I liked this version as well but I still prefer the Danny Kaye version. The Secret Life of Walter Mitty directed by Ben Stiller.
Critics panned the movie, and yet the audience overwhelmingly loved it. Why? Because this is what moviemaking is all about. I struggle in finding another movie that has so many “technical” issues, and yet delivers an outstanding product. The visuals. The sounds. The performances. The experiences. The meaning.
Go see any excerpt on YouTube and you’ll find hundreds if not thousands of comments of the like “this movie changed my life.”
I relate to those comments.
While I do recognize some pacing issues in the first 20 minutes, I truly do not care. I give this movie a 10/10 as if it was perfect. It might not be perfect, but it leads to betterment of your own world and it does so with lots of symbology and hinted messages.
I love that movie. Found it by accident browsing Prime. Seems to happen somewhat often on there. Found The Map of Tiny Perfect Things and The Little Prince the same way which I loveView attachment 2239170
On my best movies of 2023 list. Light entertainment but no cutting and pasting from other movies. Totally original, had no idea where it was going. Ending was a bit standard, but there was a twist.

In some ways the opposite of The Portable Door. Visually drab and the first 3/4 of the movie was somewhat boring with scenes of massive piles of paperwork being shuffled around and ignored by bored bureaucrats. The payoff came in the last quarter of the film. It was quite moving and worth the wait. A people film.
That made me think it could be interesting if a theater could rig up a room with two screens and show them concurrently. I wonder if I could process what was going on in both properly
Or video goggles with one movie showing in each eye. Not coming out of it scrambled would be a challenge. That made me think it could be interesting if a theater could rig up a room with two screens and show them concurrently. I wonder if I could process what was going on in both properly
I didn't love it, but it was OK.I love that movie. Found it by accident browsing Prime...
They’re both good in their own right. I think that Stiller’s version truly wanted to focus on the mental health issue and the limitations it brings to the various opportunities in life. The “Space Oddity” scene is very clear about that, with many hidden meanings.I liked this version as well but I still prefer the Danny Kaye version.
Fred Claus - UNDERRATED holiday movie! Andy BaizeJust watched Fred Claus last night. Pretty funny. It was better than I thought it would be.
Love the flick, but what makes it Christmas-esque other than it's based at the company Christmas party? Andy BaizeI am watching Die Hard, which is perhaps the best Christmas movie ever made in the history of humankind.
Exactly? Those parties don't happen in the summer so...?Love the flick, but what makes it Christmas-esque other than it's based at the company Christmas party? Andy Baize
Oops - see if this works:World War II film is presented from the point of view of a machine gun company of the Finnish Army during the Continuation War between Finland and the Soviet Union from 1941 to 1944.
Yep - when Finland was invaded so a country with a pop less than 4 million up against the Russians.
No bullet proof super heros in this movie..and some good character stories.
Look out for the conscripted farmer who addresses officers by their first names.
Cant imagine doing that in the NZ Army..especially that time I was up before the burnham camp commandant..lol
Oh and it's all English sub titles..so if that's a prob better skip it then.
Rather liked this movie - gave me a history lesson.
brando moved to tahiti after making this one.
i made it through 15 minutes before thinking … … naaah.Heart of Stone (Netflix 2023)- Spy thriller, a bit over the top, a little too slick, the fight sequences energetic, but not the best, definitely not Atomic Blond quality.
