I'm a bit curious about the "low cost" Apple TV and HomePod. And when I mean curious, I mean what both of these products will be priced at.

Right now, Apple charges $179 for the Apple TV 4K and $149 for the non-4K version.
I currently own a couple different streaming boxes, and I think the ATV, while flawed, is still the best one out there.

But, it is over priced for what you get, especially for the casual streamer...

If you are just using Netflix and Hulu, there is no reason to spend 4 times as much for an ATV when a Firestick's version of the streaming app is basically the same.

I am all in for new Air Pods, new bezel less 10" iPad and 8" iPad mini, and if Apple releases those three devices on 2019 I'll buy them.

Hopefully we'll see the 10nm technology on 2019 Macs finally, and I will be able to buy a new MacBook Pro (with a T3 chip capable of running iOS apps) and a new Mac mini with a much better integrated graphics card.

That's all I expect from Apple on this 2019.

Happy new year pals. It's always a pleasure to be in this community.

Im keen to see from apple in 2019, a new iPad Mini, the new Mac Pro, and to see if they redesign the iMac. Not that I’ll be buying any of them, just keen to see what they come up with.

It will also be interesting to see if they do launch a new Apple monitor, and if so if it uses an LG panel. And then it’ll be interesting to see how it’s priced..

Actually the thing I DO want Apple to do in 2019 is to bring Alexa Echo Dot support for Apple Music to the UK!! And then I’ll seriously be looking at the B&W Zepalin sound system, I would love to be able to stream music from my Echo by voice commands to a Zepalin over Bluetooth, from Apple Music.

As for media streaming, well I finally ditched my first gen Fire TV for the Nvidia Shield TV this Christmas, the Shield was on Black Friday sales, the Apple TV was not.. now not only am I streaming my media with a fantastic interface, but I’m also streaming high end PC games at full graphics settings on GPU cards worth 5 grand or more, all thanks to Nvidia GeForce Now server farms and the power of the internet.

Would like to see a successor to the SE but I have so little confidence in that happening (and at a reasonable price) that I bought another SE the other day on sale. Money placed where mouth is!

I would like to see a great Mac Pro with prices that start at a reasonable level (if it's truly 'modular' that should be easy to manage...) but if not I will carry on with my cheese-grater and MPB until they aren't supported at all then probably buy the cheapest supported Mac afterwards.

Happy New Year everyone.... (and let's hope it is in a Mac-specific way too... !)

iOS 13 will probably drop any iOS devices with Touch ID.
Also macOS 15 will probably drop the 5 year old Mac Mini and mid 2012 MBP and newer without touch bar.
Possible rollout of A12x desktops and laptops and only in store app purchases with the new chipsets, no 3rd party applications.
I don't see them providing Intel Rosetta as they did with PowerPC Rosetta under ARM.

For those that are complaining about Apple prices... Well, there are plenty of manufacturers who offer loads of less expensive computers/phones/accessories/etc. Devices that many believe perform so much better.

With the above being the case for many here, why not reward those companies with your currency by purchasing their less costly superior products, and finally find tech happiness.

Sounds like a win-win to me.

Streaming TV Service

Apple could bundle its service with an Apple Music subscription and an upcoming digital magazine and news subscription, offering all-in-one access to paid news, magazines, original TV shows, movies, and Apple Music content, but standalone subscriptions are also likely to be available.

I would hope Apple wouldn't be dumb enough to force this into a "bundling" deal. That would only show how tone-deaf they are to the market. Cord-cutters quit their old pay TV services specifically because of a lack of a la carte options and having to pay for things they had no interest in to get what they wanted.

What's Not Likely in 2019

iPhone SE

We've heard no further word of a 4-inch iPhone, and with Apple's iPhone lineup now featuring devices ranging in starting price from $449 (iPhone 7) to $1099 (iPhone XS Max), there's not a lot of room for a smaller iPhone.

LOL. That's exactly what Apple would want you to say.
There's a glaring redundancy in having two older 4.7" devices (the iPhone 7 and iPhone 8) both available. While I can appreciate the idea some people don't need the latest and greatest, Apple should axe the 7 and replace the low-end price point with a new SE2.

I’m not sure there needs to be a new HomePod. Some of the 3rd party sellers had them selling for $250 or so. That is a bargain considering how much tech is in those things. I think many of the “Homepods are too expensive” people must not have actually heard them! They sound amazing. Sure Siri could be better , but for me it’s all about how good they sound, convenience( no wires or extra devices to connect) these things are incredible. Too bad they get such a bad rap.

Interestingly you could have chosen to buy the iPhone XR at a $0 price increase from the iPhone 6s with the same storage amount.
I knew the XR was coming soon but I like the bigger display on the XS Max and was willing to pay for it. I just don't know what Apple is planning to put into the 2019 model that would entice me to buy the next model. I love the size of the Max but I don't want anything bigger. Faster processor and better camera are always welcome but for my needs, the iPhone are already into the area of "diminishing returns" where I don't really want to pay a significant upcharge to get a slightly more capable phone. Someone else earlier on this thread made a comment about the days of new "must have" features being added to each generation of phone seem to be behind us and I would agree.

If Apple comes out with some new "must have" feature, I would probably change my mind and get the 2019 model but if it is just new colors, 0.5 mm thinner and 20% faster CPU, I will probably hold onto my XS Max until at least 2020.

I hope Apple cleans up the product line a little bit, especially the Mac portable line. This is what I think it should look like.

12 inch A13m MacBook
13 inch and 15 inch MacBook Air
13 inch and 16 inch MacBook Pro

I know, it’s a long shot. And the m in the A13m stands for Mac.

I think you will see phones surpassing the $2000 mark in 2019. Apple needs to make up the lost ground due to below expected sales of the current Xs/Xr lineup and will raise prices more than usual in an attempt to increase the bottom line. Also, I think you will see a 10-20% increase in Mac prices but no updates. "Vintage" gear will be used to justified the increases that are coming.

Sounds like a good year thats coming. It seems that Apple has adapted to a much to high price point and is loosing sales on a lot of things because of that. Lets hope that the new year also brings some sense into Apple. In my mind volume should be what they are looking for rather than maximizing profits on every sale. Especially since sales are dropping.

Happy new year everyone

would like a new phone, but prices are just too much, not to mention the size. Mac Pro, ship has sailed. I'll keep an eye on what comes out, but will know I wouldn't be able to drop that much money if i needed to. Like others, I want to see Tim Cook gone.

Apple has priced itself out of the hands of most Americans. People were buying Amazon Fire Sticks like gangbusters this holiday season. I was in the stores to see it. No one asking for Apple TVs. Not a good way to embark on pivoting to a services company.

I think without a severe course correction in it's approach to customers, Apple is in for many salad days in the near future.

Apple has somehow priced it self out of most consumers While still having its biggest year ever.

LOL.

I would say the modular Mac Pro and Apple display will be shown off in 2019 .. maybe a preorder in December and a delivery sometime in 2020

I'm looking to buy a new Mac but I'm willing to wait for any revisions that may arise. I'm also very likely to buy the next Apple Watch that is released and maybe (if rumors prove to be true) buy a new iPad Mini.
