Wait until it's over before despairing, at least. I thought there was pretty strong consensus we'd be seeing an updated Mac Pro, and the comments about notebooks would seem to rule that out as well, so there could be a quick desktop refresh at the end or something.

I don't find it tempting at all. Imagine how lame it will be when a company won't BOTHER to update their products to suit your laptop.

I am pissed.

The iMac update is likely not a "big announcement" - just the usual silent update - probably in the next few weeks.

Looks that way. Pretty irritating they've waited this long when the components for a regular update have been available. They're starting to talk about OS X.

No Imac till here, nor MacPro...can't be such fail...just specs bump and a retina...:(

It's not though is it. It's a new form factor and a completely ground breaking display.

Certainly not fail or "just".... Simply isn't what we in this section of the forum were looking for.

Then it'll look exactly the same as it does on your current laptop. Meanwhile, all the updated programs will look phenomenal.

Well the air and macbook updates were only spec bumps and they still had it in the keynote.. gives me hope that imacs will also come.

Here are the possibilities:

  1. It's a minor update. Not worth spending Keynote time on. Press release this week or next.
  2. There's a component shortage somewhere (say, they've gone back to Nvidia and can't any 680M's), so they're on hold.
  3. They're working on something huge but it's not fully cooked yet.

The 650M in the Retina MBP doesn't look too tempting for me. So wait I will.

Would they be kind to us and say something like: "and we've not forgotten about the iMac, that'll be getting an update in the coming days/ next week/ next month"

Any chance of that?

Well, stay tuned for a "One More Thing". But I doubt it.

If they doesn't update today ita just for marketing,
they want to clean stocks and then sold us the new bumped one,
that retina MBpro is just a richy toy...the same ivy tech, the same Kepler..just pricy...and all this has faded away the imacs..all we were waiting for,,
this is not the Apple i used to love...
double down cook ,double down!

Hmm. I'm hoping for a silent refresh with a spec. bump (Ivy Bridge, USB3, etc.).

But... if the iMac was going to get that, why not mention it in the Keynote? After all, the MBA & MBP updates were just a spec. bump. The only thing worthy of the Keynote was the "Next Gen" Retina MBP. So, if they used the Keynote to mention the spec. bumped MBA and MBP, why not also mention a spec. bumped iMac? Unless, of course, it doesn't exist :(

Because they wanted to focus on the new MacBook Pro, Mountain Lion, and iOS 6. They've got a bunch to talk about today.

Been waiting for 6 months now I'm not sure what do do now

There's a chance or they might just show up in the store when it comes back up.

So is it the case that sometimes Apple updates a product line without announcing it at all?

Could I randomly be browsing the apple store in a week or two's time and find a new iMac has been released without me knowing about it?
