct title!

As for JP (and other older films) the generic it's dated is the usual response! Teenagers!

I assume the dated comment has to do with the story telling and not the technology (CGI), as that is still cutting edge. It makes me wonder what is held up for comparison as not dated? ;) It always irked me how they butchered the original story when making these movies, but SS managed to get most of its elements into the sequels. I thought JP3 was quite good. :)

I like them all to be honest. The sort of films when you don't have to think too much about the story and you can just enjoy the carnage and effects.

Thanks for your swift - and honest - response.

Yes, it got some good reviews from sources I respect.

Interesting; as I have been given 'Grand Hotel Budapest' by my brother, (and really like that ironic and slightly melancholic world, both real and fictitious of the old Habsburg or communist world of Eastern Europe), I imagine that I will watch it some night soon.

As I observed to Huntn, above, 'Fantastic Mr Fox' received glowing reviews from some of the writers whose reviews I respect, so I'll probably watch it when opportunity arises.

I've not seen FMF. For GBH, it was the live action in a stylized cartoon nature of the story telling that detracted from the story. I was not anticipating this, and apparantly I'm picky about such things. I look forward to your eventual review and no hard feelings no matter which way it goes. :)

Agreed. It was an ambitious film, which for the most part worked out. It's the kind of movie you want to see on a big screen with a decent sound setup (worth seeing in IMAX). As usual, Hans Zimmer does a great job scoring the entire thing.

Also got this through our Apple TV to watch with the family last night. Everyone was home for once, and we couldn't decide what to watch. Being able to instantly stream this in 1080p was great, though I still feel that £13.99 for a digital copy is somewhat expensive.

If a rental, I agree. I saw this at the theater but will stream it to make a purchase decision. Although I was entertained, I'm not sure yet if it crosses my "buy" threshold. ;)

The Lady From Shanghai (1947)
Fascinated by gorgeous Mrs. Bannister, seaman Michael O'Hara joins a bizarre yachting cruise, and ends up mired in a complex murder plot.
