Just got back from seeing Monsters University with the family. It was really fun and, of course, the kids enjoyed it.

I'm a big fan of Monsters, Inc. so I saw Monsters University with my little sister yesterday. We found it quite funny and enjoyable. Although, Monsters, Inc. was much much better, in my opinion.

This is on my must see list, but not necessarily in the theater.

I saw World War Z today. It was ok, not a typical zombie movie, more like Outbreak.

So if you had it to do over again, would you have seen it in the theater or waited until rental? Is it one of those movies that benefit from seeing it on the big screen? Previews seem to indicate that.

I would wait until it came out on DVD.

Just saw This is The End. It was so much better than I was expecting it to be. I genuinely laughed quite a few times during it and it was just a really fun movie to watch.

Just saw the 1961 film "The Oscar"...truly astounding!

This film made the Razzie's "Ten Best Worst Films Ever Made", and deservedly so.

But...don't miss this film!

This film fails in every possible way a film can fail.

The script...oh, my...the script! To say it was incredibly awful is to insult the incredibly awful. It is truly astounding. Trust me, you have never seen a film with a worse script.

All other aspects of this film live up to the standards set by the script. The acting, direction, cinematography, art direction, set design and dressing, and the musical score are truly beyond belief.

Please...don't miss this film. You'll have a wonderful time just watching a perfect failure. And perfection should never be ignored.

If you're in the mood for some incredible laughs...especially if you are with friends who can hoot at it with you...catch this wonderful disaster!

"The Oscar" got a 5.3 rating (pretty bad) on IMDB.com . Compare that to the 2.1 rating "Battle of Los Angeles" (not to be confused with Battle: Los Angeles) got on IMDB.com . As bad as "The Oscar" is, I doubt you could make it through 20 minutes of "Battle of Los Angeles" :D.

I'm proud to say I watched all of "Battle Of Los Angeles".:p

Admittedly, I was doing stuff on my computer, and I don't multi task well...but I sort of saw the whole thing. Total crap, but fine for general background noise, and occasionally looking up from the computer for some explosions and stuff.

"The Oscar" is uniquely, spectacularly, and hilariously bad. Every scene...nay, every frame, is a disaster...and infinitely more fun than "Battle Of L. A." :D

You sir, should get a medal. That was a truly awful film :)

Thank you!:)

I'm willing to make tremendous sacrifices in order to serve my public. Noblesse oblige and all that.

And speaking of not such wonderful movies (although better that "Battle of L.A."), I just saw "Prometheus"

The visuals were terrific. Unfortunately, it seems most all of the huge budget went into the visuals, and almost nothing went into the script, which I thought was really poor.

Once you get past that Eric von Daniken...humans evolution was influence by non-terrestrials stuff, the script was wooden and often just plain awful. The plot was basically an alien monster movie. I thought the original "Alien" was fun and had a good plot...and was basically a haunted house story in outer space. But it was so well done, with a decent script and good acting, and with a creepy, wet, claustrophobic environment. This film, which was originally intended as a prequel to "Alien", and later changed to a stand-alone with strong references to "Alien", had none of the clever, scary, creepy, suspense of the original.

The acting was, IMO, wooden, with the exception of the lead female character, who overacted like crazy.

It appears, particularly with the big-money films, the filmmakers assume that if the audience is blown away by the visuals, they won't notice that there is no plot, no script and mediocre acting, at best.

Anyway, it's an entertaining visual treat with no substance of any kind...but an OK way to waste 2 hours.

Is that the same as "Battle: Los Angeles"?

I would watch a documentary about rocks if it had Charlize Theron. :D:drool:

I'm very impressed :D. I had to stop watching it soon after Nia Peeples ran around killing alien drone ships with a katana.

Have you also seen Battle: Los Angeles ? They have been airing it lately on cable and it's ok for that type of movie (still only a 5.8 on IMDB.com).

Is that the same as "Battle: Los Angeles"?

"Battle: Los Angeles" was a big Hollywood blockbuster (IMDB.com score 5.8)

"Battle of Los Angeles" was a Syfy channel movie ripoff of the original movie (IMDB.com score of 2.1).

Unfortunately, they flooded the stores with "Battle of Los Angeles" DVDs and people bought them thinking they were "Battle: Loa Angeles" DVDs.

Shrink is the only person I know of that claims to see the entire "Battle of Los Angeles" (it's that bad).
Edit: He saw the Hollwood one.

Check out the comments on the movie.

That was the Hollywood blockbuster with an IMDB score of 5.8. If you can without spending money, check out the other film (Battle of Los Angeles). I would guarantee you would not finish it :D.

Now there's a strong recommendation!

;)

Apparently there are two films...I saw the one with Aaron Eckhart, not the one with Nia Peeples. So, it's the one with Eckhart to which I made reference above.

I'm so confused...:p

Oh okay. Thats mighty sneaky of SyFy.. For what it's worth, I remember seeing Battle: LA (the Hollywood blockbuster one) last year on PPV, and it was not very good at all.

I kind of want to watch Battle of LA (SyFy) just for the challenge of being able to sit through it... :p

I think I need to plan a terrible-movie-marathon night! :)

Rent THE ROOM. It is simply the worst movie ever made. We had a bad movie night watching this flick. It was perfect.

Saw Man Of Steel (meh), This is the End (great) and, on HBO, Seeking A Friend for the End of The World (very good).

Oh yeah, IMHO, Battle of LA or whatever the blockbuster wanna be one was called is not good for a bad movie night. Its not laughable bad. Its just bad. There is a fine line. Its like After Earth. You wouldn't want to watch with a bunch of friends and laugh at it because its just boring. The Room, on the other hand, has so many errors, such bad dialogue, etc, its FUN bad.

Just watched Django for the first time Saturday night and I loved it! Super funny and entertaining. I really dig Quentin Tarantino movies.
