I believe Apple said at WWDC that Adobe had already ported all of their Creative Cloud apps to work on Apple Silicon. Chrome will probably need to be emulated, at least at first. Spotify will as well, but you’ll theoretically also have the option of running the iPad version natively.I hope Adobe is there and they show lots of apps ready. Pretty much the only thing I use that wouldn't be able to get by w/ emulation.
Also would like Chrome and Spotify for launch but I assume those would be fine emulated.
Which is freaking awesome as it would bring an EQ to the desktop (finally!)I believe Apple said at WWDC that Adobe had already ported all of their Creative Cloud apps to work on Apple Silicon. Can't wait to see the benchmarks on the new Apple Silicon...
Can it compete with:
- Intel Tiger Lake?
- Zen 3 5xxx?
Given that they're experiencing a component shortage for iPad/iPhone and reallocating parts from iPad production to iPhone I think a iPad Pro is very unlikely before end of Q1.No ipads?
I don’t. It should run much cooler with AS.If it is a MBA, does anybody expect it to have the same issue regarding heat as I’ve heard about with current MBA?
I don't see how anyone would think otherwise. Apple already announced their new Mac Pro, iPhones, iPads, Homepod, and Apple Watches. They clearly stated that they would release the first Apple Silicon Macs in 2020 so it seems to reason there should be no other expectations especially since the new MacOS Big Sur is about to be released.I guess journals got their early info packages. Both macrumors and 9to5mac released articles almost identical in content, and both are basically saying that the only AS Macs to be announced on Tuesday will be Macbooks. Clearly this was a strategical move by Apple to manage expectations.
spot on.The VAST majority of computer users get EVERY KIND of job done on PCs.
Personally, and many users here will agree, I use Macs (and Apple products in general) because I prefer them, NOT because I need them.
The point of my post (a reply to someone else complaining about another poster's preference) was to illustrate that "need" means different things to different people, and in most cases is used as a replacement for "prefer".

That would cannibalize their MacBook sales. Who would buy a MBP when they can get an iPad Pro with Mac OS . I’m totally with you but we all know it will never happen.Just let us run mac os on iPads.
I would jump on those, but there are rumors of a quad-core Etch-A-Sketch (finally!) coming out in 2021. So I will wait...If you’re holding off on buying a new Mac you say you need because of the bezels, just go buy an Etch-A-Sketch or a Speak and Spell, because your workload is not mission-critical to anyone in this world in the least.
Usability of MacOS and iPad OS is so similar though, they're almost indistinguishable when you equip an iPad with a Magic Keyboard. Same gestures, pointing, all that jazz. They've also been bringing the iPad world slowly but surely to the Mac side.
I feel a full merge within few years is not impossible, especially now that they're bringing ARMs to Macs.
I use my laptop less because iOS replaces basic functions, such as web browsing and mail. Still, there’s a number of consumer level tasks that I can’t do on iOS at all and I still need a real computer.Usability of MacOS and iPad OS is so similar though, they're almost indistinguishable when you equip an iPad with a Magic Keyboard. Unless there is some mac specific software keeping you I really cant fathom much of a reason to stay on their desktop platform. Their laptops are good, but windows on a desktop pc with modern hardware is pretty great and a tremendous value when weighted against the apple desktop offerings.Apple will have to really impress me, I am already planing out a PC build to replace my mac pro 2013 trash can. Have a feeling I am a gone for good.
