I'm fairly certain it's available on Netflix, which I think you have, right?

Affirm. I'll look up the plot, but no guarantees. :)

Woah, woah, woah - - hold your horses!

Yeah, Man From U.N.C.L.E. sucked and so has everything Guy Ritchie has done since 2000. But his first feature film, Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels is an outright black comedy masterpiece. It easily earns it's place on my lifetime top 100 list.

I don't own it, so it must not be worthy. :D:p

I found both LSTSB and Snatch to be quite good.

He destroyed Sherlockat least my preferred interpretation of this character. Speaking of Sherlock, see the Sherlock thread. :)

I have not. I'm hesitant to pay to see it, but if a free opportunity com s along. :)
I have liked Henry Cavill in his previous works Man of Steel, The Tudors, Count of Monte Christo, but I really disliked his droning-on Napoleon Solo. In addition, the humor was so labored and unfunny in U.N.C.L.E., I tend to blame the script and director.

I agree if a film tanks in my book it was those things and bad performances.

As per bobob:

I have seen Lock Stock... and Snatch and disliked both. Sherlock Holmes, well that was when I decided I'd politely walk away and let Guy Ritchie be.

I've been just fine ever since. :p

Spy (2015)- If you are a Melissa McCarthy fan who thinks she is the funniest fat comic since Jackie Gleeson (Who? You ask. Ok let's go with John Candy or Chris Farley. ;)), then maybe this movie is for you. I've disliked her since Brides Maids. I'll anticipate some disagreement, from the local MM Fan Club.. :)

I have nothing against Melissa McCarthy, but with the exception of Bridesmaids and St. Vincent, I have found her movies to be very weak. Spy was the most overrated piece of junk I've seen all year.

Just went to see the new movie called Spotlight. Holy cow, fantastic movie. I highly recommend it.
While I wouldn't say that Spotlight was a bad movie, it is definitely a relentlessly ordinary one. This subject could have been easily handled in a stock television docudrama on the Oprah Winfrey Network. Even Michael Keaton, who is normally a superb actor, seemed uncomfortable and awkward here.

She just does not tickle my funny bone. Chris Farley didn't either.

And this is not the kind of movie to walk into knowing nothing about it. I've not seen it to comment on it's excellence.

Watched Sicario last night and enjoyed it. Another well-crafted movie but it might be too intense for some. Even the music was fascinating.

My Sucky Teen Romance. Written, directed and acted by a bunch of teens, an indie, indie film. There were some funny parts, and some bits that didn't work. If you aren't looking for much, it almost delivers. Not bad for what it is.

Alan Partridge. I generally like Steve Coogan as an actor, even though you usually dislike the characters he plays. I haven't seen any of the other Alan Partridge movies or TV shows, which might have altered my impression of this movie. This one was pretty good all on it's own.

I still have not made time to watch that one, and so thanks for the reminder. The times of Mary and Elizabeth fascinate me for having so many examples of entire nations’ fates shifting and pivoting on the sheer will and behavior of individuals. An amazing period of nonstop multi-dimensional chess matches.

Someone previously mentioned The Life Aquatic With Steve Zissou (2004), which finally came up on my list. What a bizarre, yet funny and entertaining film.

We watched By The Sea, written & directed by Angelina Jolie. It's an interesting film and well-made, however it is a tad somber for my tastes. In addition, the whole motivation for her character doesn't have the impact the film relies on.

On a lighter note, we also watched Shaun the Sheep Movie. Yay. I'm a big fan of the Wallace & Gromit team and this movie fits in nicely with that series of short films. The animation is nice, the story is clever and it's all done without any real dialogue.

I'm a subscriber to Film Movement and I'm so far behind the current offerings that the flagged items in my mailbox make the thing look like a gathering of sailboats for a race. I am almost done with my pre-Christmas prep so in the little time before the holidays I hope to make some time for at least a few movies and three of the books I'm halfway done reading. Time to let the answering machine talk on my behalf when the phone rings...
