Outstanding movie, a piece of cinematic art, although I preferred some aspects of the book that were changed. Halorran did not die, and there was the aspect of the furnace blowing up, which was corrected in the remake, a mini-series n TV approved of by King. Yet, it’s hard to be competitive with Jack Nicolson. :D
One of the few horror films I liked and was genuinely creeped out by.

I’d give it 3/10. Spent a lot of time on my iPhone!
VATCOATP- Interesting visuals, had potential but squandered. Admittedly it’s fading in my memory but as I recall a weak, poorly executed story. And of note, I’m a fan of Lucy, another Luc Besson movie, so he has the ability even if that movie was a bit of a let down at the end.

Goldfinger (1964)- Miami, Switzerland, Kentucky, Fort Knox, although they used a mockup of the the Ft Knox building near Pinewood Studios, England. After that outstanding fight on the train in FRWL, the fighting in this movie was a bit shabby. They needed a better stunt coordinator. But I like the gadgets, the spiffed up Aston Martin, lasers, Goldfinger, Oddjob, and ***** Galore. The ending was a bit weak, a blown out window does not cause a jet to go into an uncontrollable dive, they made it way to easy to get out of that plane, and apparently all it took was to jump in the sack wth James to sway Ms Galore to betray her boss. He, not Goldfinger has the midas touch.

Funny how Ms P Galore has her first name censored out here yet this film was a PG rating.

Oh well. Starting to look more and more like a rental then. Bummer, the horrible Halloween films notwithstanding Zombie has shown some good potential as a filmmaker. Never really been a fan of Sheri Moon Zombie, but Dee Wallace always piques my interest. The fact that Sid's involvement is that minor just feels like the last nail in the coffin for this one.

Shame, really, as there was at least a little bit of potential for a good film here. Not necessarily a film that was needed in the first place, but still.

If you're a fan of Ho1kC and/or DR, you'll like this quite a bit - it's nice merge of both styles, SMZ is amazing, and yeah, it's a bit of a bummer Sid wasn't in it more, but Richard Brake does a great job standing in as the 3rd Reject :D

We finally got our Atom Events 3FH poster last week, just got in some Craig frames, it's a killer (*snicker*), design - also as a bonus, a HHN 2019 poster we picked up, the Hellbilly Deluxe scare zone was great and the Ho1kC house was __awesome__ (pic below)!

Well damn, appreciate the review! I think I'm still going to rent it, and then buy it if the mood strikes. It's been known to strike at the most curious of times.

And those posters really do look mighty fine.

The Iceman [2013]

This movie scares the hell out of me. And I don’t mean in a scary sort of way, but Michael Shannon’s character is just plain sinister. Basically this is a movie about a man (Shannon) that chose to work for the mob with hit contracts through 60’/70’s. The supporting cast includes Ray Liotta (Another awesome performance) and Chris Evans.

But the scenes in this movie that are particularly violent, are really well done and straight brutal. I think Michael Shannon has to be one of the most underrated actors in the industry today [He was also in Man of Steel/Midnight Special], but his work in this film deserves to be noted, not only was his work perfect, but in general, Michael Shannon is a fairly scary looking dude, and I don’t know if anyone else would’ve played this role the way he did.

Yeah, this is at times a pretty harrowing film, with much of that atmosphere directly a result of Shannon's brilliance as an actor. If you like his work, and haven't seen it, I strongly recommend Take Shelter (2011).

And I also recommend, and at the same time don't recommend watching interviews given by the real Richard Kuklinski on Youtube. The nickname Iceman is appropriate, and the way he talks about his crimes still gives me shivers on occasion.

I’ll have to give this a look.

In 30 seconds I was able to see a 3.7/10 on IMDB, 14% Audience on RT (no critics score) and a 2.7/5 on Amazon Prime ... why indeed :D
Without reading the reviews, I figured it was some kind of attack based on the leads' political opinions. Come to find out, no, the movie really was that awful for them.

Thanks for the recommendation, I’ll definitely take a look at ‘Take shelter’. But it was interesting, because it’s been reported Kuklinski murdered up to over 100 people, which is insane to think about someone capable of such a crime. And yet, he was allegedly murdered in prison due to ‘foul play’ in 2006. Go figure.

🎃 Sleepy Hollow (1999)- They scouted all over upstate New York for a suitable town, but could find none. They went to the U.K. thinking they’d have a ready made village to choose, but there was none suitable, so they ended up building one anyway. Highly atmospheric, several homages to the original Disney cartoon, Tim Burton’s best movie, one of Johnny Depp’s best performances.
The Hessian, leaping out of the Tree of the Dead mounted on his black steed is an impressive bit of animation. That tree and scene was shot on a set. I get chills watching Ichabod Craine’s flashback of a buried memory, his Mother’s death at the hand of his father in an Iron Maiden. I believe this is a homage to The Pit and the Pendulum (1963).

Watching Sleepy Hallow(1999) is a guilty pleasure, my favorite rendition of the story is Disney’s The Legend of Sleepy Hollow(1949). Interesting bit of trivia... the only voice heard in the entire short is Bing Crosby’s.
