Just came upon "Two for the Money", an intriguing film with my fav actor, Matthew Mcconaughey. Decent film about the world of betting, risk, a pampered lifestyle and, of course, the instability of such a "job". After watching, I wanted to get more familiar with the betting worlds and I found no better source than https://legalbet.uk/ Quite a good and informative resource that covers everything: from bookies reviews to sports news. Alright, let’s get back to watching films.

A decent watch, either ways a needless loss of life on all sides...

Pitch Black (2000)- Besides Vin Diesel’s masterful “I Am Groot!” of recent years, I’d say this is his best (first lead) performance in an excellent sci-fi story, with a top notch spaceship crash, and excellent flesh eating critters. I did not care for a sequel, The Chronicles of Riddick.

Vin Diesel absolutely nails the character as does the rest of the cast...

What really, Chronicles I thought was way better, one of my fav movies actually.

Recently finished John Wick 4. Just a lot of senseless action and killing, c'mon with the blind guy, really.
Some parts were ok.

Mostly waiting for some kinda tie in or nod to The Matrix with Fishburne as a character.

The Adam Project (2022 Netflix)- Enjoyable, creative story, good action, good music, a time travel story you don’t have to think about. Possibly my favorite Ryan Reynolds movie. :)

Just rewatched, still enjoyable, and what I really like is that time travel as portrayed (single timeline) is very enjoyable Not breaking suspension of disbelief, at least not for me. :)

Extraction 2 (2023 Netflicks)- Holy crap. Did I say HOLY CRAP!? Long uninterrupted sequences of blazing hot action, with the camera flying all over. Huge action thumbs up! :)

chris hemsworth being chris hemsworth, as per usual.
he's totally ruined byron for us peasants yet he remains one very fit dude.
still an average actor tho' … 🧐

Close (2019 Netflix)- Noomi Rapace plays a bad ass body guard hired to escort a rich heiress. Thumbs up, although I found the end to be a bit muddled, regarding whom the bad guys really were. It was hard to keep track without a second viewing, and they kind of mislead you. ;)

I’d post the trailer, but imo, it’s a spoiler.

if you like noomi rapace, this is a cracker … dead man down

Eden & After

I'm pretty happy to find that after a lifetime of watching hollywood make the same 3 stories over and over around the Monomyth/Heroes Journey formula, the French have an entirely different relationship with what film is and does and have produced a ton of completely unpredictable, interesting, sometimes incomprehensible, compelling films to dig into.

Totally agree Hollywood is far too formulaic. Same boring stores repeated over and over again, not worth my time to watch more to the point my $. Can do German with ease, French more difficult, Mandarin should be better than I am but I get by :)

I’d descaribe him as an excellent action actor. I loved him as Thor, thought he was in the Zone, absolutely loved Ragnarok, until Love and Thunder where the director slide into bizarro land, and I blame his acting instructions at that point where they made him overtly silly and the story included some terrible elements passed off as comedy. It would definitely take a different kind of role to see if he had something more. I acknowledge, side by side, you can watch Christian Bale to observe some real acting talent. 🤔

While his part was small, I really liked him in Ghostbusters. I thought he was pretty darn funny in that one also!!
