It was a lot better than I thought it would be. I recommend it. These two have good chemistry. And the cameos in it are fantastic.

The Rental (2020) - Dan Stevens. Two couples rent a house on the coast for the weekend, bad things happen. It’s 90 minutes, mostly slow, and the end is unsatisfying. 🤨

Enjoyed Extraction (1) and was looking forward to the 2nd iteration. Not expecting much, just some light diversion. Sorely disappointed. If you are a fan of non-stop fighting then this is the movie for you. If you are interested in plot, dialogue, characters you care about then go elsewhere. Just recycled stuff from other movies, such as the train sequence. Didn't see anything novel in the fight sequences, but could have missed something as I was reading News on my iPad hoping for the interminably long fight scenes to end. The most creative dialogue was instead of using the standard "go, go, go!" they got creative and changed it to "drive, drive, drive!". Must be a union rule somewhere that you have to say it 3 times. Acting was OK.

Added to my "most disappointing films" list for 2023.

Warning: This is kinda off topic (so spank me) as its more to do with the way of watching movies. Recently while crook in bed (Im ok now thanks) I used my obsolete ipads (one a mini and the other an ipad2) both on iso 9, to watch movies on youtube, with no ads - thanks to an app named 'youtube browser'.
Thought Id mention it in case any one out there has old ipads sitting un-used somewhere.

So I rented John Wick 4, hmm not impressed, Keanu is too old to pull off the moves convincingly, you can see them missing faces etc by several inches, it’s very structured and doesn’t really flow, the film feels an hour too long. The utterly completely totally indestructible suit is a bit too much.
The best bit was the flipping dog!

Think I much preferred the first and second films. Shame but it’s run it’s course now.

We watched Jones and the Crystal Skull (2008) good start, riding the fridge in a nuclear blast broke my suspension of disbelief, and I really disliked Shia Labeouf as a Marlin Brando Wild Bunch wannabe. He was miscast Imo. The chase though the jungle was over the top and over the waterfalls, sure, whatever. The ending, just accept what your eyes show you… :)

Thought it was terrible, just milking it for all it's worth. Should have stopped at Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade as that perfectly rounded out the trilogy. Have little if any hope for the latest release...

I am glad someone liked it lol... I couldn't get past the fridge scene. The movie as a whole was absolutely trash. Don't get me wrong, I like Indy, a lot, but I did not like this movie at all. Was excited for part five... but at this point, I will wait for it to hit the home market as I expect it sooner than later.

ha - that fridge !!
Fridge makers have overlooked a great marketing sales pitch. They could even include a 'money back' guarantee!!

I didn't want to watch this movie but it was on my list due to great reviews.

Netflix description:

Based on the bombshell New York Times investigation of Harvey Weinstein, reporters Megan Twohey and Jodi Kantor went from underdogs to inspirations by shattering the silence surrounding sexual assault in Hollywood. Determined to expose the truth many fear to tell, Megan and Jodi's partnership shakes up the system, empowering courageous women to retake their strength through stories of survival.

However once I started it I was hooked. It was like a great detective film - who did what, when? How can you get people to talk when their jobs are at stake? Can you trust and verify what someone says? The real terror felt by the victims and the strength to confront and over come it. What it takes to do great investigative reporting such as in "All the Presidents Men" and Watergate. Admire those who are willing to risk everything in order to do the right thing. Quite emotional when they got that first "yes" after months of doors being closed in their face.

About to start "The Trial of the Chicago 7", I've been putting off seeing it long enough (I've been subconsciously avoiding movies that end up running for Best Picture since they're often a drag to watch due to the "oscar bate-y" structure...)
I like Borat though! Very nice!

Didn’t like Crystal Skulls. And from what I’ve been hearing, the new one isn’t much better.

Just rewatched The Mexican. Brad Pitt was fun, James Gandolfini was also great. Julia Roberts was totally miscast and just came off as annoying most of the time. The first Act was pretty great, the 2nd act average and the 3rd was poor. I think the movie could have been fixed with some rewrites but that didn't happen and it all feels a bit shallow and rushed. The clothing and hairstyles do bring back memories of the late 90s early 2000s though so that was a fun little nostalgia trip.
