I love it when I can find a good older movie that I've never seen.

That's why it pains me to say I was thoroughly underwhelmed when I watched "Breakfast at Tiffany's" on demand this afternoon. I found neither of the two main characters likable or particularly well written. This is supposed to be a classic movie?

I watched this for the first time the other day. I found it to be a good film; a light-hearted comedy and not meant to be a deep drama with a lot of character development. However, with that said, I do have to agree with one of your followup posts regarding George Peppard. His acting, even for a comedy such as this, was a little stiff and one-dimensional; it could have been better.

But, every film I've seen with Audrey Hepburn in it, I've thoroughly enjoyed the characters she played and her performance of them.

I had the pleasure of meeting her in Africa when she was a UNICEF representative. A wonderful lady.

Just came back from seeing Captain America Civil War. Great movie, one of the best ones done by Marvel so far (maybe on par with Cap 2). The new Spider-Man was a huge plus; can't wait to see him star in his own movie.

Note to self: stop watching any film with Jackie Chan, Michelle Yeoh etc. expecting characters. Because you just won't get that, instead just them being them and doing those crazy, awesome stunts and such. But I want more.

And dammit why didn't I get tix for Captain America tonight. Oh yeah, school.

I guess if you start tomorrow night, you'll have seen it before we even start :D (we're on US EST)

I _think_ my little girl wants to watch it too, she really liked the original Star Wars, then kind of didn't click with Empire (my favorite of the 3 movies, as I also don't recognize the 3 prequels), this seems more dynamic and appears to have more "girl power" :D

My little one (14) watched it with me on opening night at the cinema. She seemed to like it.

Wow, that was terrific, really fun, such a great callback to what made 1 and 2 (ugh, I mean, 4 and 5 ...) so good. The Jedi/combat were nicely grounded, no more silly flying/bouncing rubber Jedi from the prequels, great performances, some really emotional moments, beautiful effects (love all the shots of the ships in the atmosphere), a really solid follow up, excited about the setup for VIII and IX).

I certinly preferred it to 1-3. 4-6 will always be my favourites though. I grew up with them, and no new film will ever be able to compete with that.
But I think they got a lot of the new one right. Especially the more live action/models over CGI.
I'll be seeing the new one on opening day to no doubt!

Excellent movie. The way they introduced Spider-Man and Black Panther was extremely well done - never was there a "huh?" or "wtf?" regarding these two and why they're in the film. I even thought Zemo was well done after reading how disappointed some were with his character.

I hear they are making anew alien movie, but I'd like to see what happens after this movie.

I loved Prometheus myself. Stunning film - especially in 3D. Apparently wasn't s big hit with the fans though.

Me too! I think those who were dissapointed with Prometheus were expecting the haunted house (Alien) or the action film (Aliens) instead of an intriquing beautifully filmed prequel that adds an interesting twist to the story. Actually not that much happens in the story,
They travel to the planet from the glyphs, wake up the agent of our creation, realize there is a problem, and save the Earth.
That's it... :D

What I remember out of the first 5 Alien movies, 2 were stinkers, so we are slightly above 50%. ;) The new movie is Alien Covenant (2017). If your a stickler against spoilers:
Bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, the crew of the colony ship Covenant discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world -- whose sole inhabitant is the "synthetic" David (Michael Fassbender), survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition.

What We Can Expect To See In Alien: Covenant, According To Ridley Scott

For a film franchise, they have certinly managed to reinvent themselves a few times. Keeps it interesting IMO.

The Alien Covenant spoiler was about a future movie, and Prometheus was a courtesy for anyone who has not yet seen it, my judgement. The Ripley Clone, that's real old news. :p
Older than you think to. Doesn't seem that long ago when Alien 3 was released to my mind. Yet it was 24 years ago before most of the MR membership was born!
I feel old.

Yeah, Prometheus was not for me. I laughed my head off during most of it (especially the gags of the geophysicist tripping face first into the goo and the final fight was pretty hilarious too.) My big issue,
I am not a fan of all this ancient aliens as our creators business. So while it was interesting that Engineers used us to create the xenomorphs etc. I just cannot stand that track. It's bad enough Marvel is now sweeping the magic under the rug for science and aliens in their comics too, Doctor Strange and Moon Knight being the latest victim, but that's a whole different conversation.

That said, Fassbender was terrific and if Covenant is based on his android doing bad things, well I'd give that film a look when it is available to rent.

Regarding you spoiler, hey it's scifi! And can you explain how engineers used us to create zenomorphs? I did not observe that in the story. I observed that engineers seeded the Earth with life for whatever the reason, and then decided to, well you know... ;)

LOL. Aw Huntn, I know, but sometimes even I question sci-fi logic or illogic. I thought the mutative black goo was key to creating Xenomorphs
when that geophysicist tripped up, got a face full and started changing.
Studying Giger's original design for the xenomorph you clearly see a human skull,
so after falling face first into that muck, this unlucky fellah appeared to become a prototype for the Xenomorph. Had they pushed that further I am sure his head would have become more legume shaped.

Ah, wonderful. Thank you for taking the time to explain this.

For, as I have never had cause to think to do that - not knowing how to do it - that particular drop down dialogue box was entirely unknown to me and I had never suspected its existence.
