Muoi: The Curse Returns

Vietnamese horror on Netflix. Pretty standard horror story. 6.5/10

Last week I started a rewatch of the Mission Impossible movies. Hopefully I can see II this weekend (Maybe tomorrow night). I'm wanting to remember what happened before Dead Reckoning comes out.

65 (2023)- This story, they lay it out in print at the beginning, “65 million years ago a transport expedition full of human looking people runs into calamity and they end up crash landing on an uncharted planet labeled as Earth”, full of mean nasty dinosaurs. Adventures ensue…you might also remember that 65m years ago in Earth history, a significant event takes place.

Bottom line, I found this story to be border line boring and forgettable. There nothing that stands out for remembering

I've been rewatching the Mission Impossible movies to get ready for Dead Reckoning.

This weekend I saw II and III. My opinion on II got lowered and my Opinion on III was actually improved.

Now we get into the great movies of the franchise and I can't wait.

I just watched Transformer , Rise of the Beast a few days ago. I find the movie decent, not great. 7 out of 10. Not gonna reveal spoilers, but that movie needs a sequel to wrap up IMO.

For Queen and Country:

I think if I lived in this neighbourhood, Id join the Paras as a means to escape.
Ok..so the accent is a bit off but still a rivetingly gritty story.

😍 for Dirty Dozen. :)
Some other fav WWII:
  • Kelly’s Heroes
  • Where Eagles Dare
  • Guns of Navorone
  • The Blue Max
  • In Harms Way
  • Longest Day
  • more recently, I enjoyed Saving Private Ryan too. This film does a good job illustrating the horror and pain of war, and the damage it does to human beings beyond the physical damage.
Id add this to that list:

Edge of Darkness (2010)

Middling at best attempts to condense and update on the original content. Rather fails as too much is not adequately presented with too many voids in the close to two hour run time.

Edge of Darkness (1985)

Sophisticated, strikingly intense story of a British policeman investigating the murder of his daughter. Edge of Darkness unravels slowly to expose an uglier world where personal grief is irrelevant. Twisted and convoluted as the truth and players are exposed intime...

I had no idea Mel's version was a remake. I liked his version. Watchable, but now I want to find the original and give it a spin.

I recommend the film "Sherlock Holmes" with Robert Downey Jr. if you like exciting adventures and intellectual detective stories. Released in 2009 and directed by Guy Ritchie, this film offers a fresh take on the legendary detective Sherlock Holmes and his sidekick Dr. Watson, played by Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law, respectively.

The film "Sherlock Holmes" offers a dynamic story that is full of action, humor and mysteries. It successfully combines modern elements with the classic aspects of the Holmes and Watson characters, creating an exciting and entertaining world. Robert Downey Jr. plays Holmes with great charisma and energy, bringing new layers and depth to the character.

Welcome! :) Not to start on a disagreeable note, but I disliked the RDJ version primarily because of Guy Ritchie. I did not care for his Holmes Style as compared to others such as Basil Rathbone before and Cumberbatch after. But this is not my suggestion not to watch it by any means. We all have different tastes. :)

Thank you for your opinion, I agree with you, everyone has different tastes. It's just that I really like everything related to Sherlock Holmes

How do you feel about those other variances? Basil Rathbone, although ancient, before my time was my favorite, although it’s been decades since I watched one of those.

Have been dropping back into early 'Film Noir' movies lately. Have a large collection of titles on dvd - singles and box sets - many of which we have watched before, a good many others though have never been viewed, and I'm trying to pick titles and actors that I think might still provide interest to us now.
So far, it's been with limited success -- the 'mood' just doesn't seem to with us now, as it was a few years ago, when we were really into this stuff. But will try a few more before giving up.

I agree with you, although the films are a little outdated, but they are not bad

Maltese Falcon still has it, last time I watched it, but I agree, you have to be in the zone. And I don't know if Casablanca is considered Noir, probably not, but love that one too. :)

Recently I tried to watch Maltese Falcon again, but had to stop when we got to the torture scene.
