still watching it... jury still out... just a meh from me. kinda hammy. how many marvel characters can chris evans play?
This was a Marvels movie? I had no idea. We saw it in theaters when it first came out. It definitely isn't a memorable film because a few similar films came out during that period and it all blended together in my memory. I caught a third of it back in November on TV but couldn't remember much of it. Not memorable at all. McGruber came out around the same time and that was an awful movie.

hot Fuzz lol. love it.

Yes it was a Marvel film. Ends with them acting like there is going to be a sequel too. meh!!

Ghosts Of Mars - fun flic, liked it. Didn't take itself too serious nor pretended to be something that it wasn't. Cool soundtrack as per usual - Rip Carpenter!

Next in line..In The Mouth Of Madness
Never seen or heard about it before..curious!

Just saw:

Spotlight
Birdman (or the Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance)

Two best picture winners in a row, both starring Michael Keaton. Good for him! Both movies were excellent in completely different ways. Spotlight was quite dark, and for a movie that consisted mostly of people talking in offices, I'm surprised at how glued to the screen I was. Birdman was just fun, from start to finish (especially relevant considering the movie was filmed to make it appear as if it was one long continuous shot).

Wait he passed away?!?!?!?!?!?!?!!

"In The Mouth of Madness" is a decent film, but I am also partial to Sam Neill. I dig his acting and this movie is right up there. It has been a while since I have seen it though.

Wahhh..:confused::eek:o_O:rolleyes:

Nope. No idea how I got that idea tbh, there was a piece about him and each of his films a couple of days ago in the papers and somehow I thought it was somewhat of 'in memorando' because of the tone.*

Maybe he got back from the dead - wouldn't put it past him!

Foolish me! Better that way though, lol!

Mouth of.. didn't even know about it till now- read that it's a bit lovecraftian so got quite excited.

*apparently because he just turned 70 (RIP :p)

Jumangi: Welcome to the Jungle (2017)- It was ok, but I won't buy it. I liked the original better. Filmed in Hawaii, Kauai, Hilo?

Spoilers?
Minor point, it's interesting that a kid finds the game buried in the sand on the beach (1996), takes it home, wonders who plays board games, later when awakened by those loud drums, he opens it up and it has a video game cartridge, that he checks out and get sucked into the game.

So he's gone, his family deteorates, the video game somehow ends up at the local high school, 20 years later, the drums sound again, and kids on detention cleaning up the store room, discover it and end up in the game as the avatars they chose. :D:D

Another point, in the original movie, ending up in the jungle only happened as a result of a bad roll. In this one, everyone goes to the jungle to play the game.

Quite bleak, but a good movie.

It's bleak for the average person, but believe it or not, there are people out there who actually have to live like that day-to-day to survive. Think of the countless homeless in New York for example.

Aside from physical survival, the story is also a good metaphor for people who go through life feeling alone and deprived. So, one can be quite comfortable materially, but feel just as unhappy as the characters in the movie.
