Bladerunner & BR 2049 Spoilers

I have the "3) The final cut, a.k.a. the true director’s cut" version.
Just finished it, still like it. :)
So:
  • Is Deckard a replicant? No, as I recall an interview with the Director.
  • Did Rachel live more than 4 years? She was an experimental model, although Tyrell just before he dies tells Roy Batty: we made you as best we could. If she had become pregnant near the end of this movie in Los Angeles 2019, by 2049, the daughter would have been just under 30.
  • A powerful monologue: I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhäuser Gate. All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain. Time to die. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tears_in_rain_monologue

I just read through the Wikipedia page and discovered the book "Tears in Rain (Bruna Husky)" and ordered it. It looks like it will be a good read.

Can't watch it quite yet but I pre-ordered the download of Raise Hell: The Life & Times of Molly Ivins because I just loved reading (syndicated) Texas political journalist Molly Ivins. She took on corruption no matter which side of the aisle it popped up on. Amazingly enough because she was so humorous, even the targets of her ire found themselves in stitches sometimes at how she went about describing them or their behavior. Some of her partisan readers on the other hand were far less amused and so she was often the recipient of abusive commentary or even death threats.

From a piece about the docu in the LA Times:

“Holding people to contempt and ridicule is what I do,” she proclaims, and she took pride in the fact that when the Dallas Times Herald, where she worked for 10 years, took a poll on its best-loved and most-hated columnists, she won both titles.

Viewers of the docu got a head start in Texas but the film goes nationwide this month. I figured it was time to get my pre order in so I'll not forget about it. I'm so looking forward to it even though my purchase probably won't close until December. Ivins was an unabashed liberal and a portion of the proceeds of the docu will benefit the ACLU.

It - Chapter 2 (2019). Entertaining enough, but at the 25th scare jump of the same type it becomes a bit repetitive, especially for a 3 hour long movie.

The Head Hunter (2019)
A passion project through-n-through. Visually stunning; great sets, props, cinematography. It’s almost a silent movie that relies primarily on visual storytelling, while leaving a lot to the imagination. If you’re a fan of the fantasy-horror genre, you’ll definitely like this one.

PS> thanks to who recommended this movie earlier in the thread.

Or maybe not

Deckard was very much a replicant as was illustrated in the original BR when Gaff leaves the origami unicorn and BR 4049 when Wallace explains the set up between Deckard and Rachel. On the flip side I believe that Harrison Ford has always stated the opposite :)

Like many I think the question is the more interesting facet and the ambiguity of it all, however I believe the signs are there although subtle.

I was going to go but thought I’d better watch some paint dry instead!
;)
Ok, that made me laugh. :D
Just got back... For anyone not familiar, the movie is a continuation of the show. All the actors were there from the show. If you are not a fan of the show, there is no point in seeing it, but it was outstanding in DA terms. It was SO EXCITING! The King and Queen are coming to visit! How the house staff undermines the royal servants, brilliant! 😂

Seriously, you know you have good writing when you can watch a story and almost believe you are a watching someone’s privileged lives.

Both me and the wife liked it, but honestly I am disappointed they have abandoned serial TV for movies. Instead of getting a solid 10 hr of story a season, we are now stuck with 2.5 hrs every couple of years, and the actors will be getting old in the meantime.

This probably has to be one of my ‘all-time’ favorite movies, I don’t have the opportunity to watch that many movies, but this one every time I watch it, I learn/see something new from the film. It’s basically about a story of a successful attorney (Michael Fassbender) who gets involved in a drug scheme to make a large amount of money, when things turn sideways when the drug shipment is hijacked.

It’s basically a movie about risk v.s. reward and those who you trust around you, and the consequences for our actions. The movie itself was not very well recepted, and to my surprise, many actually have not heard of it, considering it has an all-star cast with Javier Bardem, Cameron Diaz, and of course Brad Pitt, alongside Michael Fassbender.

It’s also one of those movies where the Plot is not clearly explained, but you almost have to watch it again to pick details you likely missed.

[Also, killer musical score by Daniel Pemberton.]

This and The Accountant have flown under my radar.
I will have to check them both out.
