Nice twist in that movie.

Olga Kurylenko can look so different depending how she is made up. I had a crush on her in Quantum of Solice as Camille because she reminded me of my wife when she was young who is half Hispanic and 20% Native American. :)

Kurylenko is very beautiful. I saw her in Terence Malick's 2012 experimental movie To the Wonder, although it was knowing that Rachel McAdams was in it that had drawn my attention. I had enjoyed McAdams' acting in Spotlight and found myself wishing that she had had had a larger role in the Malick film.

Anyway To the Wonder was a beautifully filmed effort that quickly for me got around to requiring too much suspension of disbelief. I liked the idea of the crisis of faith of the priest played by Javier Bardem (the assassin in No Country for Old Men), but there was less working through of that than focus on the entangled love stories. The cinematography and the underlying spirituality-seeking of the film were compelling enough to get me across the finish line somehow. Another film where one could excusably think later there was more to the trailer than to the film. Probably unfair at least from POV of Terrence Malick fans, and I admit to liking films where "something different" has been attempted. Not sure the cast of To the Wonder was still in the mood for that experiment though by time Malick wrapped the thing; it can be probably be nearly overwhelming to work typical Hollywood and then land in a very different workspace. At least some of that film probably remains in the eye and mind of a director trying to share more of it than some of us would be willing to look for in the "finished" movie.

The best technology did not always prevail... :)

... because porn. :D

Fortunately I updated my entire collection to laser disc so it is future proof!

I have a nice Pioneer player and 28 discs or so, I've offered them up a few times on videophile type sites, figured there might still be some collectors ... and they're still sitting in the closet.

Hahaha, and just because I had an existing text file of the titles:

Silence Of The Lambs
Backdraft
Hidden Fortress (Boxed Criterion)
Aliens (Boxed Special Ed)
Monty Python and the Holy Grail
Return Of The Jedi
Looney Tunes Curtain Calls
Dracula
The Wall
Full Metal Jacket
Raider Of The Lost Arc
Star Trek 2, Wrath of Khan
Fistfull Of Dollars
Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade
Seven Samurai
Ran
Terminator 2
Toy Story
Princess Bride
Pulp Fiction
The Crow
The Unforgiven

(Anime)
Vampire Princess Miyu (Volume 1)
Robot Carnival
Ad Police (Volume 1, 2 And 3, single disc)
Area 88 Act 1
Area 88 Act 2
Area 88 Act 3

Ahh profanity, the crutch of the inarticulate m****r*****r.

But in all seriousness, Goodfellas really is a great film, and one you've just convinced me to watch tonight! So thanks.
In actuality, just about all the films Pesci appears in that are somewhat "violent" contain many curse words. But when he says them, they are certainly effective. I provided one very good example with JFK. Yes, Goodfellas is another one, as is another Scorsese gem, Casino.

Oh I'm quite aware! And, despite being "somewhat" typecast, he just pulls it off really well. To the degree that when he has a role that doesn't call for the usual obscenities or violent outbursts, it's always a bit jarring to watch.

But a fine actor nonetheless. Man I really should finally watch The Irishman...

Harley Quinn: Birds of Prey (2020).
Definitely an entertaining movie! I personally liked it. Good action, good humor, fun sequences, and a good sountrack.

While I don't have a ready list of my laser discs, the one that I know I have is the original Star Wars. I won't get rid of it because it has definitive proof that Han shot first.

Stated very accurately!

I have watched The Irishman, and while quite good, I actually liked The Departed better.

If you have not seen JFK, watch it. The performances by so many of the great actors in it (including Pesci) are truly memorable.

Agreed, The Departed was The superior movie!

Horrible.

Just one of those movies that was randomly on TV that I tuned into, and totally regretted it. I don’t know what it is, but Nicolas Cage can either be a really talented actor depending on his role (Like the Indie film ‘Joe’ and ‘Matchstick Men) or absolutely terrible in other films like this. Honestly, his acting is so bad in this movie, it’s comical. There’s no real connection with his character, the plot never really catches on, as a matter fact, I don’t even feel like explaining the plot, being I wouldn’t want to waste anyone’s time suggest watching this film on any level.

(Oh, And I’m not sure what captivated me more, how bad the plot/acting was in this so-called movie or how ridiculous Nicolas Cage‘s hair was. 😁)

Can't watch it anymore since I found out that Stone decided to re-position things in Dealey Plaza in order to make his theory work.
I visited Oswald's grave a few years back (it's in DFW), and I've been to Dealey Plaza multiple times. I am no expert but when I went there all the conspiracy theories collapsed for me. Car going at 5mph, it's almost a clear shot from the sixth floor.

What was Stone’s theory?

I read this a long time ago, but he placed at least one guy behind a bush in the only place he thought that the second or third killer could've been. However, while filming he found out that it couldn't work so he was faced with a decision: kill the theory (and the movie), or simply move people and objects around. He chose the latter.

Didn't know about this, thanks for the info. The (new to me) historical inaccuracy aside I remember the film working pretty well for what it was. Like I said, I need to rewatch it.

Finally got around to watching What Did Jack Do?, a 17 minute short film by David Lynch about a monkey being interrogated in connection with a crime.

Wonderful stuff. I have a feeling that Jack will haunt my dreams for weeks to come.
