Jurassic World (2015)- Second viewing, same basic story as all Jurassic movies, Man creates dinosaur, dinosaur eats man, but pretty darn good. :)
My youngest loved this movie. I enjoyed it, but I did not care for Chris Pratt, or Opie's daughter, or the other "chick", or really any of the characters.
I liked that BD Wong was just as big a stupid ass as he had been in the original movies.
I really want one of the pods from G-Force. Even if that means that Stupidosorous is going to eat me.

I did enjoy the assistant getting taken by the flying dinosaur, and then being eaten by the water thingy. That was awesome.

The Club (1981) - if anyone gets me to watch gangsters beyond 1960s outlaw bikers, it's Chan Wai Man. And this nasty, riveting little revenger about the wrongful takeover of a Triad nightclub by opposition and the battle over the turf was excellent. Pre-John Woo it's all about the characters and what they do in order to keep or regain that club. Some excellent performances here (not surprisingly CWM is a force of nature.) The use of 'choppers' (short swords? modified machetes, really couldn't tell), was pretty crazy and apparently real life. Unlike the OTT LOL WTH of Hong Kong Godfather (1985), The Club is intimate and vicious and exactly what you expect a Triad turf war to be. The Cantonese really works well here too (Sometimes, the laid back rhythm of that dialect can trip up a film, not so here.)

Mosasaurus- but this one seemed substantially larger than the size of any actual fossil (59').

Jurassic World - another movie I'll wait to see on DVD. :)

It's available now. :)

Thanks!

I refuse to learn "names" due to the entire Brontosaurus mixup. That has permanently scarred my inner child.

For anyone interested- The Controversy. But that seems to be rare. Summary, the name Brontosaurus was applied to a dino that had all ready been named the Apatosaurus. There is still resistance from those who grew up with Bronto. The dino game I'm playing calls it a Brontosaurus too! A chicken is a chicken no matter what you call it. Besides, Bronto sounds better than Apato. ;)

I love the comments on that link. Yeah, they just don't come when you call them. They also mention Pluto. Is it a planet? Is it a moon? If we take it off the "planets of the solar system", do we have to change the mnemonic? Argh! Of course, the answer is "sort of". https://www.mnemonic-device.com/astronomy/mnemonic-device-to-remember-the-planets-orbiting-the-sun/

I'm kinda ignorant on planet vs moon, but I see a double application for the word moon. I imagine a very large planet could have moons the size of Earth. So in that case, moon = orbiting a larger body. However, I can also understand the idea if something is not big enough, say an asteroid, there is a point where something based on size should not be called a planet. Interesting artilce: Is The Moon A Planet? Typically a planet orbits a sun. A moon orbits a planet, (no matter how big it is?).

Now watching this.

Not exactly family viewing!

The Last Witch Hunter (2015)

I had a bad feeling about it and I was right. One of the worst movies I have seen with my gf. She picks bad movies to watch but it wasn't as boring as Mockingjay Part 1 or a bigger ripoff than that Pacquiao v Mayweather fight. I am just not into vampire or witch hunting films. That twist with Elijah Wood in the end was awful. Another film to show that Elijah jizzed in his pants. Movie is a 6/10 at best and only on par with Blade Trinity which was horrendous with Ryan Reynolds and Jessica Biel.

Watched the Back To The Future Trilogy this morning. I only got 45 min into BTTF3 before I went to the mall to eat some J. Co donuts. I also looped that new Star Wars 7 trailer at least half a dozen times too. I am really starting to like the concept of a Darth Vader fanboy. Damage control for Vader's former image after Lucas emasculated him in the PT and end of ROTJ with Sebastian and Hayden.

I have a new set of movie downloads that will watch later -

Seen it already but worth having to complete a series or just rewatch -
Kung Fu Panda 2 (2011)
Rush Hour 2 (2001)
Jingle All The Way (1996), Jake Lloyd doesn't totally kill it for me here and he is generally awful. But we still have Arnold and Turbo Man!

Haven't seen -
Inside Out (2015) - Will see this one later.

I already have like 99% of my Top 200 favorite films, so alot of this is extra credit. But not something I really want or need but would watch to kill time or because I never seen it yet.

I finally watched the new Steve Jobs movie and I was decidely underwhelmed. It's stilted and overtly precious style sucks the life out of it's subject. It also didn't help that Michael Fassbender doesn't look a bit like Jobs, which mightn't be so bad if the script had given him more than a caricature to portray. This movie is just plain awful.

Inside/Out (2015)

Animated Herman's Head and never got into it. Overrated like WALL-E and Up. Isn't bad but too melodramatic for me. Toy Story series are still the best animated Pixar films for me and I don't love them that much. But I can understand their hype and rave reviews. This one not so much.

Kung Fu Panda (2008)

This I liked. Funny. Nice Asian relaxing atmosphere. Doesn't take itself so seriously most of the time. I saw the sequel first in the theater but like this one probably a little more since the scenes are brighter. I like them both like Despicable Me 1 & 2. When it came to animal wildlife, I was always into wild cats, African wildlife, koalas, dolphins, polar bears, but pandas can be so... Aww.

Last night, my family watched Ghostbusters. Some of the special effects are starting to look a little bit cheesy, but there are still so many great parts throughout the movie. Still love it. I couldn't hang with Ghostbusters 2.

Hex After Hex (1983) - takes a while for the amusing Hong Kong campy ghost stuff to kick in, but the spirit possession exorcism makes it worth getting through the sitcomy first half. Basically, foolish muscle bound stunt man Ma Su is having a crappy life: money, house and girl troubles. An old man makes him an offer: marry the old man's daughter and all your real life troubles will cease. Of course there's a catch, said daughter is dead. So Ma Su would have marry a ghost. Oh, Hell no. More like Hell yes as the girl of his dreams dies and becomes possessed by the ghost of the dead daughter. And we're off.

Actually, a very light-hearted spookfest. Not scary, sometimes quite silly but all around good especially once we get to that exorcism scene. As per usual, Star Wars is made fun of in a spectacularly cheesy way and there's all kinds of loving winks to 80s action and Shaw Brothers Studios itself. It's cute and nice to see Lo Meng in a comedic performance that worked.
