If it says Star Wars, I appreciate it!
Even caravan of courage!

(If you don't know what that is you're not a SW fan ;))

Same. If only they'd have handled the final battle (not the Vader one) better..looks generic and has a weird pace, feels more like a trailer for the upcoming SW shooter/game than anything.
And Cgi Leia/Tarkin: definitely not a fan how it was done.

While acknowledging that
everyone dying
added poignance to the story, I could have accepted and looked forward to other Rogue Squadron related stories.

Churchill was fantastic. Oldman is one of my favorite actors. If you want some silliness, I think Christian Slater did a Churchill parody about fourteen or fifteen years ago that wasn't bad.

First time I'd seen it all the way through. I really liked it.

I think Gary Oldman is my favorite actor. From Leon the professional to Dracula to Immortal Beloved... all fantastic performances.

Atomic Blond (2017)- It seemed this movie had great potential as an espionage story, but was such a disappointment. Yes, there are some kick ass fight scenes, some to the point of serious unrealism, about how much damage a human body can take and the person keeps fighting. There was too much mood music, the settings were bleak and the movie's story did not gel very well. I give it a blah +. ;)

It’s surprising in retrospect how much this trailer shows.

Adrenaline...

About to sit down to Hamlet (1996) and a bowl full of freshly roasted nuts, hogged mostly by moi, and hopefully enjoy the film. Someone posted a clip of it in another thread today and it looked fun. What could possibly go wrong apart from not liking it?

I was lucky enough to find it was rentable on nearly every platform.

I hate to be repetitive but DDL can do no wrong :D

Even where he disappears into makeup/prosthetics like Mason Verger in Hannibal he's amazing. I mean, just everything, Sid and Nancy, JFK, Potter movies, Dark Knight, Tinker Tailor ... and I love his short role in True Romance as Drexl Spivey :D

"He must have thought it was white boy day. It ain't white boy day, is it?"

Holy smokes, *loved* this. I'm going to do a re-watch with JW1 and 2 :D

I read quite a few reviews and there was a general consensus that it’s a beautiful mess. Fantastic art and design, amazing visualizations, but a muddled, confusing mess of writing and plot.

So the question remains, is it (Valerian) worth watching? I'm guessing this will be a personal preference. The visuals are impressive.

@Apple fanboy The dialog/script/banter is awesome compared to any of prequels or the recent sequels. Some of the dialog/delivery in the prequels was literally LOL horrible (for me).

Which version of Hamlet?
I suspect it would be the Kenneth Branagh Hamlet.
Strangely it was unavailable to rent or buy on VHS, Laser Disc (Remember them?!) Video Disc, DVD or rent as download till quite recently.

It made use of Blenheim Palace as Elsinore I recall.

At more than 4 hours long it is quite a marathon. Not for weak bladders…

[doublepost=1512340138][/doublepost]This is still an excellent movie for a Sunday night (or any night for that matter) in…
Those shots of abandoned London streets are still a tour de force I wonder if they could pull it off today with no CGI.

What exactly do you think the number "1996" in parenthesis meant? :p Around the time of production, Brian Blessed and Richard Griffiths looked vaguely similar. Especially to the untrained eye. Which isn't all too surprising because in past interviews, both stated they're often confused for the other.

I though was how many times you had seen it. Ya know, cos I'm a dense s.o.b. ;) :p

Totally missed that by that by. :)

We went to the theatre and saw Justice League, yesterday. Good flick for any DC comics fan. Didn't care much for the CGI on the main villain (it was unnecessary if you're a fan of the comics and know Steppenwolf). Overall, it was a good flick and the so-called critics are full of crap in their reviews.

Holds up fantastically well. You know, for those opening shots, they just blocked off the street, shot early in the morning (had some attractive "crown management" staff). The music during that scene - how it builds - it just amazing, yet another fantastic score from John Murphy (who also supplied the stellar Adagio in D Minor from another Danny Boyle movie, Sunshine).

Definitely a fan of John Murphy's scores.
In 28 Weeks Later there is "Don Abandons Alice" which takes "In the House - In a Heartbeat" into almost operatic expansiveness. :)
I managed to track down a "bootleg" of Sunshine OST. "Surface of the Sun" is a great track.
He does like his rising, climbing tension building phrases. And so do I.

Indeed there is.
There are still rumours of a 28 Months Later.
Fingers crossed.
