Anyone seen THE DEAD DON'T DIE!

Not yet. An eventual rental.

Lots of Shaw Brothers revisits including Shaolin Temple today.

They sadly do not make them like this anymore.

And Captain America The First Avenger. Again.

Kyle Newacheck: Murder Mystery (2019)

Surprisingly entertaining. I'm not really a big fan of Adam Sandler, but he has his moments, rare as they might be.

Ari Aster: Hereditary (2018)

Third time, still great stuff. Can't wait for Midsommar!

Richard Donner: Lethal Weapon (1987)

It's been a while since I last saw this one, and had already forgotten a bunch of stuff. Great film that was fun to revisit after such a long time. Funny thing, earlier today I was watching some Family Guy reruns, and one episode had a cutaway that featured Endo using his electro-sponge-torture-thingamabob on someone, and a few hours later Netflix sent me an email recommending Lethal Weapon.

Richard Donner: Lethal Weapon 2 (1989)

Not as good as the first one, but still entertaining. Gibson and Glover are still bringing their A-game, and the introduction of Pesci as the motormouthed Leo Getz is a nice touch. The bad guys are sufficiently vile, so it's great to see them get their comeuppance. DIPLOMATIC IMMUNITY!

We watched this yesterday. i don't care for some of the meanness of Sandler's characters, but he does have funny moments.

Yeah, there are a couple of films of his that are pretty good, but his usual schtick of shouting and just in general how he portrays the characters he plays does next to nothing for me. In Murder Mystery he was surprisingly tolerable.

Same here! I’m really hoping Hereditary wasn’t just a one off.

Fun fact... Toni Collette also played the mother in the Sixth Sense(1999)!!

Yeah, I'm really hoping that as well! All things considered it would be strange if his first effort writing and directing a feature film would be that good due to luck, the stars aligning or whatever else of the kind. But we'll see soon enough.

Re: Sixth Sense, I didn't even remember that. Guess I need to check it out again sometime soon. Something else I need to check out is the Unbreakable trilogy, I've only seen Unbreakable and remember it being pretty good.

Toy Story 4 (2019). What a great movie! The plot is not that innovative, but this is a character-based movie. All characters are amazing, the dynamics between the toys and even the humans are funny and poignant. Ultimately, this movie delivers way more than I expected.

Watched Anna this weekend. It's a typical "girl turned spy" type of story, reminiscent of Red Sparrow and Atomic Blonde. I went into it with zero expectations and was pleasantly entertained. There were several twists and a few good fight scenes.

Also saw Hotel Mumbai recently. Based on the 2008 terrorist attacks at The Taj Hotel in Mumbai. Really well-made retelling of the tragic events, and kept the suspense up from beginning to end.

Just watched "How To Train Your Dragon:The Hidden World". Great culmination of the trilogy and a good movie for all.

I was going to ask, Hanna?, but then realized this is a new movie, currently in theaters. We so rarely watch shows with commercials these days. I see Luc Besson directed, and I liked his Lucy so it is on my list to see when it streams. The choreographed fights in Atomic Blond were impressive, but the movie did not fulfill my expectations. I’ve not seen Red Sparrow yet.

Oh, I loved Atomic Blonde. It ticked everyone of my boxes and the music choice was superb. Except the freaking airport song. I purchased Red Sparrow, but haven't watched it either.

Hanna the film from 2011 or 2012 was brilliant. I think Eric Bana was in it. I have not seen the Amazon show version.

Staying in this theme, I was pleasantly surprised with Peppermint, starring Jennifer Garner. Not really girl turned spy, more like woman turned vigilante, but it had good action scenes along the lines of Taken. Worth a look if you're into that sort of thing.

Edge of Tomorrow. That crazy Tom Cruise alien action war movie.

I originally saw the trailer for the movie before it came out and read the graphic novel (All You Need Is Kill) before the movie's release. I was hugely surprised how much I loved the movie with all of its changes.

The movie went on sale in 4K for $5 a while ago and I watch it every few months. The movie starts off so fast and dumps a load of backstory on you. It's a bit off-putting but then it settles into a funny and thrilling movie with some great visuals.

This is another Tom Cruise/Christopher McQuarrie film, they did the latest Mission Impossible and will be doing the next two together. Jaw dropping action.

Has anyone here used "Criterion" streaming service ?
Good Reviews on the service, lots of classic and hard to find films, they say.

We will sign up as soon as we finish Twin Peaks. (now at S3e10.) a2

The Terminator(1984)
They just don't make 'em like they used to.

300px-Terminator_Poster.jpg
I didn't know they had a trailer for T6 and just checked it out.

Feelsbadman lol. I dig MacKenzie as a terminator though. They should have killed this franchise years ago or waited decades like Blade Runner.

I haven't seen anything past Terminator2, and don't plan to. :)
  • Terminator 2 was the best.
  • Terminator 1 was a close second.
  • Terminator Rise of the Machines (3) young adult John Conner was tolerable, more of the same but Arnold is past his prime.
  • Terminator Salvation (4) the story of adult future John Conner is ok, but not really memorable.
