Surly 'Good morning Vietnam' must get a mention.

Currently watching a classic. Rambo. The first and best of the franchise.

Can't even understand how I forgot to add that one to my list.
Yip, Good Morning Vietnam is on my list.

----------

Just saw "John Wick" and "Big Hero 6".

Both were great fun to watch. Planning on finally seeing "Chappie" this weekend at the theater. Been busy with studying the last couple of weeks, was afraid to miss its theatrical run, but Saturday I'm going.

Saw Whiplash in the cinema last night. Though it was one of the best music-related films I've seen in a long time. Great jazz music, snappy dialogue and sn entertaining story.

Just finished another Studio Ghibli with my daughter. Very different feel to the others I have seen, but also very confusing. I don't think the 20 minute nap I had helped!

That one is definitely the more adult of all of the Studio Ghibli works. So it's worth watching from beginning to end.

Your daughter will definitely like The Secret World of Arietty. I still prefer Naussica of the Valley of the Wind out of all of them. :)

BL.

The China Syndrome (1979)- a good but not great movie about safety shortcuts at a nuclear power plant. Jack Lemon, Jane Fonda, Michael Douglass. Released 12 days before Three Mile Island, it catapulted to a hit. When humans are involved, I can easily see something like this happening- denial, tunnel vision.

Movie trivia: TMI is where secret mutant research was conducted... ;)

Watched Stolen last night with Nicolas Cage. A little predictable, but the sort of film you could watch without engaging the brain too much. Still think it's a bit of a stretch that someone would chop off their leg and fingers to fake their own death. I think I'd rather go to jail than do that.

I looked up my review from 2008 and it seems I absolutely loved Hancock, and yet now I can't remember a single thing about.

Currently watching "Burning Bright" from 2009-2010 Its about a girl and her autistic brother trapped in a house with a tiger roaming around, oh and for good measure there is a Hurricane coming.

its actually better than it sounds, and its nice to see Meat Loaf pop up at the beginning.

Avengers : Age of Ultron...

It opened here today, April 22nd, in the Philippines. We get it over one week earlier than the US. I probably need to rewatch it again because there is alot going on. It had some slow parts like the original but the action scenes were stellar. Many Avengers battle each other like there is a Royal Rumble going on!

8.3/10

Spoiler Alert -

No sight of Spider-man or Captain Marvel! And there isn't much of setup between Iron Man vs Captain America for Civil War. They are still cool at the end.

I'm in wait and see mode. As a rule I've been happier with super hero films that focus on a single or smaller group of super heroes because it provides more opportunity for character development. I'm not a big fan of the first Avengers film.

I've been a bit annoyed that the rest of the world gets to see new U.S./U.K. made movies before the States. Does anyone know why that is? I'll answer my question. :) My brief research indicates possibly several reasons-

*70% of a movies revenue comes from outside the U.S.
*Reduce piracy due to widespread release.
*Rating delays in the U.S.
*Guage audience reaction for possible reedit for U.S. Release.

I view reducing piracy as a likely probable reason.

unfriended 2015

I wanted to watch unfriended the movie, but I heard very bad reviews. So I guess I wont watch that. But I'm still behind and cant wait to watch Fast & Furious 7!! Heard only GOOOD reviews!!!

I just got back from Age of Ultron. Good comedic fun :)

Just to save everyone some time, there is no post-credits scene in this one. There IS a scene after the cast, but there's nothing right at the end.

Is it better/different than the first Avengers movie though? Because I almost fell asleep in that one, wasn't 'funny' either. Could get free tickets but not even keen about it. Btw. many theatres in Germany are boycotting the movie due Disney's price policy.

Superhero flics in general are getting rather tedious and very samo, samo nowadays imo. Not really hyped about a single one anymore.

If you didn't like the first one then you probably won't like the second either. As for prices, I haven't heard anything there. My ticket was the same price as any other movie, NZ$14 (€9.88).

I didn't like it the first time around; I think I subconsciously found San "unimportant" as I was waiting for Mononoke to show up. The second time around, a couple of years later, I enjoyed it a lot more.

In my opinion it should've been translated as something to the effect of "the spirit princess"; as it stands it sounds like a name.

もののけ【物の怪】
an evil spirit; 【死霊】the spirit of a dead person; 【生霊】a wraith.
▸ 彼は物の怪にとりつかれているようだ
He seems to be possessed by an evil spirit.

The latest one I've seen was "When Marnie Was There". It's... weird. I don't really have anything else to say about it at this point but I think I'll need to rewatch it to get a fuller understanding.

No, not the ticket price but what a theater would have to pay to rent the movie (so they can show it). Hope they can solve this, would hate to see even more of the smaller places die down. I'm rather watching at home than in those multiplexes.

I bet they don't boycott Disney in December!
