The A Team (2010)- Tongue’n cheek, over the top adventure. I like it! The C-130/Tank/Drones sequence was the best! ;)

It was an okay movie but a terrible attempt at a remake. It would have been better if they just made it without the poor attempt at marketing it to older fans of The A Team. It worked I guess because I bought a ticket.

The movie I just watched was Police Academy. An awesome movie.

The Matrix (1999)- One of my top ten SciFi movies. It’s about virtual reality, the Matrix is all around you. :)

You're here because you know something. What you know you can't explain, but you feel it. You've felt it your entire life, that there's something wrong with the world. You don't know what it is, but it's there, like a splinter in your mind, driving you mad.

If you don’t watch the original series you will miss most of the context. However, you don’t need to watch all of it.
Watch S1 (8 episodes), then S2 at least up to E14. The rest of the series is underwhelming due to the pressure put on Lynch by CBS, however it contains some good Twin Peaksian lore (and also some truly awful episodes and characters). Final episode is a must watch.
Then watch Fire Walk With Me (very important to get The Return).
As for The Return, try to watch as many episodes as possible in one sitting as it’s a long movie and not really a TV series.
Let me know if I can help.

Bladerunner 2049- (2017) From someone vested in the original story, such a good movie. The story is simple, but subtlety epic and a slow burn throughout, except for bursts of violence, until the end, which is both happy and sad.

We were discussing this series in the office today. Good film.

Regarding Bladerunner 2049, if there is a critique, some will say the story is too slow. I’ll say that is an expectations issue and I’ll admit, this movie is not what I thought it would be going in.

The entire story centers around:
the authority’s hunt for the child of a older model Replicant, because if it become known that Replicants can have children, even it was an old model , It will break the world according to police Lt Joshi, ie Replicants may no longer agree to be slaves.

Maybe I should give that one a shot. The book (Barton Gellman's Angler: The Cheney Vice Presidency) was certainly an eye opener even if one follows politics quite closely. Probably because the guy plays close to the vest and under the radar, operating not to aggrandize his own office but as a pretty effective way of trying to preserve and extend overall power of the executive branch in American federal government. It's too late for the movie to spoil the book for me, so now I'll find out if the book spoils the movie. :D

^I enjoyed The Big Short, but I heard less-than-favorable things about Vice, that Cheney is too exaggerated for it to be as "infotaining" as The Big Short was.

As for me, I've been getting into Fosse lately and just saw Cabaret. Long familiar with the musical, I had not yet seen the movie. Despite the absence of some of my favorite songs from the musical, I enjoyed it very much.

On Vice: I have been afraid that would be the case. I don't know how one would make a movie of some of the stunning facts in the book, they are at such abstruse levels of detail sometimes, which was actually what made them stunning, but not exactly moviegoing fare, I would think. Still I'm going to watch it when I can make time.

I loved the Big Short... saw that after hearing the audiobook and then couldn't wait to see the movie, only hoping that it "would not disappoint". I set too low a bar!

Cabaret... a wonderful film. I saw the original B'way production a couple times maybe 14-18 months apart, but for some reason never saw that early 70s film until well after the late 80s revival of the musical had opened. Maybe just as well, I took an open mind to the film and didn't have a very sharp sense of the missing material, just got immersed in it as I had done with the musical so much earlier. I like to watch that movie again once in awhile. The gradual transformation of mood and tone is a chilling undertow vs all the supposed gaiety. The actors were really great in communicating that shift. Film deserved all the Oscars it got...

now i’m watching Babel, a 2006 movie that has a strong social critique and fits perfectly into our current society.

Mary Lambert: Pet Sematary (1989)

When I was younger I always used to like reading Stephen King's books. I still do, but I used to, too*. When I was way too young I read Pet Sematary and distinctly remember not really sleeping for a week after that. The same exact scenario repeated itself after I first saw the film based on the book. It's been nearly ten years since I last saw the film, and as the 4K UHD just happened to drop into my mailbox yesterday time was ripe for a rewatch.

It was still good. Now, in no way whatsoever is the film a masterclass in acting, but I still like it. Also, there were many more comedic things in the film than I could remember off the top of my head, but those didn't really bother me at all. The creepy factor is still very much alive with a certain sister who shares a name with a video game series, and I will never not flinch when seeing Church with those glowing eyes for the first time. I also very much like the Ramones, so them being included in the film is also a plus.

In conclusion, not nearly as effective as the book, but the film still holds a special place in my heart for reasons nostalgic, and otherwise.

*Couldn't resist, RIP Mitch Hedberg.

Hey maybe you can give us some insight of why Disney screwed the Star Wars pooch. :D

Regarding Babel, I did not connect with the story for some reason.

Trilogy of Terror (1975)
Very campy. Reminded me of Twilight Zone episodes with a horror/thriller angle.
