Wild Things (1998)- Florida/Everglades crime drama/thriller which starts with a high school teacher (Matt Dillon) accused of raping a student (Denise Richards). It unwinds from there. I give it high marks because of major plot twists when you finally realize you have been manipulated by the story tellers, multiple times. Kevin Bacon and an enjoyable appearance by Bill Murray as the sleazy lawyer. Keep watching past the start of the end credits. :)

[OK, major disclaimer: Anything with Ray Liotta, I will watch it.] But this particular ‘cop movie’ is about investigating the death of an Officer and how the events transpired. I liked it overall, it’s fairly slow through about 2/3 of it, but towards the climax point, it has a really interesting ending. This is a really dark movie, and I think Ray Liotta did a great job of portraying someone who is very aggressive/angry and a side to him that you probably haven’t seen most of his movies. This is a really ‘dark-themed’ movie, also, it really does give you a good perspective of how dangerous Detroit really in various neighborhoods that a L.E. Officer would have to Venture in. It was a ‘good movie’, but not great.

That foot chase scene in the beginning is really great, brutal and and just dripping with adrenaline. Really sets the mood for what's coming. I like this one quite a bit, need to rewatch.

Yeah, and the way the director portrayed that scene using such a ‘shaky’ camera through some of the filming, tries to give the audience more of a real life perspective When following the police officer around. It wasn’t such a cinematic view, but more like you’re running with the person right by their side. [And then when he (Jason Patrick) has to make that instant decision to shoot that criminal before he harmed that child was freakin scary.

Side note:

I mentioned this was a really ‘dark themed movie’ [On many different levels], but if you look at most of the filming, it’s all cloudy days or shot at night. Very rarely do you see a sunny day in this movie, I believe that was by design, as the director wanted to keep this movie as dark as possible given the circumstances behind the actors personalities and investigating a fallen Officer.

John Wick 3.

Just finished this myself. Looked really, really good in 4K Dolby Vision, and all of the dogs were beyond amazing. Good film, lots of nicely choreographed fight scenes, although I did think it was a bit too long at 130 minutes. Then again, I was really tired when I was watching it (and had a couple of glasses of wine), so a rewatch might be in order. All in all a good third installment of a good series of films.

I agree it looked amazing in 4K. I thought the first hour was great but got a bit tired of all the fighting. Must be getting old!!

My copy of JW3 supports up to 4K, but I don't have the appropriate gear yet (I'll rewatch for Christmas, when I'm doing an upgrade :D)

It's a terrific movie, I love the JW series, 3 is over-the-top-crazy-insane in the best possible way

Lets not kid ourselves... there is really only one reason to watch this movie... well two... ;););)

Watched an oldie but well... it is an ok movie.

Who Framed Roger Rabbit...

Also watched Captain Marvel. Was surprised it wasn't "as" bad as I thought it would be, given all the negative reviews about it.

The sex scene where they just take off their shirts in a threesome? ;) This in itself would not be enough to earn my recommendation. :)

Ok, let me preface by stating Nicolas Cage is not a very good actor in my opinion, but he does have a few good movies that have stood out to me. (The Other being ‘Matchstick Men’). This particular ‘indie’ movie was in my opinion, his best performance on the big screen.

Essentially it’s about A man (Cage) who was an ex-convict at some point in his life, trying to live a good life by maintaining a job, but he befriends young man (Tye Sheridan) who is involved/related to an abusive father who is an alcoholic, Which essentially Joe become intertwined as a witness is what the young man is enduring, as he sees a reflection of himself which correlates to Joe taking action.

There’s some decent twist/turns in the movie plot, which I won’t discuss, but this movie actually altered my perspective on Nicolas Cages acting career.

Also, I think I find that I find myself more encapsulated in a movie, if it has a powerful musical score behind it, and this movie really delivers in that respect during some critical scenes. {The Composer was David Wingo}.

Bonus: If you’re an Amazon Prime member like myself, you can watch this movie for free.😁

Spider-Man (2002)- Just hearing the intro music gives me a thrill of anticipation, embodying a great story, with a brilliant tortured antagonist, with great power comes great responsibility, a story of thrills, love, and loss because a little but exotic spider bites a high school student. Tobey Mcguire is Spider-Man and William Dafoe is a great Green Goblin. Also love J.K.Simmons as the newspaper man.

Nice. Binging on this ‘trio’ Right now. Decided to watch the first John Wick the other night, awesome movie (Aside from some of the shoddy Russian acting. ) I watched John Wick 2 in the past, I don’t remember being impressed by that one, but I’m gonna give it another shot to be fair. I have not seen the third John Wick yet, heard good things.

I guess what really surprises me about these movies, is the extensive tactical training that Keaunu Reeves went through. I mean, his reaction time for some of his reloads/drawing is insane. Granted, I realize it’s a ‘Hollywood’ movie that doesn’t incorporate real life encountering experiences, but I can tell you from first-hand experience with tactical training with firearms and as a Taser instructor, that’s really impressive how quick his reaction time is. There’s actually some YouTube video showing behind the scenes footage of him training, and he’s no freakin joke or Camera tricks added, Reeves was straight up one bad mutha. 😁

I saw Judy today, with Renée Zellweger as Judy Garland in her later years. It opened here yesterday.

It's the first movie I've seen this year that I'm sure will be an Oscar nominee.

Rewatch of Phantom Thread.

best line--

“I... It’s no business of ours what Mrs. Rose decides to do with her life, but she can no longer behave like this in a dress from the House of Woodcock.”

-- uttered in genteel outrage by the character Alma (Vicky Krieps), arms full of emerald green brocade, after she has helped remove a high couture gown from the body of the scandalously passed out Barbara Rose (Harriet Sansom Harris) in order to return it to the designer, Reynolds Woodcock (Daniel Day-Lewis), who demanded that it be retrieved after seeing the unconscious Mrs. Rose carried away from the dais at her own (not her first) wedding reception.

I really do like this movie enough to watch it yet again once in awhile. There's a conversation about its minor flaws back there in this thread somewhere in the spring of 2018, but none of the faulty bits are enough to keep me from another viewing on occasion. Beautiful cinematography.
