GI Joe - the rise of cobra.

I really like this movie.

I never get the hype of watching horror movies during Halloween period.

Dude, that’s what it’s all about. Michael Myers and Jason Voorhees are classics this time of year. Anyways, if you’re not really into the Halloween theatrics, then you wouldn’t be interested in Halloween movies this time of year, am I right? 😁 There are also certain channels that are playing 24 hour of nothing but Halloween movies {I.e AMC, IFC, Scyfy}, it’s a short-lived period of enjoying classic Horrors or modern remakes, but it’s a fun time of year.

[Actually, I watched just watched (Again) Rob Zombie’s remake of the original Halloween movies, and he freakin did an awesome job with those.]

Yeah I know it’s all about that but it just feels so weird holding on to some 2000 years old Celtic tradition and watching movies to celebrate it. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Yeah I’m not really into the whole horror genre. I feel like I’m watching some twisted comedy.
The writing in most I’ve seen is pretty similar. Not many original ideas.
Mind you, you could say that about a lot of movies.

I just skip any holidays I’m not into.
In other words all of them!

John Carpenter: They Live (1988)

A drifter, fresh out of bubble gum, gets a hold of some special sunglasses that reveal some less than ideal things about the world around him. Can one man make a change in a situation that seems to be pretty much FUBAR?

I really like these Studio Canal 4K restorations of Carpenter's films. "Old" as they may be, they look brilliant and as a whole are nice additions to any collection. Having said that, this was the first time I watched the film all the way. I know, a late bloomer in that sense. I've read about it many times, but somehow never got around to finishing it until now. Now that I have, I have to say I liked it quite a bit! ("Rowdy") Roddy Piper delivers a pretty good (goofy in a good way) performance, and the story is good too. Parallels can be (and have been by many a people with different agendas) drawn to the times we live in, but even without thinking about those parallels too much the film works. A fun 100 minutes.

OBEY!

Makes sense, I get it, not everyone is supportive of Halloween movies, ect . But I don’t generally ‘celebrate’ Halloween, I just enjoy this specific time of year, which is fairly short-lived compared to like the holidays for example.

It’s interesting they chose to show the stars kissing in a mostly unclothed state to make the story more attractive? ;) The movie is good, but I prefer the book.
I didn’t know there was a book. Now I have to go look it up.

The Mummy (1999)- Pretty good Halloweenish story, good ole family friendly santitized PG violence. It’s a medaphis! (sp?) 🎃 :)

The novel (1980ish) was one of my favorite reads along with Shimbumi, both stories are of a similiar nature but the latter is more exotic . :)

I'm thinking that instead of watching my Atlanta Falcons lose tomorrow, I might just talk myself in to seeing Zombieland 2. I'm kind of bummed that I missed seeing it in Dolby Cinema.

Madhouse (1974) Giallo-like American International romp with Mssrs. Price and Cushing as actors/writer and their popular character Dr. Death who becomes a real boogieman killing people in and around Price’s circle.

This was good fun and not scary, but another solid cinematic take on the fine line between creativity and madness. The ending is a bit dodgy, but definitely worth seeing if you enjoy Vincent Price and Peter Cushing.

Glad I revisited.

Favorite scene early on hints at two characters actual leanings (and winks at their horror movie history playing vampires or vampire hunters).

The first Zombieland was really good, Funny mixed with elements of fright in all the right areas, decent cast (Really liked Bill Murray’s scenes) with a good contrast of personalities, and just overall good film.

I have not watch the second one yet, the reviews are definitely mixed, teetering on the ‘wait for the DVD release’. It was originally to be used as a ‘TV series‘, but was booted to be returned back to the movie from Sony. I think the thing that really was ‘crucial’ to the second movie, was bringing back the original cast, if that couldn’t happen or where one cast member was missing/was replaced, it probably would have affected the film negatively if the chemistry wasn’t right amongst the cast, as it was executed perfectly in the first film.

Watched the 2019 "Shaft" movie. I really liked this sequel to the 2000 Samuel L. Jackson movie. Funny, action packed and not for the overly sensitive Millennial. Definitely worth a watch, although I suggest you watch the 2000 version first.
