I don’t have high hopes for it, but they need to make a vertical version of the next Magic Mouse, somewhat like the Logitech MX Vertical, but with touch gestures. I have the MX Vertical now, and it is by far the most comfortable mouse/pointing device I have ever used, but I miss the smooth, fluid scrolling that the Magic Mouse and Magic Trackpad allow.

Does Apple put the intern design team on the mouse every decade? Like.. look at a history of the ones they have put out.. they are all, generally, awful.
I’m really having a hard time deciding which Apple mouse was the worst. The hockey puck? The clit mouse? The soap bar? They’re all horrible!

If Logitech released a new variant of the MX Vertical with the scroll wheel replaced with a touch sensitive surface with gesture support (and fluid scrolling like the Magic Mouse and Magic Trackpad allow), I would buy it immediately. That’d be the perfect input device, though I am curious about the Naya Create, especially if they manage to reduce the price in time with economies of scale. I have a Logitech MX Vertical and a Microsoft Sculpt keyboard at the moment, but something like the Naya Create or ZSA Voyager seem like they’re better keyboards.

To everyone complaining about the ergonomics - do you actually rest your palm on the Logitech? I have an MX3 and the only parts of my hand that touch the mouse are my fingers and thumb … exactly the same as with the Magic Mouse. If I rest my whole palm on the MX3, my fingers hang way off the edge - and my hands aren’t that big. Either people have way smaller hands than me or y’all just love to complain.

Apple should make also wired keyboard and mouse. At least as an option. Batteries are obnoxious for the environment, a pain to recharge and useless after several years stored. Besides the fire danger (imagine the ones stored in the garage or in museums).

How well does the MX Master work? Ive heard that apple doesn’t allow thirdparty mice to use thier APIs that make the Magic mouse…Magic. Scrolling isn’t smooth, no bounce scroll, no swiping back with the animation, etc. How bad is it.

The ergonomics of the device will likely be to Apple what the Co2 filters where during Apollo 13.

Give their predominant use of glass and aluminium, I have a hard time imagining anything other than what we have currently.
That and also, I bet they want their Magic Mouse to be "beautiful" which doesn't seem possible with an ergonomic design like the MX Master (I hope Apple proves me wrong)

Is it too much to ask for ANYONE to bring back a scroll ball, or any way for an actual mouse to give even a fraction of of what a trackpad does on mac?
The Logitech MX Master has a vertical scroll wheel in the usual place, and a horizontal scroll wheel for your thumb.

There's also a "gesture" feature where you hold down a button with your thumb and move the mouse to make gestures. I never use that because I don't bother with the Logitech software. The scroll wheels don't need the software (not sure about the haptics on the new one).

No back with animation, smooth scroll, or scroll bouncing. Besides that, works great as a mouse.

Apple's self-preferencing is really annoying.

Reports are it's going to be over engineered and over priced since Tim kept billing his time to the project but allowed several others not associated with the hardware team directly as well.

Form over function :-\
It's gotta look slick!

I think that is what Apple has with the Magic Mouse. I would not use any other mouse for work, I love the gestures and over all feel for it. Not sure what the comparison is to the Logitech mouse, it is like they are 2 very different approaches to the same thing. What I want in a new magic mouse at bare minimum is wireless charging and the ability to use it while charging. Could see an Apple powered mouse pad. Slightly larger would not have me complaining though I have no issue with the current size with my moderately large hands.

Calling it now. It will be $99. 😂
If it really is an ergonomic mouse aiming to compete the MX Master, I think it's more likely gonna be $149 :apple:

It’s not really the palm itself that rests on the mouse, but more like the base of the fingers if that makes sense. Like the very top part of your palm that carries some of the weight/pressure from your hand to the mouse.
I've used a Magic Mouse for a few years then switched to the MX3, I immediately felt much more comfortable on the Logitech

I can't imagine what one must be thinking to talk about the magic mouse and the MX Master series in one story. They are so different that I wouldn't know where to start a comparison. I really don't get this article.

It does. Connect Magic Keyboard over USB-C/Lightning and it uses the cable instead of Bluetooth.
