Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015)- Did not care for the execution of this story, blah action music, the CGI was not smooth and flowing, overbearing mind-numbing frantic action felt fake, minimizing the impact of fabulous feats. :p The CGI villain, ehh.

PS, I've never been an Avenger film fan and I expect distinct disagreement regarding this opinion. ;)

No I agree with this, ultron was trash. Horrible screenplay. It's like they don't even care about dialogue and just want to write these "funny" one liners to gain cheap laughs in an audience who clearly doesn't care about anything other than going to a movie to see action (which wasn't even good). Also, ultron just sounded like James Spader's character from Boston Legal speaking through a voice synthesizer. My personal opinion of course. Thor hitting captain america's shield creating those shockwaves is cool though.

I hated Iron Man so much in this film, I really disliked the film in general tho.

Since you've encouraged me, I've don't like Johansson's Black Widow, it's as if she is intimidated and uptight working with these other stars or the script writer and director have failed to pull out her potential. She has been much better in movies like Lucy and The Island. I'm tempted to watch Lucy again.

Regarding CGI, specifically frantic CGI, I'd like to send a message to the movie makers, more is not better. Pacing and buildup is so much more important. After a threshold is suddenly breached, the impact of this kind of action is numbing and minimizes what I am seeing, pulling me out of the story, making me not care what incredible sight I see next. Technically it's impressive, but I've not been impressed with it since Star Wars Episode 2, where the heroes hop, skip, and jump though a CGI production factory. I'm also reminded of the later Transformers where it was sometimes hard to keep track of what my eyes were seeing. This stuff will not carry the movie without a compelling story.

One thing I liked was the transformation of the Twins from bad guys to good, but then...

I hated her too, the only character that had depth for me was hawk eye and it's a shame they only did that for me because they wrote him off because he was basically useless anyway. Sucks that black widow is going to be around longer because they OBVIOUSLY wrote hulk off so they could make a film soley on him in the future.

That's Uriel and Eimin, right? Haven't seen the movie (nor did I read Age of Ultron, Bendis is pretty much discredited as far as I know by the "real" fans, not sure I'll do although it's on TV now) but I absolutely loved them in the Uncanny Avengers comic run last year. Is Kang in the movie? Like that character a lot too. Guess not though.

In fact, I believe that run would make for an awesome action/popcorn flic!

Nope. They are most def "good guys" in my book - both Mutants (Magneto's kiddos). Scarlet Witch is quite an awesome character I'd say, at one point she tried to kill all mutants (Oops) via hexhex hence got some bad rep - maybe that was the starting point in the movie? Anyway she rolled with the Avengers intitially.

When I say "bad guys", the term is relative. ;) I remember Quicksilver from X-Men comics. In this movie they start out aligned with HYDRA with a vendetta against Stark because a bomb with his name on it landed on their apartment building, orphaning them when they were kids.

Perhaps low comedy just isn't for you.

(Personally, I'm a fan of all three of those films.)

Idiocracy has a little more in the way of satire than those other two films, and some of it is _oustanding_ (and I guess easily missed ...), but it was backed filled with a weird mix of absurd humor and sight gags that didn't play off the satirical setup very well and were hit or miss (mostly the latter), though I think the movie as a whole worked.

If you want the perfect blend of Mike Judge satire with really +funny+ sight gags and absurdism (that's glorious if you know anything about the modern tech-sect in the valley), a perfect mix of really dark humor, and you liked Office Space, I'd highly recommend the TV show Silicon Valley.

Just watched Furious 7. It was really entertaining, but the action scenes are getting pretty out there. I think they are running out of (realistic) ideas when it comes to action scenes with cars :p The tribute scene for Paul was pretty well done too.

Curious to see what the next new movies (yes, there will be more) are going be like.

I watched What If last night. No idea why it was put on my list, but it was a decent, if predictable romantic comedy. IMDB rates it really low, but I've seen much worse.

I saw Sicario and it was really awful. I'm not sure why is getting 93% on rotten tomatoes. It had long stretches of people driving with no dialog or point that seemed way out of place. Also who you think is the main character of the film, Emily Blunt, isn't even present during the main ordeal of the movie and she had zero character arc. A waste of time.

I also saw the Martian which was very pretty to look at in real 3D. As far as recent Ridley Scott films are this was better than most. I felt they could have cast someone other than Matt Damon but he did well anyway. Thumbs up for this film.

The Walk was meh.

Yeah, I suppose it's a somewhat decent retelling of an unbelievable true tale - but why? The definitive version was already made: Man On Wire; James Marsh's 2008 documentary is quite simply a film masterpiece. In this docudrama remake, the addition of obviously cartoon renditions of the event itself, deflate any semblance of reality.

If you've already seen Man On Wire, this is a middling little bauble to remind you of it's superior antecedent.

If you haven't seen Man On Wire, for goodness sakes don't waste your virgin viewing on this pale shadow.

Nope. I got your back Huntn. I am not an Avengers fan either.

I tried to look past that and attempted to watch a few minutes of this. I couldn't shut the videos off fast enough. I can roll with camp dialog like no one business, but the dialog, ideas and execution is constantly forced and attempting to be witty. I'll leave it at that, lest I go into rant-girl mode.

Thanks for the consensus! This was streamed. Now I have to question if I'll ever stream any more of them Avengers. :p

I've always preferred more or less individual stories regarding super heroes. I know this is a repeat song I'm singing, but I believe more of an individually focused story makes for a better story. I can produce several examples of this. Although it can be argued X-Men 1 & 2 are ensemble, the main focus was Wolverine's story and it was pretty fabulous until they short changed Jean Grey's story in X-Men 3, bastardos! :)

Ensemble stories like Avengers leave much less time for individual character development and tend to focus on hardcore, in this last Avenger chapter mindless action just to eat up minutes in the name of entertainment for lack of a story. Did Iron Man really have to spend 10 minutes trying to get the Hulk under control? I remember thinking this has nothing to do with meat of this story, but trashing downtown to do it, cooool.

I don't know...the whole Hulk/Iron Man and Hulk not really being in control thing might not be part of the specific story, but the movies are about more than just that, they are about background storylines as well that deal with the team, its members, SHIELD and that whole universe in general--they are basically taking the approach that the comics have had where a whole universe is built out and dealt with while specific smaller storylines are explored.
