I hope Adobe is there and they show lots of apps ready. Pretty much the only thing I use that wouldn't be able to get by w/ emulation.

Also would like Chrome and Spotify for launch but I assume those would be fine emulated.
I believe Apple said at WWDC that Adobe had already ported all of their Creative Cloud apps to work on Apple Silicon. Chrome will probably need to be emulated, at least at first. Spotify will as well, but you’ll theoretically also have the option of running the iPad version natively.

I'll be very curious the price point of the Mini Mac Pro. Sounds like it could be a Mac Mini with expandability and upgradeability. Sure, that's anti the Apple ethos, but they would sell well I would imagine. Add some Apple designed consumer level screens and boom.

Which is freaking awesome as it would bring an EQ to the desktop (finally!)

Hopefully all MBPs, the Air and the Mini get announced. Either way, am really looking forward to this.

Can't wait to see the benchmarks on the new Apple Silicon...

Can it compete with:

- Intel Tiger Lake?
- Zen 3 5xxx?

I guess journals got their early info packages. Both macrumors and 9to5mac released articles almost identical in content, and both are basically saying that the only AS Macs to be announced on Tuesday will be Macbooks. Clearly this was a strategical move by Apple to manage expectations.

I don't see how anyone would think otherwise. Apple already announced their new Mac Pro, iPhones, iPads, Homepod, and Apple Watches. They clearly stated that they would release the first Apple Silicon Macs in 2020 so it seems to reason there should be no other expectations especially since the new MacOS Big Sur is about to be released.

if I go off of Apple's official press release back in June, we are getting one Mac that is being released/announced. with the full release of Big Sur.

"Apple plans to ship the first Mac with Apple silicon by the end of the year and complete the transition in about two years."

I care only about processing power, app availability and learning curves for updated apps for my use cases. I couldn’t care less about lower power draw. That’s mostly a battery size issue or, maybe, a fan noise issue for a desktop machine. I just won’t be interest in Apple silicon if it causes loss of performance, reduces available apps or forces me to learn how to use an app that wasn’t broken.

The VAST majority of computer users get EVERY KIND of job done on PCs.

Personally, and many users here will agree, I use Macs (and Apple products in general) because I prefer them, NOT because I need them.

The point of my post (a reply to someone else complaining about another poster's preference) was to illustrate that "need" means different things to different people, and in most cases is used as a replacement for "prefer".
spot on.
Regarding macOS and windows, unfortunately I actually need the latter for work, but prefer the former for home.

Until the apps I use are natively running on AS utilising Metal and everything else, I wont be running out to get any of the AS machines, especially given no new hardware. I may get MB Air to muck about with at home if I feel like it and can get on a discount for my chunky bezel beauty.
wake me up when the 14"MBP is released in WWDC 2021..........

I'd be far more interested if Affinity showed off their desktop versions with some optimisations and improvements. Their apps have been improving at a faster rate than Adobe.

If you’re holding off on buying a new Mac you say you need because of the bezels, just go buy an Etch-A-Sketch or a Speak and Spell, because your workload is not mission-critical to anyone in this world in the least.
I would jump on those, but there are rumors of a quad-core Etch-A-Sketch (finally!) coming out in 2021. So I will wait...

Usability of MacOS and iPad OS is so similar though, they're almost indistinguishable when you equip an iPad with a Magic Keyboard. Same gestures, pointing, all that jazz. They've also been bringing the iPad world slowly but surely to the Mac side.

I feel a full merge within few years is not impossible, especially now that they're bringing ARMs to Macs.

I use my laptop less because iOS replaces basic functions, such as web browsing and mail. Still, there’s a number of consumer level tasks that I can’t do on iOS at all and I still need a real computer.

I don't know if I will really watch this event. I'm not really interested in the Macs but I still hope they annouce a total retooling of Apple Music and say something on the Watch like "We're giving you rest days on your rings, so if you decide to want to sit down watching Football all day, you're streak will still continue the next day".

Apple will have to really impress me, I am already planing out a PC build to replace my mac pro 2013 trash can. Have a feeling I am a gone for good.
Unless there is some mac specific software keeping you I really cant fathom much of a reason to stay on their desktop platform. Their laptops are good, but windows on a desktop pc with modern hardware is pretty great and a tremendous value when weighted against the apple desktop offerings.
