I use it heavily at work. Only use Macbook for iWork since the iOS versions are not powerful enough and the file system is still not usable for this type of workflow.

i really hope iOS 10 brings a real file management system and more power to the pro models

I've recently taken to using the iCloud Drive and Dropbox apps to move stuff around. It's not as easy as a true Finder, but things are starting to move in the right direction.

https://www.macrumors.com/2016/03/28/ipad-pro-9-7-inch-review-roundup/

the Review on the frontpage has some good observations But lets do the math. What the vast majority of people do on a PC or Tablet.

-Business or Personal Email
-Microsoft Office for Work School or Personal. (Note Full Microsoft Office is free on the 9.7 iPad Pro NOT on the 12.9 or any Surface Tablet larger than 10 inches.)
-Internet Browsing
-Apps there are so many Apps now its better to have a Tablet than a PC
-Shopping online
-Social Media
-Music and Video Editing the iPad Pro is literally the best tablet for this

Given that a $500 ish software suite which is the defacto worldwde standard is free on the 9.7 iPad Pro it really places the 9.7 Pro in a category possibly above the 12.9 Pro

Did I miss anything ?

I think it's worth specifically saying "Taking Notes". The 12.9" iPP with the Apple Pencil is _awesome_ at that.

Photograph Coffee Machines & cups of coffee

Drink Coffee then upload quality reports via a web portal.

Rinse & Repeat 2000 times a year.

Since the Air 1 I have been able to do all my work live on the go without worrying about paper reports and uploading back at the office. Fully dispensed with laptops now the iPad is the one and only work device.

Read comics/manga. That was pretty much the only purpose when I bought it.

Nowadays, I use the iPad primarily for web browsing but even if I only used my iPad as dedicated manga reader, it's still well worth it as it saves me from getting a bigger apartment or house with enough bookshelves to store all my graphic novels.

cost of LA housing >>>>> cost of iPad

Currently on the iPad pro

- Writing and editing (use Pages, as it's sufficient for the writing i need)
- Spreadsheeting (Numbers only)
- Photoshop lightroom (i have at least two folders worth of melbourne and sydney trips that i need to edit (individual photos, and doing it from the pro is just amazing)
- PDF Reading (textbooks for Uni, and editing and highlighting)
-Emailing (using Outlook for this)
-Gaming (weekends only)
-Podcasting (weekends only)
-Music (weekends only)

Note - when I say weekends only for the iPad pro, i literally turn it into a jukebox and it stays like that until Sunday when it get's full charge. :p It's usually out in the living room during the weekend for the last three activities.

you should ask "the majority of people", thats quite difficult....

everyone has different needs. Only Apple really have significative statistics about their products' usage...

Using my iPP 12.9 and Apple Pencil:
# Use NotesPlus to do all of my teacher planning, administration, professional reading, professional development/training, and of course teaching (with help of YouTube, the Internet, apps, iWork etc)
# internet surfing, browsing, mail
# take photos and print them/add to documents or apps like NotesPlus, Explain Everything app
# scan and view and mark-up PDFs
# read magazines/books
# play, download, listen to music
# play games
# colour in on Procreate app using pictures/photos of adult colouring in sheets
Etc, etc... so many ways I use my iPP and Apple Pencil I just LOVE it!!!

I use it across all of my devices - Air 2, Android phone, Android tablet, Windows boxes - because of the synchronized bookmarks and generally-the-same look and feel.
I was about to say "but safari syncs bookmarks too! So what?" Then I realized you listed off different devices. Pretty cool. Haven't tried chrome on a mobile device never saw the need. Are there any other benefits or features that set it apart from safari?

I used to record screencasts on my iPad, back when the Showme app make the whole task a breeze, and I got pretty good at making my handwriting not look like chicken scratchings too.

Nothing that really comes to mind - the synch'd bookmarks across diverse devices is the main draw for me. One disadvantage is that with iOS you can't specify a "always open with"/default app preference, e.g. a link opened from within an email will always open in Safari (though you can long-press a link and select Copy and then paste it in Chrome - a pain).

And this right here should be in a size 1,000 header phone with sparkles around it. Ok maybe not that. But this is what's important. The change in behavior I've encountered since having an iPhone are huge. When I just had my MacBook Pro, I would take it out every now and then a do stuff for a bit and put it away. That was my usage. With my iPad? It's ALWAYS out and I'm always finding reasons to use it. It gets 100x more use than my MacBook ever did so for some of these people to say "well an iOS device shouldn't be so expensive!" yeah well this "iOS device" gets more use and provides more value to me than my Mac ever did...so I consider it money well spent
