Going to watch Trainwreck (2015) tomorrow if I have time. I saw Ted 2 again and it is pretty much worse than the first Ted but better than A Million Ways To Die In The West. Keep the brain on lax and humor set to age 6 when it is Seth.

Just haven't watched much movies. Waiting for this...

^ This is when the fun begins...

Brave Archer 3 - the best in the series, even though Fu Sheng sleep walks through this, rendering his character one of three who almost kill this film with the snoozy, too long soap opera flashback (the Emperor, a concubine and an annoying third wheel male love interest. Ti Lung sort of saves this with his Emperor gone monk, but that's not saying much.)

The plucky young female lead Ring-Er is terrific - proving she is the single smartest person in this series (rare for Chang Cheh to give a woman such an important role. I enjoyed her breakdowns of the mystical applications of the Dao (Tao)), but I've wasted enough space here. This film is really about the Venoms and their equally talented replacements. Stick the Venoms mob in a wuxia, expect them go bonkers in their fighting and the last 10 minutes of this film makes up for any sleep-inducing soap opera moments.

The Venoms are ridiculous on point here (that multi-person fight is the most entertaining grand fight they ever styled.) Add Chu Ko and Ricky Chien Tien-Chi = mind blown. Top notch Peking Opera acrobatics mixed with Mantis and fan wielding Tae Kwon Do techniques (and weapons, so many awesome weapons...) I haven't seen this in months so it was an utter delight to bask in such a display of fantastic wushu and traditional kung fu fighting with no CGI. Seeing these guys actually flip, twirl and kick all kinds of butt, heads and such with and without crazy pole weapons made me squee with delight. Is it sad that I wanted an entire movie of evil Iron Palm (Lo Meng) and his crew against Sun Chien's adorable fan wielding scholar and his brothers with Ring-Er as referee? Well, I do... :p

The Night Before has a surprising amount of heart for a stoner comedy. In fact, it's really a ROM-COM starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt that gets overshadowed by Seth Rogen's resplendent performance as a soon-to-be father. This movie is surely not for anyone with tender sensitivities as it skewers every Christmas tradition with ridiculously offensive transgressive humor. But for those with a thick enough skin, it ends up being a hundred-proof affirmative experience.

B+

The Green Mile on AMC, some powerful moments in that movie.

That's one of those movies where if I only watch a couple minutes because I was channel surfing, I'll end up watching the rest, even though I've seen it a hundred times. Actually, pretty much every Tom Hanks movie does that to me. I actually have to force myself to change the channel quickly when I come across one clicking around so I don't get hooked, lol.

A Million Ways To Die In The West and Ted 2 play out like a Family Guy episode. It gets a little better after more viewings because the jokes come out fast every minute for you to notice them all, but it still deserves their low scores because how poorly written it the stories are and how mean-spirited the characters and jokes can be just like every Seth MacFarlane's animated shows are.

Many times this month, I usually use MXPlayer app on my Android phone with background play/screen off to listen to the dialogue before I go to sleep. It is quite hilarious if both movies were a radio show. The running gag on Amanda Seyfried's big eyes in both West and Ted 2 are hysterical. I never felt her eyes were huge until Charlize Theron's character in West insulted her. But who looks at Amanda's eyes with a rack like her's? At least Amanda has been a good sport about it.

"Do I have "**** me" eyes?"

"No, you have "give me the ring, my precious" eyes"

I watched Knights of Badassdom last night. I wasn't expecting quasi-horror, and I'm not a metal fan, but it was a fun little movie. Pretty much a decent cast, and you could tell they were having fun doing the movie. My wife did not enjoy it.

Sometimes she looks like she has bulbous eyes, and sometimes not, I'm not sure if there is an eye type that categorizes this characteristic or maybe she can just bug them out for effect. ;) Look in the mirror and open your eyes as wide as possible, then report back with the reslults. :)

Trainwreck (2015)

I thought I wouldn't tolerate Amy Schumer's face like Kristen Wiig. What I got was a funnier version of Bad Teacher AND Bridesmaids. Amy only has a 7.5 face for me. But her personality in the movie added points for her. She really is quite sexy. Sexier than Kristen Wiig. There is a sex appeal to her that goes beyond just face. Yeah, I would do her. She is comic gold in every scene.

Scenes with John Cena and LeBron James were hysterical. Both are more natural in acting than Michael Jordan was in Space Jam. The movie rarely dragged. Every 3-5 min, there is a hilarious exchange. I saw this movie after boozing. This is the level of humor I like. Laugh out loud one liners every 3-5 min. Very few jokes fell flat. Like a really good episode of 30 Rock but for 2 hours.

Highly recommended comedy. Probably the funniest female comedy for me since The Heat (2013). I am not familiar with Amy's work since they don't show it here. I love the random casting like Method Man. Yes again, I would DO Amy Schumer whether she was whoring herself like a trainwreck and Playgirl. I already get turned on seeing her in her bra. She has a great, curvy body.

Amy's writing is pure genius here. She took an average-looking couple and made them more appealing and lovable. She has a 7.5 face and made us feel she is an 8.5-9. Amy even showed her dramatic side. Her character deep down is very sweet. Funnier than The Hangover franchise with more heart. Good balance of humor and drama. A perfect movie to watch after some drinking.

Funniest Apatow movie since The 40-Year Old Virgin.

Just watched this one too. Not to bad! Had some funny scenes. Have you watched the short of when she going out on her first date and the little boy comes to her house to pick her up!? It is pretty funny.

No, gonna have to go back and check it out; I'm pretty sure we'll be watching it again...haha!!!

The Master Strikes Back (1984) Very uncomfortable viewing, like a great horror film which is what this really is beneath the wuxia trappings. Thankfully the body horror is all implied here (castration.) I sometimes need a few viewings to watch something to fully appreciate or loathe it. It seems to happen a lot with the Shaw Brothers stuff, some films I really enjoy on initial viewings I don't, while others I could barely watch I wind up enjoying. This was one of the latter because of the intense subject matter and how it was performed / shot. Sun Chung's wuxias work best when he has an established actor as the lead or villain, as is the case here for both roles.

Really brutal.

Again, not a Trekker and watched very little of any of the Star Trek TV shows that felt bland and cheesy. Star Wars is starting to feel outdated too but at least it has great action. I rewatched Star Trek 2009 reboot after 6.5 years and actually enjoyed it the second time through. I only decided to watch it to see what I might expect from JJ Abrams' Star Wars 7. I got a movie from a non-Trekker, SW fanboy who made it as delightful and fun as Star Wars. It is probably the same movie I would've made coming from the same perspective as JJ.

Into Darkness I was thinking worse than the 2009 and came away still pleased with the result. Plenty of action and tension. Only things I didn't like was how convoluted the story got and how it dragged a little towards the end like the '09 did. It was never clear to me Khan's clear intentions and if it was there, it just went over me. It is quite maligned from purists, but if this is the worst it can do, beam me up, Scotty! I've seen far worse franchises. I look at this like Iron Man 2. Worse than '09 but not by much. Great scenery and production values in this one.

I like the characters in this reboot/alternative reality more this time around with a mixture of Star Wars action and some sexiness. My favorite is obviously Dr. Leonard "Bones" McCoy. Like the original TV show, he comes up with some classic lines. I am definitely looking forward to ST Beyond next year. The key to the rebooted Star Trek is how delightful it is. Along with Star Wars, this is one franchise that will be around forever.

Worth it just to see Alice Eve like this...

J.J. Abrams Finally Admits Big Problem With Star Trek Into Darkness
_

One a side note - I really would love someone make an animated gif of Giovanni Ribisi in a Raphael Ninja Turtles costume dancing to Tiffany from Ted 2. Hysterical jist because of the face. That's my 2015 Dancing Baby or Yoda animated gif for me.

“Does garlic make semen taste any different?” - Whoa, that was Tilda Swinton in Trainwreck (2015)? Same one a young Obi-Wan Kenobi got to taste in Young Adam? Scha-weeet!

Fun scenes also came from Vanessa Bayer. Attractive, but according to Tilda's character, looks like a moron. Bayer's peeing scene with Amy, her stop smiling scene, and her telling Method Man she once dated a black guy and would do it again are all funny.

I watched Skyfall a little while ago, first time I watched a Daniel Craig Bond movie, yes I know I'm behind the times. I guess I grew tired of James bond for a while when Pierce Brosnan played him. I liked him initially but things seemed to go almost into the Roger Moore campy side of things.

I have to say with Daniel Craig, its a much edgier and darker representation, at least this movie was. I'll start renting his others as time and schedule permits.

The Avenging Eagle (1978) The film that cemented Sun Chung's reputation and one of the best martial arts movies period. Yes, I prefer Sun's The Deadly Breaking Sword and Judgement of An Assassin to this, but there's no denying this is one of the best revenge epics put to film.

Iron Boat Gang Eagle assassin Chik (Ti Lung) is healed by his gang's enemies during a botched job and ultimately is forced to kill those enemies with his Iron Boat brothers. While he was healing, Chik learned to move on from being a single minded assassin and is bearing heavy guilt for killing the people who helped him learn how to live. In the midst of this is a mysterious drifter (Fu Sheng, awesome here) who has ties to the enemies and the Iron Boat gang. Chik and Fu Sheng reluctantly work together to bring down the Iron Boat gang.

You really get hooked into Chik and Fu Sheng's characters, their dilemmas and the revelation of what they mean to each other is pretty spectacular. The fight scenes are solid and there's an insane final fight against the big boss, the Iron Boat gang godfather played by Ku Feng. My only quibble about this movie is that it would have been even better had Chan Wai Man played the Iron Boat godfather. Having a serious martial artist playing an older big bad (which Chan performed superbly in Judgement of an Assassin and Broken Oath) would have upped the stakes in that final fight big time.

Other than that, this has all the great hallmarks of a Sun Chung wuxia - complicated characters, detailed, engrossing storyline, awesome costumes and sets, a satisfying resolution, and some crazy good kung fu choreography. I really hope I get to write about Film and Culture for my Bachelor's thesis because Sun Chung will be the director I chose to cover.

IMO, the first and second Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace, linked stories were super, and the best of the DC Bond films. What followed was good, until SPECTRE crashed and burned. :(

I just watched Casino Royale and I was a little underwhelmed. I think the 2+ hours was too long for the story. It was bad, but it wasn't great. I have Quantum Solace queued up on my DVR and I'll catch that later.

I think there were too many rough patches in the movie, from the plot, the action and to a degree the acting. Perhaps if I saw this before Skyfall, I'd have a different opinion but it seems less exciting then Skyfall.
