Watched A Star Is Born (2018).

Mixed impressions. The movie lost stamina in the middle.

Fast and Furious, the fourth movie in the series.

Good to see most of the original cast back together.

Quite entertaining, especially if you ignore the fact that most of what the main characters are doing throughout the movie is illegal.

Shane Carruth: Primer (2004)

Four friends working in a garage make a discovery. About 80 minutes of mindf*** ensues.

Third time watching this. It appears I still have very little idea of what is actually happening, and when it's happening. I love this film, and refuse to read explanations for the plot on the internet.

This film should be added to the Time Travel Film Thread ASAP, probably the best time travel movie where the nitty gritty details are important.

The best support material are the complex flow diagrams, this one of my faves (link'ed vs.s inline, in case you don't want to see it, but a quick peak won't disclose much, if anything ...)

Primer Plot Flow Diagram

Have you seen Carruth's Upstream Color? It's just as trippy (and also needs a few viewings).

Yeah, I stumbled upon that thread yesterday evening and that's what sparked the idea to watch this again.

Maybe I'll take a peek, maybe not :) Thanks for providing the link, though!

I have not. Seems I need to add it to my to watch -list. Thanks for the recommendation!

Had time for another film tonight, and the time was ripe to revisit another old favorite.

Luc Besson: Léon (1994)

The story of an Italian hitman (Jean Reno) operating in NYC and a little girl (Natalie Portman in her first feature role), whose paths cross as a result of unfortunate events.

A great film. At times deeply uncomfortable (I watched the longer "International Cut"), but really good filmmaking by all involved. The opening scene, the first ten or so minutes really set the tone for the film. I'm still undecided on which of the versions (theatrical or "international") is the better film, but for now I'm glad to have them both.

This film has definitely one of my favorite Gary Oldman roles, and having seen this movie the first time not that long after it was released Jean Reno will always be Léon for me. If it's of interest to anyone the 4K UHD BD released by Sony looks and sounds really good, highly recommended.

It makes a nice companion watch with Besson's La Femme Nikita (also featuring Jean Reno as a "cleaner").

There are, at any given time, a couple of films on my shelf that are pulled out a couple of inches out so that I remember to watch them, and you bet Nikita is one of them at this very moment.

A good film, that one. It would have been cool had Reno's character been named Léon in that one as well, but if memory serves it was Viktor. Still golden.

My "in head canon" is that he just changed his name :D

What a twisted movie!

Two brothers who scheme to rob banks. Excellent storyline and really well played by Chris pine/Ben Foster. Of course Jeff Bridges is always good.

It’s one of those more ‘low budget’ movies, but I feel like these are the types of movies that make the biggest impact without all the unnecessary CGI.

Really good film. Taylor Sheridan, the screenwriter, is on a pretty good roll and personally I've very much liked every film of his I've seen to date.

The Shawshank Redemption is my favourite for decades! Worth watching and inspiring movie
The first time I watched this I thought prison movie, ehh. I had no clue in advance what a tremendous ending it would have.

This sounds interesting. I read a blurb at RT: https://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/primer/

I just added that to my Netflix queue. Sounds good so I'll watch it very soon.

You will really enjoy it. It’s those melodramatic movies with actors who can make the plot seem as if it was feasible in real life to have a story that plays out like this. Really, the whole movie is excellent.
