My wife and I watched Ambulance a few nights ago. A good movie.

Favorite scene...

When you said Ambulance, I thought you were talking about this one at first. Also a good, if depressing, film.

Emily The Criminal (2022)- 👍 A woman with talent struggles with her life based on a DWI conviction trying to catch a break. I’m tempted to appraise the character in advance, but I think it’s better to see it for yourself.

Atomic Blond (2017)- If you are looking for some fantastic melee sequences with a killer female lead (Charlize Theron) wrapped in a good espionage story, involving double agents and a list of agent identities, look no further.

I’ve seen choreographed fight sequences, where the moves are made, but it does not look real, Hana comes to mind. The way this was filmed, wether it was a stylized technical effect or real physical output, Theron projects real force in every strike she delivers. It impressed me. And it could be James McAvoy’s best role.

2 Classics-
Bridge Over The River Kwai
(1957)- One of the 2 best William Holden films about a British Officer so blinded by rules that he loses sight of the big picture in a Japanese WWII prison camp.

Hawaii (1966)- Based on the tremendous 1959 Michener Novel, the main characters, Rev Hale (Max von Sydow) you want to strangle, and his wife Jerusa (Julie Andrews) you want to hug. I know this is history, but the way human beings have historically treated each other, disgusts me.

Atomic Blonde is a good movie. No complaints on this one. Haven't watched the other one, let alone heard of it. Added it to my queue of movies to watch!

Watched an old classic and I still like it to this day:

Like Atomic Blonde is a good fun film. Doesn't take itself too seriously, yet delivers on the action. Not preaching, just a good watch with some strong performances all round with a smattering of humour...:)

The Pale Blue Eye (2022 Netflix)- Excellent murder mystery set in the 19th Century West Point Military Academy as a retired detective (Christian Bale) investigates the murder of a cadet. And shocker, a historical setting in the US, featuring Cadet Edgar Allen Poe that’s actually filmed in the US, instead of Czechoslovakia, even if it’s not Upstate New York, close enough. :)

Two story tellers meet - a solitary academic mythographer and a djinn. The djinn desperately wants her to make 3 wishes. Knowing how things go wrong with djinn wishes she resists. Very nice visuals, no cut and paste from other films here. Some great stories.

I watched Cars 1 last week, first movie in ages. Really good. Will watch the 2nd and 3rd soon.

What makes me laugh is I never got round to these films till now, even though I love cars.

I follow a guy on Instagram who has a Mustang with Lightning McQueen liveries on it. Well cool.

The original Cars was excellent. The other 2 were fair at best.

Elvis (2022)- Excellent, sad, outstanding performance by Austin Butler. During the Vegas years, I kept seeing the Bladerunner 2049 Vegas sequence in my head. :)

This and Apocalypse Now are my favorite war films of al time; of which I just rewatched the Redux version since it was streaming on Netflix. The dramatic acting in these films is next level. Also honorable mention to Platoon.

Apocalypse Now illustrates the darkness of war perfectly. Man's inhumanity to man never ceases to amaze. Now it just about the $....

The farther up the river you go, the more surreal it gets…was this the Redux version with an extra 49 minutes added? I’ve been meaning to watch it, $2.99 to rent at Amazon.

Apocalypse Now Redux- Wow. I liked most of the changes and additions, including the after the show Playboy Bunny scene, such a good anti-war film, a surreal masterpiece. The French plantation sequence adds to the ambiance of the story and nods to Vietnam’s former colony history, but it strikes me as a net neutral side story.

Remains to be a hard watch, as what potentially could have happened was very close in actuality in the day. Thankfully wiser leaders prevailed. TBH I think the Chernobyl disaster was very much catalyst as it exemplified that no one wins and just how dangerous nuclear technology is in the wrong hands or the uninformed...

Did you like it? I thought it was hilarious. Then again I love Kevin Hart and especially The Rock and even moreso I love them together.
My wife and I love CI and agree pretty much anything else with them both. Even when it's just their voices in DC League of Superpets

The bridge, hell of a film. While I understand the mentality, the treatment of the captured troops remains absolutely unforgivable. Japanese as a nation should hang their heads in shame, not be arming up...

Where I choose to live there is a deep seated hatred, for very good reason. Due to abuse, rape, torture and the murder of countless innocents. Good is if Japan wants to play the same card today it will be absolutely obliterated by WMD, of that I have little doubt.

Apologies to all, sometimes you simply need to speak out...
