Awesome movie!

You are literally the first person I've ever seen say that they didn't like Reservoir Dogs.

I've never seen the film but whenever Tarantino comes up people usually rave about RD.
Went to see it at the cinema. Never seen so many people walk out of a film.

Yeah, me too. I've never come across anyone who didn't like that movie.
I’m not really a fan of any of his movies I’ve seen to be honest.

That film series was so much better than the later TV series. When they make a series from a film you are nearly always left wondering why?
Obvious exception being Stargate.

My wife and I both liked the TV show (not as much as the movies) and we really liked the change they made when they replaced the original star. Of course, the only thing we could think when we 1st saw him was "Stifler!".

Winchester (2018)- 33% RTAS. Horror film based on the Sarah Winchester and the Winchester mansion in San Jose, California. She believes she is cursed and the house is possessed by souls killed by the Winchester rifle. Blah, not worth your time Imo. How many faces have to flash suddenly before the mechanism gets old?

Above the Law - 1988

Steven Seagal truly showed some promise in the early 80's, sadly he remained in the 80's. Martial Arts, respect for yourself and others is paramount. To be defeated by a worthy opponent is not a loss, more a learning experience...

I like Steven's films as they are an ultra easy watch and generally action packed, often amusing. The films are fun and he does have an entertaining screen presence. Kind of take your brain out stuff, equally as a working actor he certainly put it in with no sign of slowing down, all power to him...

His films are what they are, sometimes best played silent with some great music in the foreground 😆

Love the old-school Steven Seagal. Fun fact about him- He was actually an ‘Aikido instructor’ and even had his own dojo out in Japan if I recall accurately. [He was even ‘Deputized’ as a Sheriff.]The guy was incredibly athletic and physically very strong. Unfortunately, he did not age well at all.

Dust Devil (1992)

Dark, gory and mystical. I do like Richard Stanley's work, Dust Devil doesn't disappoint, haunting, atmospheric & foreboding with the directors cut being well worth the watch.

While were at it;

The Island of Dr. Moreau (1996)

As much as the film was criticised I personally like it. John Frankenheimer did a pretty decent job of picking up the pieces and wrangling the children up and down the line. What I would recommend is to watch the film blind (if possible), then watch Lost Soul: The Doomed Journey of Richard Stanley's Island of Dr. Moreau, then watch the film again, you will be enlightened...

An enlightening journey indeed, illustrates just how studio interference and seasoned (capricious) actors can derail a project as opposed to supporting one. Richard Stanley undoubtedly has the "eye" yet lacked experience at the time. I would love to see him return to the film and complete his vison, would be a wild ride indeed...

Color Out of Space (2019)

Richard Stanley back on form with a solid cast and fabulous bombastic performance by Nicolas Cage. One of if not the best big screen adaptations of H.P. Lovecraft's work. Color Out of Space is "out there" as it should be, if you like Richard Stanley & Lovecraft you owe it to yourself to give this one a watch, be rude not too 😆

Halloween [2007]—Remake

[^ I used the German poster, as I thought it was pretty cool looking.]

Anyways, I’m always a fan of horror movies if they’re done right (Most of them are not). Rob zombie‘s renditions of the Halloween revamps was so brutally violent over the original Carpenter version, but yet so well put together where the violence actually shows you how sinister Michael Myers really is, but just in a different light in terms of how violence has transcended in the ‘horror’ movie making today.

Additionally, I don’t think Zombie receives enough credit For his Directing style, and I think personally that’s because Rob Zombie is not someone that really is respected as a ‘director‘ in terms of movie making.

But when you watch the Halloween revamp from Zombies perspective, he ties perfectly so many original facets from the 1978 Halloween directed by Carpenter.

We’re all adults here, and yet when we watch Zombies version, you realize how explicit they really are, but I think that’s why I like Rob zombies version over John Carpenters, simply because there’s nothing filtered in his movies, Which when you make a horror movie, you almost have to make it dark and gory to leave the viewer actually somewhat stunned how the movie was ‘In your face’ removing any ‘Feels good’ thoughts.
