They just don’t make comedies like this anymore. Caught this on TV last night and it never gets old.

Quotes ahead—————😁

Lloyd: Hey guys, couple of big gulps, Ay? Well, have a good night.

***************
“Harry:You mean to tell me, you had an extra pair of gloves this entire time?

Lloyd: Yeah, we are in the Rockies.“

Lloyd says to old lady:

“Senior citizens, although slow and dangerous behind the wheel, can still serve a purpose. I'll be right back! Don't you go dying on me!”

******************

“Harry: I expected the Rocky Mountains to be a little rockier than this.

Lloyd: I was thinking the same thing. That John Denver's full of ****, man. “

******************
“Lloyd : I'll tell ya where. Some place warm. A place where the beer flows like wine and beautiful women instinctively flock that salmon of capastrano! I'm talking about a place called ASS-PEN!

Harry: I don't know Lloyd, the French are *******s.”

One more thing about “Murder By Death”:

Y’all reminded me that years ago I read a “novelization” of the movie. I don’t know if it was based on an earlier version of the script, but there were some differences.

Two that I remember:

When Bensonmum and the Charlestons are going through that routine about Bensonmum’s name, and Bensonmum says his father’s name was Howard, Dick Charleston says, “Your father’s name was Howard?”, to which Bensonmum replies, “I suppose by most people’s standards he was very odd.” The narrative then shows that Bensonmum is secretly amused by this conversation and, if memory serves, suggests that he is making all this up just to mess with them.

And the ending was very different. Despite Twain’s antagonism towards his guests, at the end he and Bensonmum stand side by side and admit they admire the detectives. Bensonmum points out they failed to solve the murder, but Twain closes the story by saying something like, “Yes, but didn't they fail magnificently? God bless them!”
Now I want to dig up the book. I still have it somewhere.

If you want your own copy, it can be had on Amazon for only $924.

This is an ABC Movie of the Week that has turned into a cult classic: “Satan’s Triangle”.

2646081F-567B-454A-9DE3-F0BE4701A905.jpeg

The US Coast Guard answers a distress call from a yacht which encountered a storm in the Bermuda Triangle. They find a lone survivor and several dead bodies who died or went missing under...unusual circumstances.

This movie is most famous for its delicious ending in which things quickly go sideways. You know that Twilight Zone that ends with, “It’s a cookbook!”? This is better.

It’s a quick 74 minutes, and some of the scariest stuff takes place in bright sunlight. Perfect summer horror fare. It’s on YouTube.

I think “Doctor Sleep” was done in at the box office—as was nearly every other film that month—by the juggernaut that was “Joker”.

Incidentally, I’ve seen two of Flanagan’s earlier films: “Absentia”, which I think was the movie that showed his promise; and “Oculus”, which proved what he could do with a studio sized budget.

Both good horror films. “Absentia” is free with Amazon Prime.

Oh yeah, Absentia is one of those movies we keep meaning to track down, good call, and Oculus is pretty fun.

I didn't realize the Doctor Sleep on HBO/HMAX is the super duper director's cut, ~30 minutes longer, apparently some good stuff in the additional material.

COSMOS

eh.. 3/5

You Kill Me, a 2007 comedy that makes me laugh heartily with Ben Kingsley, Téa Leoni, Dennis Farina, Philip Baker Hall, and Luke Wilson. Haven't watched this for maybe 4 years. Think I'll have a little Kingsleyfest and queue up Sexy Beast next.

Guardians of the Galaxy (2014)- 92% RTAS. I’ve said a lot about this movie in the last 6 years, one of those perfect movies in the Marvel big scheme of things with great tunes! I love Quill’s Milano. 🥰

Critic description: Guardians of the Galaxy is just as irreverent as fans of the frequently zany Marvel comic would expect -- as well as funny, thrilling, full of heart, and packed with visual splendor.

Here is where I diverge from the majority. I didn't like this movie at all.

A couple of people at work convinced me to watch it and I purchased it on iTunes. After I put the movie on I was so bored with it that I shut it off halfway though it.

I don’t think ‘Guardians of Galaxy’ wasn’t boring Per se, I think what made it so popular was Chris Pratt and the other cast members meshed so well together in terms of making more of a ‘comedy‘ like superhero action film. I remember when that film released, everybody was talking about how hilarious it was, but I never watched it in theaters. When did I watch it for the first time, I admit, it definitely has its moments where it’s a clever dialogue that made it funny, and Chris Pratt (Who is very similar to the like of Ryan Reynolds was in Dead Pool), but I also didn’t care for the storyline in G.O.G.

[Actually, my favorite character was with Dave Bautista (Drax), and played a significant role with the Avengers theme moving forward.]

The Spy Who Came in From the Cold (1965)

Another solid Cold What thriller with top performances all round. Dark & gritty, the dirty world of espionage...

Q-6
Cold What, indeed. I watched it last winter when I do what's become my annual Le Carré read and watch the available movie adaptations. Although George Smiley makes an appearance in Cold, he's played by Rupert Davies, and not Alec Guinness. The events that happened in Cold are re-examined in Le Carré's A Legacy of Spies.

And you call yourself a "General"!?!? :p

I like both GOG films.

The dialogue volume, God I'm losing my hearing, wasn't loud enough though. lol.

I love the first scene with adult Peter Quill on Morag, a dead planet searching for relics and discovers an orb which turns out to be the Power Infinity Stone. It starts out with a mysterious somber mood as he see what once was, a dead civilization, but then he pulls out his Walkman. :D

I want You Back- Jackson Five
Great shot of the Milano departing

Sorry to hear that. We all can’t like the same thing. It has a significant humor quotient which might be at odds with some viewers ability to get into the story? I‘d say if you were bored you were not engaged. This is not meant as a criticism or demeaning your opinion.
